Can't seem to find a thread.

Looks like a good cast.

I really enjoyed it. He doesn't seem broken enough. And the phones were annoying.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2018 21:26

Hmmmm weird

Prob worth watching no 2

Yes weird the Hong Kong Police contacted him As married for 20yrs to other man and obv means his marriage is void /illegal

Who would travel around the world without a charger /leave their phone flat for 3 days +

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2018 21:27

Maybe pin code was same for phones

I know df as he knows mine

CurlyhairedAssassin · 11/09/2018 22:51

I think if you were trying to hide a whole other foreign husband number 1 from your English husband number 2 then you probably wouldn’t keep the same PIN number for both phones and tell your English husband what it is!

Unless she did that on purpose, knowing that one day he’d need to investigate her murder which the cops are trying to cover up. But then if the HK cops are corrupt why would they just hand over her phones to Jonah with potential incriminating evidence on it.

Plot holes....why on Earth do they make you want to watch episode 2?!

VickyMcQueen · 12/09/2018 01:27

Usually I love anything JS is in but that was unbearably slow and dull.

Honeyroar · 12/09/2018 22:03

It hasn't gripped me so far. But I adore Hong King, so may keep watching.

louise5754 · 12/09/2018 22:11

I thought the charger he bought was for his wife's phone but then the voicemail was for him presumably left on his phone?

Wingedharpy · 13/09/2018 00:10

I watched it and it felt a bit flat to me for some reason I couldn't quite work out.

I thought the idea was intriguing but maybe poorly executed.

Couldn't decide if it was poor acting or a bad script - possibly both.

Will watch next week to see if it improves but may well abandon it before the end if it doesn't.

user1457017537 · 13/09/2018 02:37

Watched with eager anticipation but wondered how you kept a husband of twenty years quiet, and also forgot to mention a daughter of the same age. How did Hong Kong police know about UK husband when she had one in HK.

Kinraddie · 13/09/2018 11:13

Very unrealistic that the daughter is out protesting and graffiti-ing when her mum has just died. And Jonah seems not too bothered either.
They were married 3 years, together 5, and he never once went with her to Hong Kong for a visit? Lecturers get long summer hols, so what's his excuse? Potentially a big pile of bollocks.

averageguy1 · 17/09/2018 15:17

I dont think he unlocked her 'other husband' phone was it not a picture on the lock screen ?

back2workback2reality · 17/09/2018 21:41

The bath scene ShockShockShock

FawnDrench · 18/09/2018 10:41

How did the daughter know who JS was to look him up online and how did she know which hotel he was staying at?
Bonkers!

englishmummyinwales · 18/09/2018 14:19

I’m so disappointed with this series, think I’m giving up. I love John Simm as an actor but he’s picked a stinker here. It was a great premise and location but a wooden script, lack of rising tension and some poor acting (the HK husband and daughter in particular) means that it’s failing to hold my interest. How could we care about the man in the bath when we’d only just been introduced to him? I hope JS and Emilia Fox enjoyed a good expense account while they were filming as I don’t think they’ll get anything else out of this. It’s a shame.

Mitzimaybe · 18/09/2018 17:10

She was a British citizen, so the Hong Kong police would have told the British embassy / consulate about her death, they would have checked UK records and found her marriage to Jonah, so they informed him of the death (via the police.) But that doesn't explain why he was asked to identify the body.

We're going to watch the next episode at least.

VanGoghsDog · 18/09/2018 22:01

Hong Kong - the place where you literally can't leave a building without walking past a mobile phone shop and he spends three days asking anyone he bumps into 'where can I get a charger for this?' - nonsense.

And anyway, turns out he meant a power pack, not a charger.

Westwing1 · 19/09/2018 13:21

I am enjoying it!

Thegirlinthefireplace · 24/09/2018 18:57

Bumping to see if anyone's sticking with it for tonight? I agree with some of the criticisms regarding holes, but those don't really bother me, in such situations I usually fill in my own explanations for them Blush

catherinedevalois · 24/09/2018 19:01

I'll be watching!

newnameallround · 24/09/2018 21:11

I am!

catornot · 24/09/2018 21:13

Watching

sunglasses · 24/09/2018 22:10

3 episodes in and John Simm has only just looked up some background info on the other husband! Wasn’t sure about this series after the first episode but face it a chance- it’s awful! Wooden acting, terrible script, confusing mysterious characters that are failing to be intriguing. Story line with the daughter seems completely irrelevant and unconnected. I won’t be watching any more.

catherinedevalois · 24/09/2018 22:31

Yes, I'm not sure any more. Also I don't understand how Megan took those photos of the approaching truck? I thought we saw her die and I don't remember her taking them. I might have to watch the whole series once it's finished to tie up all the questions.

MinesaPinot · 25/09/2018 13:25

Actually, going against the grain here, but I'm quite enjoying it!

Thegirlinthefireplace · 25/09/2018 13:42

I agree with whoever said they don't see what Megan saw in either of the husbands. Do want to carry on the the conclusion in the hope of an interesting resolution.
