Can't seem to find a thread.

Looks like a good cast.

I'm not watching any more after last night's episode. I just realised I don't actually care who killed her

Getfitmumma · 25/09/2018 21:01

I have just removed the series link, it's sooooo boring and the main actor is so annoying. It was bugging me why I think he is such a bore and then I remembered he was the crap one in Mad Dogs too.

FanciedAChangeToday · 25/09/2018 21:04

Am trying to stick with it as the premise is so good, but it's blooming hard work. All the main characters are so unlikable!

Westwing1 · 26/09/2018 08:09

Still enjoying it! I like that it is set in Hong Kong and I think the two male leads are good, it is a bit restrained compared to other tv series but I don't mind that.

jputthekettleon · 26/09/2018 14:33

I have to agree with a lot of the replies I think I'm done with it. As Pp said I don't care who killed her or the chap in the bath tub. I would have thought she would have had a part in the majority of the first episode so we could form a bond with the character. I find her Hong Kong husband quite watchable but the UK husband so boring and annoying I sit watching hoping he will just get bumped off!

Inkanta · 26/09/2018 16:36

I will persevere but agree it's a bit hard work. I can't warm to the daughter or her dad who says he's not a talker. He sure doesn't say much Hmm

myusernameisnotmyusername · 26/09/2018 22:19

Is John Simm actually likeable in anything? I don't think I've ever watched him in a role where I have liked the character.

Lynne1Cat · 26/09/2018 22:36

It's a mixed-up story, and I don't think I can find it interesting enough to stick it out for the next (5?) episodes. I found Marcella to be like that too

FanciedAChangeToday · 27/09/2018 09:21

Marcella I could keep trying with because I was fascinated with Anna Friel's mouth/lip surgery so that added an interest but John Simm, nah

jputthekettleon · 27/09/2018 12:27

@myusernameisnotmyusername

I liked him in Life on Mars and he did a relatively entertaining drama about the invention on DNA evidence but everything else I've seen him in I've not liked the character. Boring and whiny and just unlikeable but can't put my finger on why...

MinesaPinot · 27/09/2018 14:12

As I said up the thread, I'm quite enjoying this. I can't quite put my finger on why I am, however, and DH has said that John Simm is starting to wind him up a bit.

Marcella, though, I loathed

myusernameisnotmyusername · 27/09/2018 20:54

Oh yes. Life on Mars- only seen a couple of episodes but it's definitely something I want to watch properly. He just seems like a dick in these serious dramas.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2018 15:12

Anyone still watching

jputthekettleon · 02/10/2018 17:48

It's on series link but I haven't watched the latest one yet and am deciding whether to delete! Did you watch?

catherinedevalois · 02/10/2018 17:54

Yes, me. Don't know why because it's still as clear as mud. The 5 million was slightly interesting, the body turning up - less so. If she's been cremated then it could be anyone! Also you can't just say 'your wife's body's turned up'! Who took it, who cremated it, who returned it etc. And who gives a stuff about Ben?

Bearbehind · 02/10/2018 18:48

I'm more intrigued how Jonah keeps getting in and out of the left hand side of cars but sitting on the right hand side!

catherinedevalois · 02/10/2018 19:24

What I still really like is the feeling this is the real HK. The native language especially and the buildings and landscape and that Jonah sticks out like a sore thumb.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/10/2018 19:52

For those of us who kind of lost interest but are still quite keen to know what happens, could someone say in one sentence what happened in last night’s episode?

myusernameisnotmyusername · 02/10/2018 20:52

I'm watching it now. I'm losing interest fast. I hate Jonah and don't know why.

dontwanttogooooo · 02/10/2018 21:05

I can't really keep up with it... what's happened? Is it looking like David is a bad guy? Or whoever his name is (other husband)

Thighofrelief · 02/10/2018 22:37

Given up after 1.5 episodes, shame normally love John Simm. This was just trash though IMO.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 05/10/2018 11:49

John Simm needs to have a word with his agent, what with the nonsensical 'Trauma' and now this meandering heap of confused nothingness.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 05/10/2018 11:57

It’s really is tripe isn’t it?? It’s been relegated to one of my programs to have on when I’m ironing.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 05/10/2018 12:06

DH & I decided last night that we're binning it. I can't sit through another 4 episodes of this guff, and the plot is progressing slower than glacial drift. The stuff with the daughter and her girlfriend is annoyingly vague, and while I appreciate that grief does strange things to people, for a man who just found out that his wife of 3 years had a secret family on the other side of the world going back decades, Jonah seems remarkably non-plussed about the betrayal Hmm

MrsReacher1 · 09/10/2018 17:58

I came on here to see what others were saying - and I agree with those who find it dull. It is so confusing and I care less and less about the characters.

Loved John Simm in Life on Mars but everything since has been disappointing. He plays the same person in everything - the politically correct, North London liberal type. New Man, always angry about something, lover of the Smart Casual jacket combo. Dull, smug and really not very bright - although he thinks he is. Limited range of expressions: - outrage, happy, self-righteous, bewildered.

(I'm sure the actor himself is nothing like this - Grin )

I am so confused now. Who is the baddie? The Consulate ? The Gangster? The Husband? And what is the point of the daughter? There is so much that doesn't make sense - and I agree about the book and the phone plot holes.

I might give it another go - but only if I have nothing better to do, (I do hate giving up on things!)
