Djok to serve for it...

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:41

DelPo is sobbing alone in his chair Sad

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:43

Everyone is just fucking standing there! Officials etc. Wouldn't you want to go over and give him a hug?? I'd be straight over there!

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:48

The first person to go over to Delpo was Johnny Mac. Then Novak went across and hugged him.

Congrats to Novak I suppose. Huh.

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:49

Why is this woman going on about the weather? Who cares at this stage?!

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:52

In fairness to Djokovic he did do this

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:57

The woman doing the presentation just said to Djok: "Oh you're a wonderful champion, a wonderful champion". Pass the sick bucket, I'm going to bed. Ugh.

JaneJeffer · 10/09/2018 00:58

Aww poor Delpo. That picture made me sad Sad

I should be in bed!!

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 00:59

Oh wait, here's the record-breaking cheque. It's like the fecking Price Is Right Hmm

Right now I'm really going to bed. Sorry for all the posts gang Blush

JaneJeffer · 10/09/2018 00:59

Night night Private

BeaLola · 10/09/2018 01:08

Delpo is the people’s champion - hope to see him play live one day - a true sportsman - and he’s not 39 yet so could do it again ? Here’s hoping - perhaps he should play doubles ? Off up dream about him removing the sweater !

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 01:14

the people's champion
I love that. And the sweater removal Grin
Good night!!

Raahh · 10/09/2018 06:51

Well, I fell asleep (I knew I would, I had taken painkillers and had a feeling everything would catch up with me sooner or let!).
Poor Delpo. Sad I will need to try and re-warch some of it later.

considering where he was at the beginning of the year, I don't think there would have been many who would have predicted Djok would be a 2 time slam winner this year. But that's tennis for you!

it's been a strange couple of weeks.

Ah poor Delpo - well done Djokovic - it has been a pretty amazing comeback for him I guess.

I’ll try and watch the highlights as I didn’t see the last set - poor Delpo sobbing Sad.

It always makes me cringe Raahh when they say how much the cheque is for.

Yes it has been a strange couple of weeks. Is it Davis cup next?

Mama1980 · 10/09/2018 07:32

I fell asleep.
Poor poor Delpo Sad really not the result I wanted but Djokovic played well. It's been a remarkable year for him.
Don't think I'll bother watching the highlights my dd1 watched and said it was pretty dull.
Agree, a very strange couple of weeks. Kinda feel like the the talk hasn't been about the tennis what with the umpire, injuries and temper tantrums.

MirandaWest · 10/09/2018 07:42

I fell asleep too. Briefly woke up to see there was a tie break, and then at 5-3 in the third set and didn’t want to watch it finishing Sad

Fizzywinegum · 10/09/2018 07:42

Sorry it was Private who mentioned the cheque - well done for staying the course!

Yes Mama this tournament does seem to have been more about things other than the tennis and they’re still talking about Serena.

Right I need to try to get DS2 off for his first day at college - it’s not going well so far.

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 08:19

Good luck Fizzy!

I'm feeling a bit groggy this morning but I'm glad I stayed up. It was a weird match in some ways. I know what your DD means when she said it was boring Mama - I didn't find it boring but it was very slow, long rallies, Djok doing his best brick wall impression, Delpo trying everything but not really at his absolute best at first. The second set was good when Delpo did get it going with some massive forehands but when he still lost the set, it was a bit of a downer.

Greg was already predicting Djokovic would win the Aus Open Hmm

JaneJeffer · 10/09/2018 08:25

Good luck to you and your DS Fizzy.

It's amazing that Novak, Rafa and Roger are still doing so well when there's so many youngsters around!

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 08:32

I see they are throwing Carlos Ramos under the proverbial bus Angry

Raahh · 10/09/2018 08:51

Private the WTA should be ashamed. I heard on the radio this morning they are backing Serena and think it was all sexist. I don't know what hold Serena has over people, but clearly there is something, and they are more scared of her than facing the actual facts.

And they have such conveniently short memories.

This is waht she said to the lineswoman in the Clijsters match .

: "I swear to God, I'm f-- going to take this f-- ball and shove it down your f-- throat, you hear that? I swear to God."

That's lovely, isn't it.

What a lovely role model she is for her daughter.

She was caught out. The she smashed her racquet. There was nothing sexist about how it was dealt with. She is deflecting the attention from her own atrocious behaviour, by claiming it was. The irony is, she is obviously used to getting her own way, to umpires turning a blind eye- the exact thing she seems to think he does to men.

Thanks everyone!

What’s happening with Carlos Ramos - is it because WTA is backing Serena?

Raahh · 10/09/2018 08:55

And....I've got to go to the dentist this morning. Which is a nice start to the week. Grin

PrivateParkin · 10/09/2018 09:00

Agree Raahh. Yes sexism exists! But Carlos Ramos wasn't sexist. He just applied the rules.

Fizzywinegum · 10/09/2018 09:31

Exactly Private. Good luck at the dentist Raahh. They’re talking about Serena on the radio 5 phone in now.
