Who knew something would be less appetising than cream crackers and day-old gravy with a side order of back hair?

Yes Chipstick. He is all of those things.

How can both of Ryan's parents be white if one of his grandparents is Indian??? That means one of his parents is half Indian. So not white.

Kirstie made me lol with what she said to Ryan then threw drink over him

TheBubGrower · 08/09/2018 23:58

I find it quite uncomfortable people discussing whether someone is "ethnic" enough to have an opinion on racism. If Ryan has a parent of dual heritage then we don't know what racism he may have experienced growing up. I know a very white/ pale lady who has an Indian father, she just happened to not inherit any of his colour. I also know a white child who has a black mum. Are they not allowed to comment on race because they're not "black/ brown" enough? Ridiculous. Racism has effected their lives in many ways because they are surrounded by it in society and have been on the receiving end of it due to their parent's skin colour. It's offensive to say they wouldn't understand it just because they're not black/ brown enough themselves

RainySeptember · 09/09/2018 00:04

I wouldn't say Ryan doesn't understand it because he isn't black enough. I'd say he doesn't appear to understand it because everything he's said about it has been utterly moronic.

I also think its disingenuous to suggest that Ryan's experiences are likely to have been anything like Hardeeps. Well they can't have been can they, since he said several days ago that racism doesn't exist.

TheQueef · 09/09/2018 00:05

Me too Sole she's thrown a drink before! Grin I think Ryan knows he's won it.

TheBubGrower · 09/09/2018 00:08

Rainy I was referring to comments made on here, and by hardeep saying that Ryan couldn't comment because he wasn't brown enough. I just don't buy that. I missed him saying that racism doesn't exist, if he did say that then obviously he's wrong, and a prick

SoleBizzz · 09/09/2018 00:12

TheQueef yes! Haha I wonder if Kirstie ever loses her shit?

RainySeptember · 09/09/2018 00:28

And anyone thinking Sally is a sweet lady incapable of racism should read about why she had to sack her husband and son-in-law. I'd bet anything that they wouldn't have been sacked if it hadn't all been caught on film.

I'd love Nick to win. I know he brought a bank down through poor judgement, overconfidence and bad luck, but he served time in jail for it and hasn't hurt anyone. He seems the most genuine imo.

DioneTheDiabolist · 09/09/2018 00:43

What was Kirsty's storm? And what was Ryan's?

SoleBizzz · 09/09/2018 00:54

Dionw Here is Ryan's storm

Meowstro · 09/09/2018 01:19

Perhaps my response came across wrong, he's likely never experienced racism because of how society perceives him. That's not Ryan's fault but it may explain his naivety around the subject of racism. I don't think you can fully understand subtle racism (such as being made uncomfortable from looks or little comments) to the full extent unless you've experienced it because you'll be blind to it. Of course we're seeing it on TV but being there is different.

Windmillsinsummer · 09/09/2018 02:03

Sole that's awful about your son but sadly I understand the looks tuts and comments I get especially when I park in a disabled bay. Even when I get out of the car and they see my prosthetic limb they are downright rude. The pure disgust some people have of the disabled is just awful xxAngry

derxa · 09/09/2018 08:22

Sally crying when confronting Hardeep seems put on And then some.
I believe she is completely nasty

BlancheM · 09/09/2018 08:27

She tried so hard to push some tears out didn't she

toldmywrath · 09/09/2018 08:39

Anne I don't recall when I realized that Jason (Ryan's character on Corrie) was of dual heritage. IMO he could just be suntanned.
Speaking of Corrie, I wonder how Peter Barlow's son, Simon, is of obvious dual heritage, when both his screen parents are white. Has this ever been explained?
Please, no offence or racism is intended.

itswinetime · 09/09/2018 08:52

I'm not sure where I stand with Sally vs Hardeep I think the turban comment was Borderline and it was a belittling something important to him. The talc comment I don't think she meant in the way it was taken but her hysterics and going round to everyone gathering supporters wasn't needed and was a bit roxy! And her making out the issues are all in his head he is an arse but she hates him has from the off! She didn't come across well.

Hardeep didn't cover himself in glory either he could have calmly discussed things maybe had the debate he so craved but instead acted like a child! The way he dismisses ryan all the time to is annoying!

Not a lot else happens really so tonight's going to be a long night tonight

Kirstie came out if things well, So did Nick. Dan and Ryan tried but I think something was lost in the delivery gabby-didn't say a word? But then in the diary room summed it up really well she needs to start speaking out!

I wonder if the results would have change if this had been shown pre eviction?

MrsJayy · 09/09/2018 10:00

Watched the hoha from behind my hands I think askng to use hardeeps turban was disrespectful and them all telling hi he over reacted was so uncomfy to watch, Hardeep is so quick to react then huffs away it is probably best he went for his sake he doesn't handle anything well just says stuff and walks away but being an unpleasant person doesn't meanhe was wrong to feel offended.

I just looked at Kirsties storm it is a bit of a stretch to call being overweight a storm still it is Kirstie Alley and she isfab not starry at all.

DioneTheDiabolist · 09/09/2018 12:03

Putting on weight in middle age is hardly a storm.

StilaOnTheWrongPlane · 09/09/2018 13:05

Kirstys storm is a definitely a bit of a non event in the real world .

But I suppose their take is a 'media' storm hence the word fluctuating . God knows the media loves a celeb who gets fat , gets thin then gets fat again Hmm

MrsJayy · 09/09/2018 13:16

Spose Actress gets fat is a thing in the media it is ridiculous though.

HannahnotAgnes · 09/09/2018 13:49

To be fair to Kirstie, I lived in the US during her 'storm' & it was horrid. The media & all celeb channels really went for her. I remember her appearing on Oprah after losing weight & she still got an absolute slating as she was wearing Spanx (as whilst she'd lost weight, she was still overweight in Hollywood terms). They really were vile to her & relentless about it.

MrsJayy · 09/09/2018 13:59

I remember random Kirstie Alley got fat now isn't articles in magazines and papers just horrible

nicenewdusters · 09/09/2018 14:04

Looks like I missed a slightly uncomfortable episode. I don't have any time for Sally, and Hardeep can be deeply annoying, but the turban comment sounds crass and insensitive.

Will be watching tonight - and dc free - so no doubt nothing will happen.
