Who knew something would be less appetising than cream crackers and day-old gravy with a side order of back hair?

Yesterdays episode is shown on Mtv at 7pm if you want to catch up

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/09/2018 14:23

The whole storm idea has been a bit of a wet blanket IMO. I'm particularly sceptical about Roxanne, as one paper reported she hadn't even been in talks to do BB until after the crash where she cheated death Call me cynical but it seems her new Agents had a big push. She'd only been radio cost host since February, has a song out on You Tube, got the gig on The Island and then CBB in quick succession Hmm Ironically she fits the 'storm' theme more now than when she entered the house Grin

Now, can someone enlighten me as to what they were doing before talc-gate? some kind of script and play directed by Kirstie I thought? was it to win remaining letters from home or something? Why were people supposed to be sick and wounded? I must've nodded off or got distracted for that bit.

Call me cynical again, but how odd all this wasn't shown leading up to the eviction, we saw it only after Sally beat Hardeep Hmm

As for the incident. I think Sally is stupid and disrespectful, especially comparing Hardeep's turban to a scarf. Would she have asked a priest or a nun to hand over some of their attire to fit a game? I think it was less racist hatred and more ignorance, but given that Hardeep had been very vocal about race issues, she should have been very careful not to give offence.

Although Hardeep was a more interesting character I'm glad to have a rest from his offence taking and virtue signalling. It especially got my goat how he speaks about women and women's issues when he proclaims no one can give a valid opinion on racism if they haven't experienced it. For a man who prides himself on his intellect, he hasn't really thought that through.

MrsJayy · 09/09/2018 14:33

Hardeeps arrogance stops him from thinking things through he might be an intellegent man but my god his no self awareness and lack of emotional intelligence is outstanding that is why he throws in around comments about food banks and gender equality he reminds me of a right on teenager not a middle aged man

RainySeptember · 09/09/2018 14:34

"Call me cynical again, but how odd all this wasn't shown leading up to the eviction, we saw it only after Sally beat Hardeep."

Tbf we always see the day's footage the following day. Presumably to allow for editing. So if their argument happened on Friday, it would be entirely usual to see that on Saturday, just unfortunate that that was after eviction.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/09/2018 14:41

True Rainy I was just under the impression that when they know there's an eviction that evening they seem to spend most of the day preparing, especially now they seem to have hair and makeup assistance. Who knows.

Isn't it supposed to be tonight that ex housemates are going in? or is that just an unsubstantiated rumour?

nicenewdusters · 09/09/2018 15:10

Thanks MrsJayy will see if I can get that.

Rachel0Greep · 09/09/2018 15:25

To be honest dusters you won't miss a lot, if you don't see it. Have your earplugs ready and the tv remote at the ready to mute.

nicenewdusters · 09/09/2018 16:03

Oh blimey Rachel0 That makes me want to avoid it BUT also definitely watch it. CBB is my guilty pleasure Shock .

MostlyHungryAgain · 09/09/2018 16:28

Now that I am all caught up and because I can't watch until one day after you all, I've taken to watching CBB 2012. I had a look through a few years and this looked like a good one.

May get the story lines intertwined though. Tried looking for the PWB thread from 2012 but it was a bit of a chore so I gave up.

A few hours ahead of you so I've already had dinner and am pondering if I should have a chocolate digestive.

itswinetime · 09/09/2018 17:16

I dont think the timing could be helped but I did think it telling B.B. didn't show the comments about the turban until Hardeep mentioned i wonder if other comments have been similarly missed.

As for what they were doing I don't think it was a task or anything I think it was a play they devised to amuse them selves!

Ex housemates were mention at eviction so it must be tonight's show tomorrow's will be full of trying to get them all out 6 is a lot for finale isn't it?

MyCatIsBonkers · 09/09/2018 18:04

Coming out of the shadows to say that I can't stand Hardeep, he's a creepy, patronising nob. He is however right about what Sally said. She may not have meant it, but what she said about his turban and the talc are examples of everyday racism. He hit the nail on the head when he said that you don't have to be racist to say racist things.

MyCatIsBonkers · 09/09/2018 18:07

Another example of everyday racism is when a person of colour says that they find something a tad racist and all the white people in the room get mad and tell them that they're wrong.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/09/2018 19:02

MyCat I think we're straying into semantics now, but from my perspective the turban conversation wasn't racist, rather it was highly disrespectful towards and ignorant of, his religion - which isn't racially motivated. See my previous comment regarding clothing worn by a Nun or a Priest, which IMO, would have been equally disrespectful.

The colour of his skin viz being in good health or ill? easy to take as a racist remark, ill advised at least, particularly from someone you're at odds with, but actually pretty par for the course with regard to how someone is doing. 'Are you ok? you look pale' 'You look grey' or conversely 'you're looking really well' when someone white skinned has a tan, all examples of very common phrases which are never taken to point at usual skin colour or race, or, to be disparaging.

I've seen Sally and Hardeep's issues as being between two people who have absolutely no time for each other and who have a gulf between them intellectually. I think this would've been exactly the same regardless of either's race, colour, gender or religion.

None of which mean I have any desire to defend Sally or any wish to support Hardeep and, I am aware of Sally's wider family history regarding remarks.

Geordiegirl1988 · 09/09/2018 20:06

Iv just read that ex housemates are going back into the house to tell Ryan the truth about the incident with Toxy ? Has anyone's else heard this or is it likely to be tabloid crap ?

itswinetime · 09/09/2018 20:19

Geordie.

I have seen that on twitter and I hope it's fake to be honest to not reveal the truth to the house at the time and let him suffer like that and then to reveal it know has a last ditch ratings grab would be a new low for producers.

derxa · 09/09/2018 20:21

It was racism. We don't like Hardeep so it's alright to be racist to him

PaddysMarket · 09/09/2018 20:25

I think its fake that the housemates are going back in to talk about Roxy. Natalie posted this earlier on IG.

Both speaking for myself and generalizing, No, it's absolutely not ok to make racist remarks, whether you like someone or not, or even if they've previously made any kind of disparaging remarks towards you.

DioneTheDiabolist · 09/09/2018 20:40

It was racism. I am younger than Sally and grew up in one of the least ethnically diverse parts of the UK, but I'm still old enough to remember discussions around the Sikh turban wrt motorbike helmets and as part of the police uniform.

She was deliberately racist and faux naive about it and then pretended to be upset when he called her out on it.

TheBubGrower · 09/09/2018 20:41

Didn't Emma herself say on the live show the other night that they were going in

nicenewdusters · 09/09/2018 20:44

CBB tonight at 9pm on C5. That's followed at 10pm by Celeb Ghost Hunt Holiday. Isn't Roxanne in that ? Also tonight at 10 pm on C4 is Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. Isn't she in that as well ???

derxa · 09/09/2018 20:50

She was deliberately racist and faux naive about it and then pretended to be upset when he called her out on it. Totally. I mean Hardeep's a bit of an old arsehole but racism's racism.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/09/2018 20:51

I'm recording Celebrity Island.

This 1982 programme is good.
