I don't think Sally did state the truth. She doesn't like Hardeep so willfully misunderstood what he said as she walked off. He was just commenting upon how uncomfortable her shoes must be with a bunion.

Ryan didn't hear the comment, has an underlying "thing" about not having women disrespected, so took it upon himself to tell Hardeep off. Given how Hardeep supported him over the Roxanne incident I think his judgement was very poor there.
