Me too Flask.

‘You have another daughter?’

Nononannette · 15/08/2018 19:11

I thought the last handmaiden was pg, the one who killed herself? Was that by a driver too?
Even if a man was fertile sex once a month isn't the ideal way to conceive. No one on the conception boards on here would recommend that!

BishopBrennansArse · 15/08/2018 19:30

Sorry I haven't ever posted before but I've read from the beginning. Also reported Cinders.

Serena won't ever get pregnant by anyone because remember she was shot in the abdomen and that was the end of her childbearing ability?

BishopBrennansArse · 15/08/2018 19:31

Entirely missed FruitLoop's post 😂

CurbsideProphet · 15/08/2018 19:59

I hope series 3 doesn't start too far in the future. I'm torn really. I want to see what happens with the downfall of Gilead, but equally I want to know what happened to June.

Flaskfan · 15/08/2018 20:23

I will allow one more series with June. Unless incredibly good writing, the risk will be more Rick.Crimes than Walter white, iyswim. After that, they should have introduced more elements to take the story elsewhere, and I can decide whether or not to carry on.watching.

CruCru · 15/08/2018 20:50

Aunt Lydia won’t be dead. The actress is too good.

JynxaSmoochum · 15/08/2018 21:52

I have liked the way that despite it being a relatively short book, all the adjusting, modernising and bodying out has kept the spirit of it over both seasons. I'm trying to re-read again (read it last year for season 1) and I am noticing little details that have found their way into season 2 such as a line about a shooting incident around Serena Joy. It is just a line in the book, but the way it's been adapted gives it much more gravitas.

Aridane · 15/08/2018 21:56

June couldn’t get to Canada first time round with a whole team of allies. 2nd time round with a child she magically rescues, no way.

Aridane · 15/08/2018 22:03

I’ve forgotten-but what happened to June’s mother?

CommonFishDiseases · 15/08/2018 22:06

Just watched the finale and feel a bit..... flat. What an emotional rollercoaster. Part of me wishes June had gone ahead with her escape, part of me loves it that she didn't.

When is Season 3 coming to the UK???

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/08/2018 22:26

I don't think CL was in Mayday until the recent events. But he is now.

He probably knew/suspected his driver and his Martha were and that's how he made contact.

legolimb · 15/08/2018 22:28

Aridane June's mother was sent to the colonies.

I think?

MazDazzle · 15/08/2018 22:30

Going by the last 2 series I think we can expect it in April.

I want it now!

SomethingOnce · 15/08/2018 23:36

If they’re going to spin it out I’m going to need less than a year between series.

And C4 showing it at the same time as the US.

Roussette · 16/08/2018 07:09

If ALydia survives (and we don't know that she will... don't tell me anyone if you know for definite!) I wonder what she'll think about being attacked so brutally?

Is she so deluded that she thinks the 'girls' , the HMs love her? Although she's a great character, she doesn't deserve to live. She's brutal... think of those girls stood in the pouring rain holding up heavy stones until their muscles screamed, the losing of eyes, the cattle prod... the mock execution.... it will be intersting to see what happens.

WhirlwindHugs · 16/08/2018 07:26

I don't know... In a weird way June may have more luck escaping alone with Hannah. Someone in the rescue chain dobbed them in last time, if she is alone (or the only one who knows all the details) that may be safer, as long as she can find somewhere safe to hide.

BlessedBeTheFruitLoop · 16/08/2018 08:05

Interesting in the wake of THT, especially with the Boston Globe reference!

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

Trump's 'dirty war' on media draws editorials in 300 US outlets - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-45204397

That's a really interesting question.

Roussette · 16/08/2018 08:35

Yes Blessed today's the day for standing up against Trump's quashing the freedom of the press. It's now 350 outlets to include Guardian UK.

On AuntL, I do think she is deluded enough to think the girls like or even love her, she puts herself up as their protector, mentor etc. How will this vicious attack affect her mental state? (if she survives)

ciderhouserules · 16/08/2018 08:50

I think AL survives. Her character still has so much to give Grin

She will prob blame the attack on Emily's MH. After all, she's been to the colonies, and that's enough to send anyone over the edge. And Aunt Lydia's been so good to her! No, she was crazy, not angry. Angry

noblegiraffe · 16/08/2018 09:08

A bit like Waterford being truly baffled that Eden ran away, and that June hid from him.

I’m not convinced by a third series being the June on her own show. So much of the appeal has been from the situation where she has been trapped in the Waterford household. The episodes of S2 where she was on the run weren’t, IMO as compelling as when she was under the control of Gilead. Serena and Aunt Lydia have been brilliant in their interactions with June and that would be a loss.

Yes. I suppose they have to have that delusion, the conviction that their victims are grateful really, in order to live with what they're doing.

Serena doesn't though, does she? She was honest enough with herself to recognise that while June felt some sympathy with & connection to her at times, she hated Fred & Gilead in general.

Aridane · 16/08/2018 11:33

I can't see AL not being in the next series

TomHardysBackpack · 16/08/2018 11:45

Just marking place so I can read later
