ellenanora5 i loved Prisoners wives too

topcat2014 · 26/08/2018 12:21

M missed it last week, not bothered though..

Lordamighty · 26/08/2018 12:34

Same opinions here. Utter drivel, lame plot, cartoon characters with few redeeming features. I’ve no idea how it’s got to the screen.

Inkanta · 26/08/2018 12:51

It could have been quite good. Looked promising at the start. I thought that was the last episode last week! Going out on a whimper. Too much time is spent of the manic beauty business and 'Polly's' annoying sister. Smile

Tomboytown · 26/08/2018 22:03

Bloody ridiculous nonsense.
Ott characters, hated them all in first 10 minutes.
Sister is hateful, vile
RG is a psycho
Family seem to know nothing about each other but are with each other all the time.
Timelines, ages all wrong.
Affair is ridiculous, I know northerners are friendly, but you don’t have champagne and shots with your builder.
Manchester looks good though.
The writer does the Poldark adaptations so I was really interested to see this, wish I hadn’t bothered.

Botanicbaby · 27/08/2018 12:44

Sexist crap! Instead of blaming her husband for being unfaithful at first they blame the PT for the affair. I think at one point sue Johnston said “pt shouldn’t touch another woman’s property” or some such rubbish. No anger directed towards the bloke. Then vandalising what she thought was the PTs car with “slag”!! Then Bel concedes later that husband is to blame too!! No shit!

Cringe cringe cringe. Can’t bear to watch anymore after that. Manchester looks fab though! I think the sister’s character is deliberately meant to be over-egged awfulness for dramatic effect but with the wishy-washyness of the other characters it’s coming across as too far-fetched.

Missushb · 28/08/2018 21:16

The opening titles too...so cheesy!

HelloGabriel · 28/08/2018 22:17

I'm still in Grin anyone else?

Can't see how they're going to wrap this up tomorrow, it's turned into a complete clusterfuck.

Missushb · 28/08/2018 22:33

I know. Nothing makes any sense now!! None of them are very likeable. I'm so confused. Is it credible that someone would wait so long for their wife's sister?! Utter nonsense. Will be tuning in again tomorrow of course! What else can happen? Lorelei definitely pregnant?

dogsdinnerlady · 29/08/2018 07:52

I know it's been a long time since I was in a beauty salon but don't the practitioners usually wear overalls or something? They seem to offer hairdressing, fillers, Botox and all sorts of skilled treatments but the whole place looks more like a charity shop.
Why does the sister with the Disney kid (can't remember her name} always wear off the shoulder tops?

wombatsears · 29/08/2018 13:27

Why does it break into a musical once an episode?

Tomboytown · 29/08/2018 14:07

I actually don’t mind th musical bit, makes me smile.
All a bit messy now isn’t it?

wombatsears · 29/08/2018 18:57

The blonde sister is now an arsonist.
The mum is a stalker on a moped.
The dad is a sex addict.
The husband and wife are both adulterers.

Could it get messier!?

HelloGabriel · 29/08/2018 21:08

This is really starting to piss me off Angry All blame on the woman as per!!

MindBodyChocolate · 29/08/2018 21:11

Wtf is going on???!!! All these weddings... just weird.

AutumnGlitterBall · 29/08/2018 21:19

I thought the trailer billed this as a family drama with a woman rebuilding her relationship with her mother but it’s turned out to be utter dross! All this partner swapping, four sisters who couldn’t have been less related if they tried, random storylines which don’t have any impact (Disney’s dad, the big reveal over dad’s accident, sister four having a secret man) and Teddy’s great plan to steal Bel. How on Earth did this come from the same writer as Poldark?

IcedPurple · 29/08/2018 21:20

For a finale, this is incredibly boring and slow moving.

And none of the dialogues or characters are convincing. Not one.

MindBodyChocolate · 29/08/2018 21:30

It is unbelievable that it’s from the Poldark writers. It’s just weird. Not a proper drama, not a thriller, odd musical interludes.

Hepzibar · 29/08/2018 21:34

The meaningful looks, the wistful music, Bel FFS!

Teddy - cat who's got the cream.

And what the outfits. Horrific as the storyline

Snugglepiggy · 29/08/2018 21:36

I keep watching this because it's just so bad I strangely can't tear myself away.Has that been a deliberate ploy by the writer and the BBC ?I usually like Polly Walker, but what was she thinking of agreeing to be in this. And surely Sue Johnson still gets the pick of some good scripts.I'm coming to the conclusion that ITV often trumps the BBC with contemporary dramas.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/08/2018 21:37

JUST seen last nights. Will watch tonight’s tomorow

Yes it’s cheesy. Yes the singing Is a bit laa laa

But it’s essy watching and enjoyable

‘Runs from all’

So rg is def the dad of lorries brother

MindBodyChocolate · 29/08/2018 21:38

I’ve invested too much now not to watch to the end. It is just bizarre though.

IcedPurple · 29/08/2018 21:39

Is it a sad reflection on the lack of roles for mature women that actresses of the caliber of Sue Johnston and Polly Walker are wasted on this tripe?

And Lorelei has to be one of the least believable TV characters I've seen for a long time? Aside from the fact that she can afford that glamorous Manchester pad on a PT's salary - apparantly with just one client! - why is a beautiful young woman so fixated on a married man 2 decades her senior? It's nonsense!

IcedPurple · 29/08/2018 21:41

And the waters just HAD to noisily break right at the worst moment.

Because of course they did.

And she's going to deliver there and then because there are no ambulances in Manchester and it only takes a few minutes to birth a baby.

MindBodyChocolate · 29/08/2018 21:48

Makes me want to move to Manchester as on my salary I’ll obviously have a dual level penthouse suite with rooftop pool if their accommodation is anything to go by.
