Sarah Parish has continued to work pretty consistently with breaks for maternity leave. Last thing I saw her in was Broadchurch 3 but a brief look at her IMDb shows she's been in some American shows, Sky shows and a couple films.

Sadly she and James had to deal with the loss of their eldest child too.

Timefortea99 · 02/08/2018 22:09

SP was in the comedy W1A. Looks strange. Cosmetic surgery overload. Played a good part though.

RebuiltWithoutYou · 03/08/2018 18:53

I know what you mean. I just stopped watching it on iPlayer after it seemed to hint that Bel was ignoring her husband and thus he had no option but to fall for this girl that was paying him more attention. I was looking forward to it, being written by a woman and all that. Maybe i bailed too early

IcedPurple · 04/08/2018 18:15

it seemed to hint that Bel was ignoring her husband and thus he had no option but to fall for this girl that was paying him more attention.

I thought the same. The wife had the cheek to go back to work in the family business - having given up her career to raise their children - and of course poor hubbie feels all neglected and just can't help falling into bed with another woman.

I'll give the next episode a go because I love Polly Walker, but it doesn't look that promising.

VanGoghsDog · 04/08/2018 23:04

Yeah, the poor hubby feeling neglected over the course of, what, three fucking weeks?

I thought it was a bit silly - how did RG manage to force plumber guy and pt to have an affair? He could convince plumber to continue I suppose but how did he manage to get the pt to do it, and who shags someone without asking if they are available and then go on to whine about not having known?

RG and 'Bel' would look better together anyway, and RG's wife would go better with the puimber (her going on about how great she looked - she looked totally normal to me).

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2018 21:28

I didn't see it last week but just watching second episode now. It's very strange.

IcedPurple · 07/08/2018 21:37

This episode is much worse than the first so far. Completely unbelievable and really clunky script.

Plus, don't get me started on the sexism. Once, just once, could we have a TV drama where a man in his 40s or 50s got cheated on with a perfect looking man half his age?

Just once?

LARLARLAND · 07/08/2018 21:48

I hate it.

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2018 21:48

I don't really know what's going on but like Polly Walker's glasses Grin Manchester looks lovely.

VanGoghsDog · 07/08/2018 21:54

It's incomprehensible.

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2018 21:56

It's like the outline for a story without any substance.

LARLARLAND · 07/08/2018 21:59

I don’t believe any of the characters or any of the storylines. Robson Green married someone because he loved her sister??

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2018 22:00

Creepy.

Showergel1 · 07/08/2018 22:01

Very disappointing. 2 out of 6 episodes and I have no motivation to watch it.
I think it's trying to be a bit Doctor Foster but it's played its hand too soon. We know the motivation for everything and even if we don't I don't care enough to see if I'm wrong.
Manchester looks good though.

HesterShaw1 · 07/08/2018 22:03

I didn't even watch Cutting It really, but when watching it for 10 minutes before giving up this evening I said "This is exactly like Cutting It".

IcedPurple · 07/08/2018 22:07

I wouldn't hire that Lorelei. The exercises she does look like something you could get off any YouTube vid for free. And in a public park with maybe the rain pissing down? No thanks. If I'm paying, at least get me a private location.

Oh, and what 'personal trainer' opens up to her brand new client about her affair with a married man? The work-out can't be that strenuous if they can carry on a long conversation in the midst of it.

topcat2014 · 07/08/2018 22:26

Now, I have just had my weekly pt session in the park - and I love it, much more fun than being stuck inside a sweaty gym.

Love doing boxing moves too..

Apart from that:

Who new hair salons earned enough money for those houses..

James Murray is about 44, whereas his character is 'pushing 50'.

His wife looked better 'before'.

Quite like the Sue Johnston character though.

Robson Green - what is the thing with the younger man who is being paid, and the "Daddy O". Not quite ringing true.

Also, who, in real life, would pick one sister if you couldn't have the other - I thought that only happened in Royal Families in the middle ages.

topcat2014 · 07/08/2018 22:26

who KNEW..duh!

VanGoghsDog · 07/08/2018 22:33

What woman, when told her sister is having an affair, would side with the bil? I mean, I know people shouldn't have affairs but it's surely family all the way - I'd not feel at all comfortable keeping that 'knowledge' secret from my sister (the knowledge that I knew about it, imaginary though it is) and would tell my bil in no uncertain terms that I will be talking to her about it and not to confide in me again as it's inappropriate.

Plus, her whole family thinks Bel's having an affair cos she had her hair done? Bunch of twats. I thought they lived for hair dos?

topcat2014 · 07/08/2018 22:36

All seems a bit to involved in each others lives - but then that is the bread and butter of most dramas.

A little less soap and a little more "Dr Foster" would make me want to carry on watching.

IcedPurple · 07/08/2018 22:48

*Now, I have just had my weekly pt session in the park - and I love it, much more fun than being stuck inside a sweaty gym.

Fair enough, but if I was going to pay good money for a PT, I'd expect a bit of privacy, some equipment and not just flailiing around half-heartedly enough to be able to continue a conversation about her shagging my husband!

James Murray is about 44, whereas his character is 'pushing 50'.

Yeah he and his wife are meant to be about the same age, but they look - and the actors are - about 10 years apart. Now, I suppose you could say this is an interesting reversal of the usual trend whereby actresses are often much younger than the women they portray on screen, but in this case, I think, it just emphasises the sexism of this show. The woman is fretting over her wrinkles and saggy jowls, while her hot hubbie has no trouble attracting super-fit women half his age.

It's such a cliche. And I love Polly Walker, so hate seeing her in such a boring role.

Hogtini · 08/08/2018 01:05

What a load of steaming shite it is. Hated watching her do the pick me dance then her daughter randomly showing up to accuse her of having an affair! Wtf? And the RG character - are we meant to believe that someone would play the long game for 20+ years and marry their sister?! Then that footballer being the dad of the kid..🙄 So clichéd and cringey.

VanGoghsDog · 08/08/2018 09:30

If there are two black people in a TV show they are always related.......yes, it was obvious the minute he walked in!

AveABanana · 08/08/2018 11:19

Why not just do another series of Cutting It? Even the salon looks the same.

woodhill · 08/08/2018 13:22

Used to like cutting it as it was so tacky

Liked Eugene - didn't he have a silly saying.

This seems very weak and hard to follow
