Just finished episode 6 and I’m really enjoying this series so far! Anyone else binging it?

What I don't understand about Carol and Barb killing each other at the end is is seemed they were killed with their own weapons. Carol had a screwdriver and a knife type thing, and the screwdriver was in her back, and the knife didn't look sharp enough to put that cut on Barb. Whereas Barb had the razor which would have cut her in that way. My DS has a theory someone else was there.

This is an extremely interesting theory that I am on board with in theory, but if Carol's shiv thing cut Barb's throat and she dropped her other weapon and turned to leave, Barb coulda stabbed her in the back. The razor does seem more likely to have caused the throat cut but Carol's thing looked fairly sharp.

@GreenMeerkat
I don't know much about the US legal/justice system but is t the death penalty illegal in New York State. In which case, how could Taystee get it?

I don't know for sure, but the guards were talking about it in episode 11 or 12 saying that it's federal prison, so it could happen. I don't know the laws but it sounds like there's a loophole there. It was Stefanowicz (?) and Luschek talking about it.

Namechangeforhair · 03/08/2018 22:37

Who is the one who keeps breaking her nose? Do we know her back story ?

GreenMeerkat · 03/08/2018 22:48

@condepetie I've done a bit of google research and found that she has been tried in federal court as she broke a federal law, or was accused of rather, as the crime was committed in prison, making it federal jurisdiction rather than the state.

condepetie · 03/08/2018 22:53

@Namechangeforhair

Dwight. No, she's just there to be really annoying. We don't know anything at all about her.

@GreenMeerkat ooo, that's interesting! I didn't know that was a thing at all, just sort of went by what the characters were saying.

Just finished watching this season tonight and like previous posters am curious if Barb and Carol did kill each other .... the scene switch to Frieda eating a "pudding cup" looking quite content (possibly even smiling?) makes me wonder if she had some involvement.

Gutted about Taystee and hoping that it somehow all works out in the end (appeal, Cindy/Suzanne retract statement. ... anything!)

Mega feels for Blanca/Diablo ... like others Blanca being a (potential) illegal immigrant was a total curveball ... surely she'd have known her own immigration status and that she'd be released to some form of immigration centre/deported having served her time in prison, thus NOT happy about early release?

I think this season has left more questions open than it's answered and hope they CAN wrap things up in a final season but I doubt it.

Daddy is a hottie. I'm all about Nicky though

Me too, I’ve had a crush on her since season 1

Oscha · 04/08/2018 13:38

I don’t think they’ll let Taystee be executed. Caputo and Cindy will team up and reveal the truth. I have faith!

JustGettingStarted · 04/08/2018 14:37

Suzanne won't be able to testify about what happened, although it's possible that she may say something to lead others to the truth.

Cheesymonster · 04/08/2018 20:54

Just finished. Loved Aleida this season. Also carol and barb. Hated Badison and her accent. Found piper and Alex so boring. Heartbroken for Blanca and Taystee. And yes I also think Daddy is hot!!

Cheesymonster · 04/08/2018 20:56

Oh and I really missed Boo and the two meth heads - Angie and Leanne I think?

Namechangeforhair · 04/08/2018 21:45

Alex and Piper were so dull. Hope they aren't in the next series.

SpaghettiDinner · 06/08/2018 00:21

Just finished it! Loved it.

Didn't Cindy make a deal to give evidence in return for no extra time on her sentence? Poor Taystee. Sad

I think the Piper in real life went on to become a penal reform campaigner so I don't think we've seen the last of her.... I wonder if Morello's baby dies and she becomes involved that way? No 7 month pregnant woman should be on a standard wing of a maximum security jail.

Oliphantintheroom · 07/08/2018 19:57

Finished today, was so heartbroken for Blanca and Diablo!
Hated Badison, I get that’s what the writers wanted but actually cringed watching her
Glad they all managed a bit of fun with the kickball at the end.

Do you think Taystee knew that cindy knew the truth? In one of the last few episodes (can’t remember which as binge watched) I think when she was sat in the cell talking to caputo.....she says something like not ever her friends are there for her and when Cindy gave evidence it was almost like Taystee was waitIng for her to tell the truth (and was then visibly disappointed at the evidence she did give)

catinboots9 · 11/08/2018 11:10

Just finished it. I thought it was great! Also wondered if Frida had something to do with Carol and Barb's demise.

@SpaghettiDinner unfortunately pregnant women in max security are kept on the wing until they go into labour (in the UK anyway)

AccioPizza · 11/08/2018 12:11

I also thought someone else had a hand in Carol and Barbs ending and wondered where Luscheck disappeared to in such a hurry... Hmm

bychoiceornot · 11/08/2018 12:29

As with many PP, I'm hoping for far less Piper next series, she's not grown any less annoying over the seasons. I know it was originally meant to be her story, but she bores me rigid during her scenes, and I just want the scene to switch back to the others.

I was surprised to find myself rooting so hard for Caputo and Fig, really pleased at their ending together. I love Fig, she's a strong woman and great character, but it was nice to see her becoming more vulnerable this season.

The way the showed the jury's verdict for Taystee was well done, I thought. More heartbreaking to see it all played out in her reaction, then those of the crowds, rather than hearing the words. Also thought her face on the bus when she realises why Cindy was there and that she was going to testify against her was brilliantly done.

Always love Aleida when she pops up on the screen. So many great lines this series, and then that sad moment when she realises Daya is high and she's been supplying her own daughter, but if she stops, she won't get her other kids back and Daya will get the drugs elsewhere... great change of pace.

The Barb/Carol backstory was one of my faves, love how that played out, and the reveal when they met up to carry out their real plan. Really interesting to read the theories about someone else being involved in their demise at the end, can't wait to see how that plays out.

Poor poor Blanca, that moment at the end was the saddest by far for me. The realisation and then fear on her face, especially after the joy when she called Diablo. And then to see him there waiting for her...

I also thought the girl playing Daddy was very hot... and definitely not what I had pictured when they first mentioned 'Daddy'!

Choccywoccyhooha · 21/08/2018 00:59

I've just finished, I tried really hard not to binge.

I am heartbroken for Taystee, utterly devastated. I hope Series 7 sees a successful appeal. I think Caputo and Fig will become an even bigger thorn in the side of the corporation.

The awful reality of being pregnant in prison, particularly in America, is horrendous. I used to do some stuff with an American childbirth education group and it's heartbreaking to hear how these women are treated, being shackled during labour is common place.

So many sad stories though this series, Red and Daya's downward spirals, Gloria's situation, Blanca's awful release into the hands of immigration, the realisation of just how petty some of the crimes committed were.

Good riddance to Piper, but she has been replaced by the equally irritating Badison.

hmmwhatatodo · 31/08/2018 19:13

Wow, just finished binge watching it over 3 days. Didn’t enjoy the first episode at all when Suzanne was ‘watching the characters on TV. Yes, Piper was dull and for the first time, I found her quite irritating. Dayas change of character felt a bit unbelievable for me and I went from liking her to really disliking her quite quickly. Overall it wasn’t as funny as the earlier ones but Aleida kept me amused, especially with the ‘my names Aleida’ line. Also couldn’t bear Badison and her strange accent, I’d be happy to never see her again. I was also disappointed not to see older characters (really liked the two redneck types, forget their names now) but I guess it wouldn’t have been plausible. Took me ages to figure out that young Frida was old Frida and the same with the younger versions of the older sisters; wow, what a pair those two were. Taystee and Cindy were amazing throughout. The only guard I could take to was good old Lusechek. Of course, felt very sad for the ones sent to immigration, especially Blanca who’s character has developed nicely over time. Hmm, what to do till the next one comes out. Can’t believe it could be the last!
