I agree about the PTSD marvellous. I don't think it was as apparent as it could have been. We've noticed the change in him over the four/three series particularly these last 12 episodes and realised something was going on but I'm not sure everyone has noticed it. I think we needed to see a few more scenes of him struggling mentally and trying to hide it. Possibly some nightmares waking in a sweat or sudden flashback moments clouding his judgment and causing him to hesitate. In many ways he seemed himself for a lot of the time albeit a bit sadder and precious little mention of Molly until these last few episodes. I think to some people it may appear that he's made a rational decision to be with Georgie. It's obvious she's struggled to move on and she's not really over Elvis. There's desperation on both sides.

Rhubarb01 · 24/07/2018 23:06

Oh and I did genuinely shed a little tear when he finally got it on with Georgie because it did feel like he'd just cheated on us all -- just a bit over invested even though I can still find it in me to forgive him a bit.

He's definitely going to find his way back to Molly...eventually! I'm sure of it and if it doesn't happen on screen it will definitely happen on fanfic.

StopAtTheRedLight · 24/07/2018 23:26

Have been off this board for a few years. New moniker but I was one of the Series 1 ladies :-) Did not like that ending. No bloody way they could survive the jump. Plus, they are sitting targets once down there. And why didn't they call it in???

MarvellouslyMental · 24/07/2018 23:31

I’ll look forward to reading that Rhu. Glad I’m not alone - I didn’t want to admit there were tears in my eyes at that moment too. We’ve all been on such a journey with Molly and CJ. Some very unhappy people on Twitter tonight too. I did wonder if Kingy and Maisie had their suspicions about them - and thought Kingy might have had a man chat with him and that might have outed the PTSD. Not sure I can forgive him yet but do understand why they got to that point, but personally didn’t think any of the CJ/Lane stuff was needed, other than him feeling protective of her. I wonder what BA thought about it all, and if he knew from the beginning that wasn’t going to happen?

MarvellouslyMental · 24/07/2018 23:33

*was, not wasn’t!!!

Rhubarb01 · 24/07/2018 23:41

There's an interesting but possibly misleading article about a potential series 5 (not confirmed) link below. It's probably bunkum but what's interesting is the part talking to Olly Rix about his character Bones and then mention of a Dallas moment. Who was it who kept suggesting that?

Funnily enough the only way I could see a Dallas moment working was if CJ woke from a bad dream and it turned out he'd imagined all the stuff about Bones being in charge in his absence after the Jungle episode and getting blown up etc etc. That would change the whole CJ and Georgie scenario entirely. It would be utterly laughable if it did happen but....who knows?

eejittwo · 25/07/2018 07:25

I’m the one banging on about Dallas moments, but I’m rewinding toKabul and the night Elvis and Georgie got back together. We could still have the whole Bones thing and PTSD and CJ falling apart AND the odd phone all or Skype chat with Elvis instead of ghastly mother, who has thankfully absent recently.

Bonnefoi · 25/07/2018 07:41

I'm over this now. Should have stopped watching when I burst out laughing at Bones over the top death scene.

Whole thing since after Nigeria has been disappointing.

Any new series would only be watched on fast forward for BA moments.

Upside BA remains lovely to look at and good actor. Shame about the plot. 🙄

QueenoftheNights · 25/07/2018 08:21

I enjoyed series 1 but it's gone downhill since. Sooo many reasons. So many bad military/ tactical decisions/cock ups (why was Our Girl not backed up with armed soldiers when transporting the boy?)
Why were the ordinary soldiers fighting alongside SAS last night in the final shoot out? This just WOULD NOT HAPPEN!

Worst, though I cannot hear a word Michelle Keegan says- her accent, her intonation.....

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2018 08:52

Morning!

Well, I'm caught between a bit of sadness and irritation this morning. I'm sad at the thought that for all it's flaws and improbabilities there might not be anymore new OG for us to mull over and discuss. After four years it's sad to think it might be all over even if it hasn't always lived up to our hopes and made us a bit annoyed at times. However, I'm also a bit irritated by the the thought that as much as there was a general rounding up of stories at the end, actually some things weren't resolved eg CJ's mental state, Georgie's mental state, all the other decisions about who gets which pieces of furniture in the divorce settlement! Grin

So I'm caught a bit between thinking it's possibly the end and has been written that way just in case and wishing there could have been perhaps one final series in which we get a more serious and definite ending/resolution to where everyone is by the conclusion.

I don't suppose that a one-off 90 minute drama might be possible? I wouldn't mind seeing what happened when, hopefully still with all their arms and legs intact after that jump, they returned home and we see the true aftermath. I do, however, reckon that 'Charlie' could have imagined that very last part (the jump) in a dream/delirium. What about a Downton like Christmas special just to round it off - ooh just remembered Matthew's car crash moment Sad

Bonnefoi · 25/07/2018 09:38

Made DH listen to me blathering on about OG this morning. Bless him he was very patient as has no interest all.

He said: remember you felt like this over Buffy The Vampire Slayer programme. (Didn't like Spike/Buffy for anyone that watched it eons ago).

Clearly I have form for becoming overly attached to TV characters. Grin And I'm not growing out of it.

In conclusion, I need to get a life and/or for Lacey Turner to return to feel the love for OG again so everything from Nepal onwards never happened.

I choose denial. It's my happy place. Smile

Flowerfan · 25/07/2018 16:12

Afternoon,
Well like you Rhu I am still mulling it all over, in fact, I haven't thought about much else whilst doing some housework (well hoovering) easy to let your mind wander!
Really glad nobody died and truly a cliff hanger!! could be the end or left open for another series.
All up to BBC, TG and the actors but strange not looking forward to next Tuesday's episode.
Still some health problems here so difficult to join watchalong but I do read all your messages and enjoy them.
Here's hoping for good news..

Bonnefoi · 25/07/2018 20:00

Question for you anybody seen the outtakes section of the Prime TV pass or DVD yet? There's a CJ/G scene there that I was a bit, hmmm about regard future longevity, etc.

Magi84 · 25/07/2018 20:17

Hi everyone. I think now I'm on holiday and wasn't able to see the last three episodes was probably a good thing. Feel now I may never watch them. I've gleaned from all you've been saying that things definitely didn't go the way I would have wanted. I think I'll stay in my series one bubble a bit like Bonnefoi and pretend Nepal et al never happened. I suppose in a way from BA's point of view this did make better use of his acting skills but still in my selfish little world I liked Captain Sternface and his adherence to Army Regulations.

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2018 20:37

I haven't got the DVD or seen that Bonnefoi. Can you fill us in on the details. I'm now intrigued.

MarvellouslyMental · 25/07/2018 20:49

I’ve spent far too much time today reading Twitter comments - some consolation there that the majority were against CJ and Lane. After lots of thinking today, I’ve decided we didn’t really need to see that scene last night. As Rhu said yesterday, feel very cheated we only got a kiss in Series 1 and we were not party to the conversation (or anything else that did or didn’t happen) after Sohail died, between Molly and Captain James. I too am going to retreat into my Series 1 bubble but have to admit, for the small bit I’ve watched today, even it’s lost a little bit of its sparkle at the moment. Hmm

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2018 21:01

It's still bothering me too marvellous. I'm trying to tell myself don't be daft but we've spent so long chatting on here because of series 1 and CJ and Molly, I can't help feeling sad. I even liked series 2 thanks to Elvis but this series has ended somewhat unfortunately and not what I'd consider conclusively either.

Off to watch the Bletchley Circle revamp to distract myself for a bit.

Bonnefoi · 25/07/2018 21:05

Rhubarb. They are cuddling after doing the deed. CJ says we'll always be honest with ourselves and each other and we'll be ok. Which would possible suggest lies were issue with marriage.

G says we need to get used to each other me not being Molly you not being ... (inference is Elvis. )

He say something but their bond with Elvis, bla bla.

My take on that is there is no love there, both are alone having lost previous lovers but not in love with each other. It's no statement of I want you to be the last thing I see, if you see what I mean.

Doesn't mean they won't be written to be great love story of course.

I'm grasping at straws again. Darn it.

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2018 21:27

Thanks for that Bonnefoi that's interesting. As you say it doesn't sound like romantic love. They do sound like two troubled souls who are drawn together by circumstance and loss. When you consider how much CJ held back in series 1, its just not him at all to just go for it - and in barracks! Would like to have seen Kingy's face if he'd popped in with the duty roster.

Still annoyed by lack of series 1 action!

eejittwo · 25/07/2018 22:20

Agreed - not that I watched the scene, tbh. They are both hurting, feeling more than a little bit lost, and trust each other with their lives, so, on one level, unsurprising that they fall into bed but there’s too much for each of them to work through/ get over for it to end well. For Georgie, she’s re-running the Dr Dull scenario, effectively on the rebound (as it were) as well as PTSD. For CJ, where DO I start, and I don’t know him as well as the rest of you do. Either way, as someone observed above, it does make Georgie a bit of a bed-hopper.

Flowerfan · 25/07/2018 22:41

I am totally CJ/BA so just really pleased he is Alive!
I think I am going to try and separate the pilot and series 1 in my mind as one story and the rest as a new one. Not sure if it will work though.
I think being close after all they had been through pushed them together and unfortunately these things do happen in real life between work mates in ordinary jobs!
We will wait out again and see what happens.
Goodnight all maybe I will sleep tonight last night my mind wouldn’t stop.

AngeloMysterioso · 25/07/2018 22:45

I've just caught up. Felt mostly sad during the CJ/GL scene, and wondering why we never got anything like that with him and Molly. Just a few chaste kisses! Humph.

Ilovelblue · 26/07/2018 00:09

Flower I agree with you there. These things do happen. I worked with somebody who got together with her now husband when he was going through a bad patch with his wife and they were separating. I think they've been married about 6 years now. Also agree with you eejit that Georgie is sort of on the rebound. Yes, have to say that when you count up Georgie's lovers, we've had four so far. It does make her seem some sort of slapper unfortunately.

It's hardly the love story that series 1 turned out to be though. Why on earth we couldn't have had more than that kiss in the bunker and the start of a kiss at CJ's house in Bath in series 1, I have no idea. Wonder what changed TG's mind?

Too much to ponder over still. I will see some of you for the watchalong on Thursday evening.

Calling Georgie a slapper for having four different men over a period of three/four years is a bit much. Two of them long-term serious relationships where she was engaged.

Ilovelblue · 26/07/2018 13:12

Sorry ladies, all mixed up. Put it down to tbe heat. We said Friday for the watchalong for ep 7 not tonight. Ooops.
