at magi's request here is the first grass thread ( we will probably need more than one!).

Can't believe it time for Queen's again. Hope the weather holds out- bit gloomy in the north west.Grin

( can't link to other thread as on my phone).

See you all later- the only thing I'm not looking forward to is the likelihood it will be Mr Castle in the commentary box.Grin

Cilic is already playing- and, as the number 3 seed, and last year's finalist, I find it really crap that he's on court 2.

Great for the spectators on court 2 of course. But really, the Raonic/Broady match was more worthy of a court one slot ?(and I like Raonic, a lot, but is it just because Broady is British?).

Agree about Court 2 Raahh.
What is Peter Fleming on about? He is saying there are no improvements in Cilic's game except his forehand is better Hmm But he's always had a strong forehand. It's his backhand that's improved the most IMHO.

Nishioka isn't a player I see much- but one thing I remember about him is he was wearing the same style of checked shorts as Stan, the year Stan won RG. Nishioka however lost in the first round.

Peter Fleming can sometimes talk rubbish.

Apparently , watching Tsitsipas the other week, he said the Greek player couldn't serve on clay.

The same player who reached the Barcelona final, so he must be doing something right, eh, Peter?

I was thinking that about cilic being on court 2 when he was last years finalist - he should have been on court 1 at least.

I know he seems like a pretty unassuming sort of guy but I do feel a bit sorry for him in the way that he’s treated sometimes. It was the same at queens when he always seemed to be on an outside court.

Fizzy I think there comes a point when being too laid back is not a good thing- I'd be a bit resentful, if it was me. He's the Aussie open finalist, he's just won Queen's. It just seems really disrespectful. Clearly someone decides who they think the public want to watch- and they don't take into consideration the actual standing of the player.

It's why so many high ranked women were sidelined last year, to make room for men on the show courts. Angry.

Fizzy I get the same feelings of indignation (though it might not happen now) about how Kyle Edmund- (remember him? he's the British number 1, media people)- has been ignored of late, because of Murray's 'comeback'.

I get it, he was the best player we have had- but I get the feeling it's only a matter of time before Kyle will start to get narked that no matter what he does, he is coming second best to a player who isn't even playing!

Yes I guess Kyle must be feeling pretty miffed about all the talk being about someone who isn’t even going to be playing at Wimbledon with no real mention of him, as you say the British no 1.

Blimey it's hot out. My dog is going a bit stir crazy, but he won't even venture into to the garden for a wee Grin. (My garden is pretty much shaded all day- which is usually a pain, but a god send when it's like this). It's like an oven though.

I think he's jealous of the resident goady squirrel , who seems to be sun bathing on the fence, and taunting him...

I just turned over to check on some other matches- looks like Harriet Dart has taken a bit of nasty slip, which is a shame, because she was 4-1 up in the second set.

I still haven't got over the horrible injury Mattek-Sands suffered to her knee last year. Sad

Harriet's slip was horrible.

I can't work my red button, but I have figured that channel 990 upwards are the 'red button' equivalent on my Virgin box doo dah.
