yesterday's excitement I didn't realise how near the end of the thread we were!

Me too Jane - loved him (still do!). It seems unbelievable now that a 17yo could win a Slam - just can't imagine that now.
Quality tennis in this tie break...

JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 13:55

I think they need to bring back the Boris style shorts. He's very funny, I'm looking forward to seeing him at Wimbledon.

JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 13:56

They need to stop saying tie-breaker. It's so annoying.

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 14:01

I blame McEnroe.

JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 14:02

Awh I love Mac. I know he can say annoying stuff but I forgive him.

Raahh · 08/06/2018 14:03

tie-breaker is not as annoying as when they just call it a breaker- that really gets on my nerves!

Shame Chicken couldn't get a set there. He certainly tried.

The scoreline at the end might show a straight set win to Thiem, but it won't tell the whole story.

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/06/2018 14:16

Chicken has now run out of steam.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 14:16

Chicken seems to have given up.

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 14:24

Chicken's finally cooked Grin sorry.
Great first two sets though, fair play to him not buckling on the big occasion.

JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 14:25
Grin
Raahh · 08/06/2018 14:26

Marco will always be my hero for the way he dealt with Novak Grin.

I'm pleased for Dom. He deserves to be in the final.

Much better match than I was expecting.

Come on Juan!! Tennis

JaneJeffer · 08/06/2018 14:34

Yes well done Dom. Some great shots there. The worrying thing is that he's the most likely of them all to beat Rafa.

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 14:34

Yeah it's great for Thiem. Well deserved. He's great to watch too.

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 16:04

How did Delpo not win that set?!

Raahh · 08/06/2018 16:12

Things are looking good for Rafa now.

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/06/2018 16:15

But I am a little torn, because I do like Delpo

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/06/2018 16:16

and he has the chance to break back.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 16:20

Meh

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 16:21

Oops posted too soon. I think Delpo would have had to take one of those 7 break points to have a chance - Rafa is too good once he gets in front.

Raahh · 08/06/2018 16:32

Rafa doesn't look like he wants to hang about.

A bagel here would be very sad.

ladymelbourne1926 · 08/06/2018 16:35

Finally home and got the tennis on Smile
Any other opponent and I'd be cheering for Del Potro here, but not against Rafa.
Has Del Potro not really shown up or is Rafa just playing awesome?

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 16:36

This match is flat as a pancake - not what I expected at all Sad

PrivateParkin · 08/06/2018 16:38

Rafa is winning all the short points. That's where Delpo would have had to cash in IMHO to have any chance. His forehand has gone as well - too many errors.

Raahh · 08/06/2018 16:38

lady Rafa seemed to move up a gear. But Delpo may be having problems with his hip.

Funny the commentators should say about Rafa not taking the crowds chanting for Delpo personally- Roger takes it very personally- it was part of the problems in the final in Indian Wells. He likes to be the one being cheered for, does Roger.Grin.
