yesterday's excitement I didn't realise how near the end of the thread we were!

Re. Dan Evans, I agree with it being stupid behaviour more than anything else. I'm more annoyed at the ridiculous judgement and sexism heaped on Naomi Brody when she posted pictures of herself in a nightclub (or similar, wasn't it) and they withdrew her funding. Long time ago now and I hope they would behave differently now.

PrivateParkin · 12/06/2018 22:22

Yes I agree with that Bagel. Hopefully now that wouldn't happen, but i still think there are double standards: eg I Surbiton last week, some British women were getting great results but
it was overlooked as Dan Evans was playing! He's served his time though so that's fair enough, but it's a shame more wasn't made of the women's results there.

I see Roger Federer is back on twitter - did anyone see that someone asked him what Mirka thought of him starting to play again, and Federer replied: "she is glad to have me out of the house"!

PrivateParkin · 13/06/2018 16:07

So Rafa's out of Queens eh Sad really hope he makes it to Wimbledon.

Raahh · 13/06/2018 16:36

Private I'm not surprised, really. He's had such a heavy schedule lately, it's got to to have had an effect.

I don't know if he'll go to Wimbledon . I hope he does, but part of me thinks he will be wise to skip it.

I got over excited before, when Mischa Zverev took the first set against Roger... Grin

Raahh - yes, when you think of how many matches he's played, it's understandable.

Hope he doesn't miss Wimbledon!

JaneJeffer · 15/06/2018 10:43

I can't wait for Queen's to start, this week seems so long! May be some fisticuffs between us here over watching tennis or World Cup though.

PrivateParkin · 15/06/2018 18:24

I was just thinking that myself Jane!! This is one looooong week. Come on Queens, hurry up!!

I see Andy Murray played a practice set there today... I don't know if he's decided whether he's definitely playing the tournament or not though.

PrivateParkin · 15/06/2018 18:27

Delpo is out of Queens as well - no surprise really. He'll play the Boodles (I really hate that name for some reason) exhibition instead.

Raahh · 15/06/2018 18:43

OhSad I'm disappointed Juan isn't playing, but given he got much further than expected in Paris, (and seemed to be struggling at the end) it's not a surprise).

Delighted to see that Andy will be playing at Queen's. Hope he is 100% & goes a long way.

PrivateParkin · 16/06/2018 12:19

Andy has drawn Kyrgios in the first round!!! Shock

magimedi · 16/06/2018 12:49

Both back from injury - well the BBC will deffo show that match.

Roll on Monday!

JaneJeffer · 16/06/2018 14:05

Not Kyrgios, I've enjoyed not seeing him for a while. Come on Andy!!

Raahh · 16/06/2018 14:11

Kyrgios is playing in Stuttgart, and is playing Federer this afternoon. Part of me rather hopes Nick wins it really, since Roger clearly entered expecting an easy ride.

OP posts:
magimedi · 16/06/2018 14:34

Much as I dislike Federer's smugness I dislike Kyrgios even more.

Fizzywinegum · 16/06/2018 14:45

I can’t stand Kyrgios either.

Hope that Andy Murray is fit and manages to do well although it will be difficult for him having been out of the game for so long.

It will be nice to see him back especially if he beats Kyrgios.

Raahh · 16/06/2018 16:17

I think at the moment, Roger's smugness has been getting to me even more than my dislike for Nick. Which really is saying something- because I can't stand Kyrgios^. Grin

On the plus side- the further Nick goes in Stuttgart, the better it might be for Murray, as he might be a bit tired.

Raahh I fear you are going over to the dark side. I may have to perform an exorcism using Kgyrios' giant crucifix.

PrivateParkin · 16/06/2018 20:23

Come on Raahh! Come and join me on the Kyrgios dark side! Grin

Raahh · 16/06/2018 20:52
Grin well, Kyrgios let me down, so he's off my Christmas card list, although it was a tight match in the end.

Roger is still smug though. Grin

Queens starts tomorrw. Tennis

About an hour earlier on the BBC red button (12.30, I think).

Go! Andy!

(I know he ain't playing until Tuesday)

magimedi · 17/06/2018 22:32

@Raahh

We need a grass thread!

ferrier · 18/06/2018 00:38

Ah it's my time of year at last.

Have been watching the ladies at Rosmalen and such a joy to see an all court game. Helped by Kirsten Flipkens making it all the way to the final. Also watched some of the ladies at Nottingham.

Haven't seen any mens as it doesn't seem to have been on any of the channels. But delighted that Roger defeated Nick and Milos and is back to no.1. Needless to say, I don't see any smugness in him. He does occasionally make a joke of his situation. But other than that I do find him quite diffident about his status in the game.

Onward to Halle and Queens. Was delighted that Lopez won last year as he's another of my favourites, especially on grass. I saw him at Wimbledon a few years back and he is veeeery swoony!

PrivateParkin · 18/06/2018 07:17

Ah ferrier I love an all-court game too, maybe even some serve and volley if we're lucky!

Yippee Queen's is finally here! I see Carol is doing the weather from there on BBC Breakfast this morning Grin so it must officially be the grass court season now!

Raahh · 18/06/2018 07:27

private I've just started a grass thread. Can't link on my phone .

The weather here was really nice until about an hour ago. Now it looks like we are about to get rain!
