Not much longer to wait out for the Nigeria episodes! Some of us are still mourning the death of Elvis.

No gobbing off on your first day.... well she didn't remember that at Brize Norton did she.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 21:50

Nice to hear the repeat of Geddings words and realise that Molly has achieved all of this.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 21:52

I like this reunion with her Mum, sad as it is that Dave Dawes has prevented it so far.

Ah, good old Belinda. She loves Molly so much it must be so difficult with stupid Dave for a husband.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 21:54

This is the bit that doesn't marry up with series 1 as we know it doesn't happen this way.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 21:56

I found this next bit confusing when I watched it last night. It's the letter from the grave stuff even though she's not dead. I kept thinking "She's not gone to Afghanistan yet" and then realised what it was all about.

At least it didn't make me cry like Elvis' letter did! (Still traumatised about that).

I think this confused quite a lot of people the first time round. I think we're hearing the letter that she's writing just in case and she has sent it to Corporal Geddings as she was asked to do when training. Looking at the box set starting to load for the next episode ....CJ time....I reckon it would definitely confuse people if they watched it straight afterwards.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 21:59

What did you think of that eejit?

eejittwo · 22/05/2018 22:08

Well, my first thought is that bit at the end with the death letter and all sets a precedent for Elvis not actually being dead Grin and it all being Georgie's overwrought imagination on opening the note with the engagement ring. (And yes, I know the obnoxious brat storyline, but Georgie, poor deluded fool, did want to rescue her as much as Maisie).
Apart from that, I enjoyed it on its own merits, and will have a look at the Series 1 episodes now. But I haven't seen anything yet to wean me off Elvis ...

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 22:10

The CJ in the first series is completely different to the CJ we see in series 2 and 3 eejit. Elvis may be your first love but I hope you might rate CJ a close second.

I suppose that the ending of the pilot was like that because at the time there was no idea that there might be series to follow. As you said earlier ilove it's easy to see how Molly would consider herself worlds apart from CJ in series 1. She has to go through the whole process of fitting in again when she joins two section. I also agree that CJ is a different kettle of fish in series 1 because there's much more focus upon him. In the later series it's really more about CJ the professional soldier, although at the end of the Nepal tour we're really wondering how well he's coping.

eejittwo · 23/05/2018 07:32

PS -"poor, deluded fool".
Isn't that what Elvis called Mollie, in the shower scene conversation with CJ in Kenya?

Ilovelblue · 23/05/2018 07:56

It is indeed eejit.

Just seen the first OG trailer after the 6pm news. Looks action packed.

Delphin · 24/05/2018 15:35

squeal! 5 June!
Sorry that I couldn't make it for the Tuesday evening ... Maybe I'll watch on my own and read your comments!

Polarbearflavour · 24/05/2018 20:13

I only watched season 3 and enjoyed it - I’m watching season 1 on iplayer Grin Roll on 5th June!

Ilovelblue · 24/05/2018 22:14

Hope you'll join us then polarbear? We have fallen into the habit of watching in radio silence on the day, then a brief after screening chat and a watchalong a couple of days later.

Delphin · 25/05/2018 22:39

Oh Polarbearflavour! Hook, line and sinker? Hehe! Don't miss the pilot film, though. The pilot and the first series with their focus on Molly's development are the best of the lot IMO.

Magi84 · 26/05/2018 05:58

My sentiments exactly Delphin.

Polarbearflavour · 26/05/2018 20:12

Yes, I would love to join you!

I’m watching it with DP who is a military officer so lots of sighing and rolling eyes from him Grin

Magi84 · 27/05/2018 05:20

I can imagine Polar. Apparently it is like that when doctors watch medical series on tv! You have to suspend reality and go with the flow. Good to have you with us on the thread. 👍

kazzaD66 · 29/05/2018 19:24

Evening all! I see the BBC are showing the remaining 8 eps in one go from next Tuesday, rather than the 4 and 4 that was originally mooted. Also note in their interviews that TG says Molly will be mentioned and BA says they are going through tough times ConfusedSad Hhmm - they better not split up!
