Evening everyone. Interesting news about OG. I've been in Berlin for the past five days on a short and very hot break. It was definitely beach weather with temperatures in the 30's every day, so not ideal in the middle of a city but nonetheless a very interesting few days. I was however, glad of the overcast skies and depressed temperatures today as a bit of a welcome relief - sorry I know it hasn't been great here and I will probably be moaning about it as well within a couple of days but for now it will nice to be able to sleep comfortably.
I read the thread while I was away so I've seen the interviews with the cast. I'm also hoping the difficult times for CJ and Molly are, as hinted, a result of CJ suffering PTSD and having doubts not deeper troubles. It might be difficult for them to cope with, particularly when they are apart so much. I am wondering if CJ will open up a bit to Georgie as they have shared grief over Elvis.
The editor of the RT has written a long, scathing piece about OG in next week's edition. She has had it in for this series right from day one. The short version is that she thinks it's only worthy of being on CBBC, MK looks too well-manicured, Two Section are total numbskulls and the script is dire. It's not the kind of review any writer would like to read but it's very tempting to write to the letters page and point out that the BBC has commissioned four series, thousands of people like it (and not all teenagers) and, strangely enough, it doesn't preclude you from enjoying other more highbrow TV drama of the kind she regularly raves about like 'Line of Duty' (she also goes on about how great Poldark is - which in my opinion is nothing to get overly excited about or praise). We all know this is not Shakespeare but it is what it is and we like it. No doubt we will have our own gripes but we do that from the point of view of fans rather than out and out critics.
OK, roll on next Tuesday, I will be there waiting at my TV screen like a faithful hound!
