Not much longer to wait out for the Nigeria episodes! Some of us are still mourning the death of Elvis.

Hello all - I'm up to date with the episodes now and been reading your watchalong musings. I did enjoy the last episode leaving aside the blood and gore - plenty of CJ and quite a different feel from all the others. I do agree with the apparent madness of Georgie staying back alone with CJ, not very credible.

I see we have had something deleted on here, I think for the first time. Which means some poor mumsnet mod must have been having to follow all of the madness on these threads over the last few years!

kazzaD66 · 25/06/2018 19:24

I think the deleted item was someone unknown advertising their business, which probably flouted some generic rule. Nowt to do with our high brow offerings Grin

Hello ladies, long, long time lurker finally breaking cover before tomorrow nights episode. Nervous and scared as to where this is heading Hmm

Rhubarb01 · 25/06/2018 22:01

Welcome Marvellous !

As you will no doubt realise, you are definitely in the right place. When I heard the voice over chap between the end of the football and start of Eastenders on BBC1 this evening, mutter something about CJ's confession changing everything tomorrow night on Our Girl, I felt myself start to bristle with a bit of indignation again. I really hope TG has done an excellent job of diverting us from something we haven't spotted. I don't want to feel annoyed or disappointed by what follows. Yes, Marvellous, you see you are definitely in the right place.

MarvellouslyMental · 25/06/2018 23:20

Thanks for the welcome Rhu
I know what you mean about the feeling of disappointment. Hopefully it’s some sort of diversionary tactic and that the “bond” is nothing more than a feeling of responsibility towards her because of his guilt and because they’ve shared a similar loss. Hoping what BA said before this series about Molly being the only person who knows about his PTSD symptoms being a huge part of this confession. Lots of possible scenarios - let’s just hope it’s not the most obvious one!!

Ilovelblue · 25/06/2018 23:41

Evening all!

I convinced myself at the start of this new series that if indeed there is to be a further series of OG, it will not have MK or BA in it. MK didn't like being away from home for such a long period of time and as for BA, I think his character has come to an end - pretty much what Rhu has said. I reckon it would concentrate on Rab and Maisie and either have a new medic in there or go more towards a woman on the front line, not necessarily with medical training. As for Bones, hmm, not sure what I think there. Will he be there as eye candy?

Interesting that he takes charge of Two Section in the next episode.

Flower I am sure the name of baybeeboutique or whatever she was called rings a bell. Never seen her (presume it's a her) on here before but she may have posted in the "trending now" discussions which I have to confess I am semi-addicted to (especially when conversations on here have been sparse).

Like the idea that MNHQ police our threads! Haha. Yes Always, I think it is a first.

Marvellous, welcome to the madness of our OG thread! I think those of us who have been here since the very first thread joined when we were waiting for the final episode of series 1. I thought I was so daring posting that very first time!

I might not be able to watch live tomorrow night as I have a friend coming round for tea on her way home from work. I'm just hoping she's gone by 9pm. She does know I am a fan (though not the obsession).

Still think I'm going to need to invest in wine -on a school night- to get through not screeching at the TV like a loon. Confused

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2018 15:02

I hope it's less painful than we think Bonnefoi and that TG is just toying with us....

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 26/06/2018 15:11

Ilove if you read certain tv guides, it is a whole lot more painful than we think Confused I can only hope they have got it wrong in some way, otherwise I will be shouting at the tv at the utter absurdity and downright sloppy writing of it all!!!Angry As usual, I will be recording it and watching back tomorrow, but will be unable to resist looking on here and twitter at 10.10pm tonight Wink
Welcome to the madhouse marvellous!

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2018 15:26

I hope TG hadn't taken the easy way out.... I'm holding on to the hope he's playing with our emotions in anticipation of tonight's episode.

OP posts:
Magi84 · 26/06/2018 15:37

I don't think tonight's episode is going to pacify us. I have a feeling we are going to have to wait to almost the end of the series to PERHAPS have the kind of explanations and sort out of feelings that we long for. His PTSD is I think going to be the answer to his going slightly off into the "feelings" mularkey. As you can see still clinging to the hope that TG will not completely destroy CJ's character in our eyes anyway.

Bonnefoi · 26/06/2018 15:55

Some googling around PTSD and the effect on Army families suggests where TG might be going with this, but if Molly as a character isn’t going to return due to to the career of the original actress (fair does to Lacey Turner a career is bigger than one character) I can’t see this ending well. Would make an amazing story arc if she was coming back though, but I don’t think that’s likely sadly.

Huge admiration to actual Army families that live that life style with the stresses and dangers. I can’t imagine I’d cope with it. Struggling with TV drama about it.Blush

But have strawberry wine at the ready. Wine

Magi84 · 26/06/2018 16:06

Yes Bonnefoi some of the stuff I've read has made it all sound difficult. I'm not too worried if we don't get Molly actually as I don't think that is at all likely because as you say LT made a decision re her career. However as I think this series is probably the last for BA as CJ it would be nice just to know that whatever he is going to be doing in civic life includes his wife i.e Molly.

Magi84 · 26/06/2018 16:07

That was supposed to say "civvy" life not civic!!

Delphin · 26/06/2018 18:13

I have been investigating VPN, but haven't found the solution for me yet :-). So I might lurk on the thread tonight, or maybe not.
It looks as if they are either going for the grand finale and send all major characters on their way, or they are building up Maisie to take the lead. With five episodes to go, it seems possible. I am not opposed to it :-).
I don't think Bones will take over as Section commander - maybe for a day, but why should he leave a position in the SAS he has worked more than hard for?

Delphin · 26/06/2018 19:02

... and I think Kingy is more than capable to keep them in line for a day or three! Grin

MarvellouslyMental · 26/06/2018 19:42

Evening, thanks for the welcome, ladies Smile - real life is not going to get me through tonight. I didn’t have the waiting in Series 1 Ilove as I was on holiday at the time so only watched Ep 4 on the Saturday night before Ep 5 on the Sunday. Think I’ll be holding my breath for the full hour tonight.

ToothyMcPuthy · 26/06/2018 21:36

Evening all! I’m a long time lurker! Watching tonight holding my breath and DM called during CJ’s speech to Georgie. Can someone please tell me what he said?

GandalfTheGoat · 26/06/2018 22:12

I haven't posted before but have lurked and watched OG from the beginning.

Didn't expect the ending tonight - excited for the next episode. Does anyone know if it's on next week or do we have to wait for months now?

I screamed at the tv when they showed fingers in the next one's preview Blush

eejittwo · 26/06/2018 22:13

Well! So Bones' punishment for disobeying orders is taking over 2 section!

Rhubarb01 · 26/06/2018 22:13

Hi Toothy

There were two or three little chats - one was about the fact CJ was falling apart and I think he said Molly wanted him to leave the army or possibly she wanted him to leave her - I didn't quite catch it, he also said something about being responsible for Elvis's death and thinking that in other circumstances maybe he and Georgie could have been together and that perhaps with her he could still manage to keep everything together. Basically, he's delirious and clearly suffering quite badly from PTSD/ guilt etc. I can't quite remember everything.

Rhubarb01 · 26/06/2018 22:20

Gandalf it's definitely on next week.

I'm actually quite conflicted about that episode for lots of reasons. I did 'get' the emotional bond between CJ and Georgie although I don't think it's romantic as such and certainly not on her part. It's just that they've suffered a lot together and are both grieving. CJ clearly is in a mess and that's understandable. I felt a lump in my throat when Georgie spoke about Elvis. I do think it was very tense and well acted and MK's good at that stuff.

I am however, totally fed up with Bones. His attitude totally stinks. How can anyone speak to a Brigadier like that and undermine him and also how on earth can he be put in charge of Two Section. Surely, that's just not possible. Plus he just has major anger management issues. Nice and awkward for Georgie having a CO who's asked you back to his room to share a bottle of whisky.

Also not keen on Georgie calling CJ 'Charlie', although that was what Elvis called him. Oh I miss Elvis!

eejittwo · 26/06/2018 22:25

So do I, Rhu, but at least I now watch it for the drama.

Loved Spanner's throwaway line about his beard! Smile

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2018 22:50

Hi there everyone (and welcome to Gandalf and Toothy. You broke cover at last.

I was a little behind you all as my friend didn't leave before OG started. I feel quite worn out with the stress of it all!

I too miss Elvis, but you know that Rhu and eejit. I miss him to the extent that I watched some of episode 3 of Nepal/Afghan tour this afternoon when it was far too hot to do anything else. God, he was hot!

Don't think Bones could ever replace Elvis.

Just been watching some of tonight's episode again and have realised why the Brigadier asked Bones who his regimental CO was. Normally, the SF would be seconded, wouldn't they, so does that mean the penny dropped that he was going to be back into normal duties as punishment for everything else? I mean, don't the SF have a certain kudos and are different to the normal platoons etc? A downgrade? I've no idea if this would normally happen in reality.

I can understand Georgie calling CJ Charlie, especially as it's hardly a normal situation they're in. I've said all along theirs is a strange relationship and certainly crosses the normal boss/subordinate roles.

Can someone explain the significance of Fingers in next week’s preview?
