We all know that the writers read MN after all. Apparently it’s on at 8.30pm this eve?

I thought it was a very disappointing end to a very protracted storyline. Too dramatic a setting with the lighthouse and the lashing rain and turbulent sea. Far better in Eileen's house or the cab office or some such. A more prosaic setting in contrast. The actors did what they could.

runningoutofjuice · 31/03/2018 09:14

Apart from a bit of smudged eye make-up, Eileen barely showed any emotion when she heard about Michael and Andy and when he went over the railings she hardly made a whimper! Maybe she was stunned or scared but did he manage to grab the pipework when falling backwards? Hope they don't find the body and query the marks on his hand. Agree that he'll probably pop up again in the future and it will be at the moment Eileen finds the new love of her life.
As an audience we deserved our day in court, along with his remaining victims watching him squirm and getting his comeuppance. THEN he could have somehow died a frightening death and we'd know he was never coming back.
Agree Tim's dad could be good

CaptainHammer · 31/03/2018 10:47

Just caught up with the last 3 episodes. Glad the storyline is over (for now) but what a let down. I am the darkness and the light?!

smeaton I reckon that’s exactly what’ll happen!

southeastdweller · 31/03/2018 11:11

Terrible writing last night in those episodes. My favourite part was Sally saying "Two bodies - I knew he was bad, but...". As if she'd just found out
Phelan had been done for shoplifting or something similar.

I didn't think Sue Cleaver was at her best in the second episode, but I guess there's not much you can do with crap dialogue.

lou1221 · 31/03/2018 11:28

Loving Tim's dad and Audrey, hopefully he'll be in it for a while.

Didn't like the setting for Phelan's demise, all too convenient that he will be swept out to sea.

Surely the police wouldn't let Eileen go back to the cottage. She's going to be in shock, I would have thought a police officer would stay, as she's not only a potential witness, but they don't know if she's actually involved.

Unless they find a battered body, he will definitely reappear at a time when Eileen is happy. Do you think Anna will now be released from prison?

HettySunshine · 31/03/2018 11:59

Thank goodness it's over but now we're going to have months of Eileen beating her chest and beating herself up. Could he not have just lost his grip?!

Hygge · 31/03/2018 12:08

Drum - "I think he will be back in BGT finals week when it’s on at 9 pm."

Pat Phelan? In BGT? Doing what act?

Some kind of illusionist disappearance? Chopping a body in half? Getting David Walliams to hold a gun under the pretext of it being part of a trick but really to get some fingerprints on it?

I know I've been complaining about getting sick of the storyline but I do think I'd watch that Grin

KellyBailey · 31/03/2018 12:39

Is Anna back in prison? Where is Faye now?

honeyroar · 31/03/2018 12:42

I was surprised the police let Eileen go back to the cottage as she'd been jumping up and down on Phelan's hand as they arrived. Surely they'd have noticed!

Is there going to be a mass opening of cell doors now? Will Anna be let out?

JustDanceAddict · 31/03/2018 13:05

Come on Eileen - pmsl - I missed that!
And how old is Simon supposed to be? I always thought he was same age as Amy, but they said Summer was 2 years younger than him - who is supposed to be in same school year as Amy (year 9 currently). Surely he isn’t in year 11 doing his GCSEs this summer?!?!

scrabbler3 · 31/03/2018 13:26

Faye lives with Tim's dad currently - the hospital radio DJ. Now that Phelan has gone she will return, presumably.

skippy67 · 31/03/2018 13:42

Phelan's not dead.

deadringer · 31/03/2018 14:09

Hopefully Anna killed someone in prison so won't be let out.

thenightsky · 31/03/2018 14:31

Anna won't get out I hope. She seriously assaulted Eileen by whacking her over the head and she was a fugitive from justice, kidnapping Fay along the way. That's quite a collection of charges.

blueskypink · 31/03/2018 15:08

Also disappointed. Have been waiting for what seems like years to see the smugness wiped off Eileen's face. I wanted her to be in the pub being all self-righteous with one of the dozens of people who have tried to tell her what Pat is like. And then the police walk in and arrest him for murder. This way everyone will feel sorry for her Hmm

Yorkshirebetty · 31/03/2018 15:29

I agree with blueskypink. Eileen is now the victim.

FineSally · 31/03/2018 16:01

agree with previous post about phelan's demise (real or not) being a total cop-out. So lazy on the part of the story editors/scriptwriters. So disappointed.

But - given the totally improbable plots they manage to dream up - Eileen could be done for murder. What she said could be construed as a confession. Then Phelan turns up again and goes after Seb/Gary & then turns on the rest of the street till they are all wiped out in a staged gas explosion and we no longer have to suffer any more of this inanity.

Hygge · 31/03/2018 16:12

I think she'd finished jumping on his hand by the time the police arrived, she was just standing by the edge gazing off into the sea.

I was hoping for blueskypink's description to happen. A big public arrest in front of everyone, with Alya shouting "You shot Luke!" and Gail clawing at her polo neck at the thought of Michael dying while Pat watched, and Phelan being dragged out kicking and screaming about how he'll be back, and then Gail blaming Eileen and perhaps them having a fight because they haven't had one for ages.

IronicWittyUsername · 31/03/2018 16:26

Liz has said come on Eileen a few times too

Yorkshirebetty · 31/03/2018 16:28

Hygge - you really ought to write the scripts! A much better outcome!

I was very disappointed at last nights episodes too. All that hype and build up and then to do it this way, felt a bit of a cop out!
Would have loved to have seen phelan in court and watch him try and talk his way out of it!

No way would eileen get to go back to the cottage, not only should she be in shock, the police don't know what she knows yet, plus the fact they only have her word for it that pats in the water!
Also, how far away is Manchester to Whitehaven? The Corrie rescue squad arrived pretty quick! 😂

Akire · 31/03/2018 20:28

Well that was some week!! Loved the tension of would Pat bump her off, did he really love her question.
Why does she think
He dead? She has no idea if just water or if he landed on rocks. They have never been there. He could have fallen in and got straight out on a rock at the bottom.

I was totally confused over Fay being at tim dads. Yet she comes into kitchen and says oh hello grandad?! Didn’t her bring her on visit? Or did she go there from another grandparents house?

Was sweet of street to worry about her. Let’s see if cops can tie it all up on actual evidence.

Agree Eva is massive. The other day she was doing full on pregnant lady pose, hands on back stomach out, and nobody made a comment!!

Didn’t get why 3 women were in picture and owners sister baby. But not the actual landlords child or landlord.

CumbrianExile · 31/03/2018 21:17

Haven't seen it yet, but to answer the previous question, Manchester to Whitehaven is a good 2.5 hours if you get a good run and don't get stuck behind a tractor on the A66!

supersop60 · 31/03/2018 21:49

It could be local police.
