Tonight's script was like something from a New Writers' Competition at a local amateur dramatic society - except the local group's would have been so much better.

I was also very confused with what Eva and Toyah were doing with the birth certificate, but from what they said I think they registered the birth legally with Eva as the mother (Toyah said something about they hadn't done anything wrong as that registration was correct and legal) and then printed a blank fake birth certificate off the internet and filled it in with the details as Peter would expect them to be to show him. I may be wrong though, as I think they did say something months ago about pretending Eva was Toyah when giving birth? Toyah also mentioned sorting out a private fostering arrangement I think.

Such strange episodes. Ditch the "issues", focus on characters, good scripts and interesting (not crazy) storylines.

Eva should havepretend to be Jackie to get the right name on the birth. Then adopt.

I’ve been banging on for ages on this thread and previous threads to get Sally a new kitchen, but there was no mention of it at all! It appeared from nowhere, Sally’s character would have held a kitchen warming party to show off to the neighbors and they would have to sit there while Sally basked in the glory, yet not one of her guests tonight even mentioned the whole house had been transformed! In fact it was a wasted opportunity from the Corrie script writers, it could have provided some much needed old fashioned Corrie humour which is sadly lacking theses days.

So does Peter think he's the baby's biological dad? Hopelessly confused by the whole thing.

It is unforgivable. Just seen part2 this morning and I think as someone up thread said- they have been honest about Eva giving birth and registering the baby but Toyah is faking up a birth certificate naming her and Peter as parents to show Peter but Toyah will keep the real certificate and use that as needed (officially) and get some paper work for a private "fostering" arrangement.
VanGogh you are right, Peter would not be on the certificate he would have to apply for a re registration since he wasn't at the registry office. Surely the man would have read up on it and insisted on coming to register the birth.

I also feel sorry for Simon -Shocking behaviour from Peter. and as for Toyah, not a bit of compassion or help for Eva (you have a baby in traumatic circumstances but fine the next day to go down the register office etc and in no real pain, just a vessel?). Wouldn't the HV visit for the next few days and would no one question why a baby had gone missing ? Also, we had to make appointments at the register office - no just turning up to register births and there were still long waits.

The baby storyline is just insulting to the viewers.

Animals agree - also Toyah and Peter have only been together 5 minutes and the entire time Toyah has been obsessed with getting a baby. Eva doesn't even know Toyah well. Peter is also a bigamist and a serial cheater (and wasn't he a suspect when Toyah was raped years ago) and caused such misery for Leanne.

I dislike how they have changed Jude and Angie's backstory. This is from a Radio Times interview with Angie after she started on Corrie.
"Angie met Jude at university and they moved out to South Africa to start a new life together. But now Jude has met his mum, which is a big thing for him and something he’s really happy about. However, for Angie, moving to Weatherfield isn’t what she expected or wanted to happen.”

Angie also originally had close relatives in a nearby town/city. Now the story is that they presumably met in SA(given the timescale) 2 years ago and she got pregnant with George on their 3rd date and has nowhere else to go.

He was a suspect but then helped catch the real rapist so went from suspect to hero.

I'm still not watching and only following updates on here. I planned to resume once the Phelan story ended but that nonsense has been superseded by this ridiculous plot. So Peter did not want to even speak to or see the 'surrogate' and say thanks etc but just accepted Toyah pitching up in the pub with a baby? Insulting to viewers indeed.

Whole thing sounds like a confusing Take A Break or Daily Mail headline "Fell in love with my ex-wife's sister..heartbroken when she passed her (other) sister's baby off as mine"

He did ask to speak to the surrogate but royal said she was still in the ward.

Glad to see the Corrie NHS keeping up their high standards with Eva having a private room and not waiting around most of the day for a doctor to check over the baby and discharge.

What they going to do about midwife and health visitors? Midwife might be tad Suspious baby is not there. Better if they held off for least a week then she could just “move away”.

Eva had her photo taken with the baby. She seems very uncomfortable with the whole situation, and there is no sense of relief from her that it will all soon be over.

As for the fact that Peter has been happy to sit at home while a baby he believes is his has just been born is just ridiculous. Even the most laid back new Dad in the world would be straight down to Tamworth to see his new daughter.
