Yes. I wonder what the producers told them they wanted to show. Whatever it was, they all come over as throwbacks and a bit silly and self deluded.

LadyTophamHatt · 07/05/2007 22:30

aybe they pool all their ideas together to annoy people.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:31

What. Is. A. Fruit. Pizza? Did she make it up to make her husband sound odd?

ChaCha · 07/05/2007 22:31

I do almost EVERYTHING for my DH but i'm not a 'surrendered wife'. I enjoy running my home in the way that I do. I would never allow my DH to tell me what to wear or dictate certain things to me although if he has a super busy day and things need doing outside i have no problem going to the bank for him etc. to make his day easier. The woman with the list of chores to do - sorry but that was sick. Surely it is the woman's choice on how she runs her home?

AitchTwoOh · 07/05/2007 22:32

it looked Really Nice actually. like a Ma-hoosive danish pastry.

ChaCha · 07/05/2007 22:32

OMG, yes, poor child, always doing a chore with mummy, awful!

JackieNo · 07/05/2007 22:33

NKF - Fruit Pizza

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:33

Interesting the men chose such tame clothes for their wives. Presumably that's the Christian backgrounds. Don't most women worry that if their husband picked their outfits they'd end up in fluffy bras and mules?

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:34

Okay. Got it. Kind of like a pavlova but pastry.

Nikki76 · 07/05/2007 22:34

I didn't like seeing the little one squirting the cleaner over the sink -fumes!! Mind you, it may have been an ethical vinegar and whatever it is that shines sinks mix but....!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 07/05/2007 22:34

Oh I missed this. Was there an English woman on - Pepita? I used to go to school with her and could never imagine her surrendering to anything!

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:35

The chats are so staged it's untrue.

pinkspottywellies · 07/05/2007 22:35

SueBaroo - do you know her or are you speculating from what you've seen?

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:36

bloody hell, I don't even believe the religious shit myself, but I'm finding myself compelled to defend my friend, because honestly, she was really badly represented. Yep, Daddy is the King of the home. But you know what, Crystal is the Queen. It's like calling Kathryn their little princess. Context and all that.

the list thing was rubbish too. Crystal runs a business, so, being organized, she has a frigging list at the start of the day. She just asks Jesse if there's anything she's not thought of that day, it's not wierd at all.

It's like writing a shopping list and your dh remembering you need toothpaste.

Nikki76 · 07/05/2007 22:37

She runs a business? They didn't even mention that, which would have put a totally different complex on the whole surrendered wife thing! Amazing what details they do leave out!

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:37

What was it in for them SueBaroo. Did they think the programme would allow them to talk about their faith?

zakismum · 07/05/2007 22:37

Saggar - Yes, she said she used to be married to a dominant husband for 17 yrs but now she is married again & she does everything for him ( even washes his back when he's in the bath).

BTW, where is the name Pepita from?

pinkspottywellies · 07/05/2007 22:38

ah x posted!

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:38

MKF, yeah, pretty much. She realized a few weeks ago when she got the blurb about the programme that it wasn't going to be what she expected, but it was way too late for anything then.

ChaCha · 07/05/2007 22:38

SueBaroo - Portrayed in a totally different light then. I have a list that i go through with DH when the 'outstanding' and the 'urgent' are piling up - nothing wrong with that at all, but didn't he tell her to do the ironing or something?

AitchTwoOh · 07/05/2007 22:39

hhhmmm, truthfully now she didn't seem like she was the queen of anything much. am that she runs a business. that wasn't on her list...

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:40

He - Crystal's husband - does talk about "authority" though and seems totally confident that he will always make the right decisions.

Running your own business is evidence of only a certain type of independence. You could still be meek in your relationship.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:42

But it's on Channel 5 and it's not CSI Miami so I can assume, without analysing it, that the programme is a load of rubbish.

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:43

Is the ironing never on your to do list? It's on mine every bloody day (Still doesn't get done, though, lol)

She so is the Queen, he treats her like she's made of glass, he's a real love. the surrendered wife thing isn't what they do, they try and follow the 'biblical' idea of wife being a home support to husband and husband serving wife. Honestly, she's near the end of a really rough pregnancy, and he aboslutely cherishes her. And yep, she does run a business as well as run a home and deal with almost constant pregnancy niggles. she's a flippin' star.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:43

I shall go to bed with a book and thank my lucky stars I'm not married to Eddie.
