I can get you the recipe. Crystal is very honest about her culinary adventures, lol.

oo..sorry, not sure what happened there.

slayerette · 07/05/2007 22:12

Told DH I was going to become a surrendered wife and he said 'please don't because it would freak me out'

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:12

I was highly amused that Eddie thought that British woman "had lost their way" in forgetting how to take care of a man. Hey Eddie! We didn't lose our way. We decided we wanted to go somewhere else.

Beauregard · 07/05/2007 22:14

I'm now wattching super size she on five life.
I wonder what Eddie would make of her

i only saw the alst 5 mintues, acn someone tell me was a Surrendered wife is??

ravenAK · 07/05/2007 22:15

Actually Waswondering, if you read Richard Dawkins on the Big Three monotheistic religions, they do say strikingly similar things re: women's role...or at least their more patently inadequate supporters do.

AitchTwoOh · 07/05/2007 22:17

what was all that with her daughter, sue? v weird, you'd have to admit. daddy's the king of the home... really?

slayerette · 07/05/2007 22:17

A wife who is totally submissive to her husband in every way - does all the housework, agrees with everything he says, sex on demand...you get the idea. If you're interested, some woman somewhere offers training in how to be one don't all rush at once, ladies; form an orderly queue

JackieNo · 07/05/2007 22:18

Predictably, there's a website .

ravenAK · 07/05/2007 22:19

Does she take surrendered husbands though? As dh could do with a refresher course...

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:19

Ah yes. I remember the surrendered wife stories from a few years back.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:22

Dear old Laura Doyle. Whose hair never moved. Not even in the strongest wind.
More trivial observations. Is it just me but I can't take it seriously.

I suppose the Texan one should be the most alarming as presumably the number of patriarchical marriages msut be quite high. But surely there are thousands of runaway wives and daughters getting the hell out.

Funny Eddie doesn't seem to think money might come into it somehow.

JackieNo · 07/05/2007 22:22

And here's the Daily Mail on Karen and Ali .

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:22

Aitch, it was just getting her daughter involved in looking after the house. Do the same with my five year old in the hope that when she's 15 she'll still do the washing up, lol.

Crystal certainly does respect her husband and wants her kids to respect him too, but she doesn't not talk to him about her own dreams and things, and the whole sex on demand thing would embarrass her hugely - and I'd like to point out that that bit wasn't her. She is very religious, and their beliefs about marriage stem from that, but it most certainly ^isn't& the surrendered wife thing. Crystal has a say in what goes on in their marriage, same as any other normal married couple.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:23

Which one's Crystal?

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:24

the lady from Kansas, with the little girl. She's expecting another pretty soon, actually.

NKF · 07/05/2007 22:25

Okay. Thanks. The very quiet and subdued one.

ChaCha · 07/05/2007 22:25

Ooooh, am i too late to take part in discussion?

LadyTophamHatt · 07/05/2007 22:27

erm....does anyone else think that photo of the surrendered wfie teacher on the website looks just like the SWMNBN photo....

how wierd.

JackieNo · 07/05/2007 22:28

Ooh - you're right, LTH - how spooky.

SueBaroo · 07/05/2007 22:28

Yeah, she's gonna be even more quiet after this. I'm so sorry for her. Those old geezer's were awful. the thing about her hair was the most telling example of the editing, tbh. She was explaining that even though she thinks it's a waste of money, Jesse treats her to a nice haircut. came across totally different.

AitchTwoOh · 07/05/2007 22:30

'we are making a fruit pizza to please daddy, he's the king of the house...'
honestly that was creepy. what about 'we are going to stop cleaning and cooking for a second and go out and do something stimulating so that by the time you're 18 you'll be at university and not stuck in a house sweeping up after some man'. such paucity of ambition... and how is she going to handle a boy child? no cleaning for him, i presume?
