Hi Magi. I think the date for the new series has been revealed now according to a couple of different websites and will be w/c 4/6. If it's like last time, it looks as if it will be on a Tuesday. I think I may have also picked up somewhere along the line that they might show all the remaining episodes together.

Who's watching the royal wedding tomorrow? I see Meghan is spending tonight at Cliveden. My only claim to fame is that I once had afternoon tea there.

Oh good Ilove. As you say it looks likely to be Tuesday as The Split finishes on May 29th so leaves that slot free.

I will be watching the wedding. I like Harry and I also hope he will wear his dress uniform which of course will remind us of CJ in series 2. There you go most people will be on about the bride's dress and here's me anticipating the groom in uniformBlush

Yay! So I can watch without shelling out - and then decide whether I want it as a keeper.
Next Tuesday, 8.30 pm?

Delphin · 18/05/2018 22:01

Just some photos from my trip to London last weekend. A girl's gotta know her priorities: Yep, No.1's photo needed taking**, and yep, No. 2's the royal barge "Gloriana" they were preparing everywhere for the event, the stables of the Horseguards were closed to the public > the girls made faces. But they've ordered me to record the event on my online service so they can watch it (I set the recording for the live event as well as for the executive summary in the evening!).

8.30 on Tuesday seems feasible (although my niece has a very late streak as of late ... - 8.30 is 9.30 pm over here). I'll join you when I'm ready.

BTW, ilove, I see a series of Inspector Montalbano is starting tonight on BBC4 at 9pm. You may find it worth a glance after your Sicilian jaunt.

Ilovelblue · 21/05/2018 23:52

Thanks eejit. I didn't read this until part way through the programme but also noticed that the programme after it was about Sicily so I've recorded them both.

I forced myself to sit down and watch the OG pilot tonight and can honestly say I had forgotten 99% of it. It's a good job I did a watch through before we do the proper watchalong on Tuesday night. I'd also forgotten just how nice Corporal Geddings was!

What did everyone think of the Royal Wedding? I have to admit I cried once or twice, it was lovely! I really enjoyed watching all the guests' outfits. I think there have been a few discussions on MN about them.

See you tomorrow at 8.30 pm.

OMG I am just watching the pilot again. I 💗 this programme!

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 18:34

Evening! I will be with you at 8.30 tonight. I still haven't watched it so I only remember bits of it. Looking forward to seeing Molly blossom and transform her life. It struck me that the transition she makes in the pilot is similar to the transition she makes in series 1. By the end of each we see a different woman emerge.I think we're going to need a new thread as we're on more than 950 at the moment. We will certainly be needing one soon, it seems, if OG is returning in a couple of weeks. It would be good to see some trailers though.

I enjoyed the Royal Wedding on Saturday. I thought the build up stuff might be tedious but it added to the occasion. I liked seeing the guests arriving in all those gorgeous outfits and it was so nice to see them standing around chatting so informally inside the chapel beforehand. I felt a bit sorry for Meghan's mother. As much as she was clearly, tremendously proud, she did seem overwhelmed by it all and as if she was fighting back tears. To be the only member of the bride's family present is quite tough. It's a good job she had lots of her friends there. I thought the preacher was hilarious and the expressions on some of the royal family's faces was a picture. I could see them fighting the laughter but bless her majesty for maintaining her composure. You don't spend 66 years on the throne without training yourself to behave with dignity at all times. Mind you, I bet she and Prince Phillip had a chuckle about it later. I loved all the little bridesmaids and pages - the gap-toothed gasp from that little lad holding the train as they entered and the organ started was a picture. All in all I thought it was a really nice event and done very well.

Ok enough for now - will be back in a couple of hours.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:08

I've set up the new thread for us as we are definitely going to need it tonight!

I've had a busy time over the past few days. My friend's cat was involved in a serious accident two days before she was due to go on holiday. Thankfully she has asked the vet to look after her until she comes home - it would have been a massive responsibility to look after a cat which has undergone surgery which is not my own. I've also been putting in extra hours at the disabled centre where I volunteer as I have been creating a new garden and it's been harder work than I envisaged. On top of that, my elderly neighbour is starting to drive me mad as if I'm in the garden and he hears me, I then can't shake him off!

Rhu I concur with almost everything you said about the wedding but that American bishop did not float my boat unfortunately. Somebody should have turned his "off switch". I thought it was funny when the camera panned around the congregation and Elton John was pulling a face and David Beckham was trying not to laugh.

Yay! All ready to go. Remember I’ve not seen it before,so I might be a bit slow on the uptake.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:28

I'm ready too. I'm glad I watched it last night as I remembered so little of it. In fact, I think I've only seen it once before. I didn't see the pilot when it was televised and had to buy the DVD which I subsequently gave away!

Well I'm rusty eejit so I might get caught up in just watching. I do, however, recommend Corporal Geddings as the eye candy for this. Not quite CJ but still nice in his own way.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:30

Pressing start and hoping iplayer won't take too long to kick in.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:30

Oh yes, I second that. I had definitely forgotten about him!

And so we see Molly's world and lots of news references to the war in Afghanistan. Here's Molly's home.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:32

Molly's birthday. Don't like the dyed blond hair. Dave is as charming as ever.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:32

...Like I love you....CJ!

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:32

Dave Dawes was an almost comedic figure in series 1 and I had forgotten that he's not a nice character at all in the pilot.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:33

Molly looks so different with blonde hair.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:33

Molly gained a different sister in this version and somewhat older and more worldly wise.

We are shown the cultural diversity of the area.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:34

News in the background showing the army in Afghanistan.

Rhubarb01 · 22/05/2018 20:36

Here comes Dave on the scrounge.

Ilovelblue · 22/05/2018 20:36

Molly's job as a nail technician.

Oh here comes Dave, wanting some cash. It looks as if he's done it before too.
