Do we have/want a thread? I'm super excited, love the Winter Olympics, it's one of those things I end up obsessed with and staying up half the night!

Anybody else?

DS2 has decided that the curling is the most boring thing imaginable (not that I blame him).

He hates the figure skating too (apparently it’s ‘just dancing’).

He loved the biathlon though. And was so excited about the men’s half-pipe that he told me his heart was beating like it does while he’s waiting to start a swimming race. Smile

The red button also offered a lot more choice during the summer olympics, now it just seems to be on a loop.

GetTaeBed · 16/02/2018 03:40

Still not managed to find the ice skating...The summer Olympics was so much better- I've probably watched 10% of what I want to because i just can't bloody find it!

SuperBeagle · 16/02/2018 04:01

The time zone has been fantastic for us in Australia. There's only a 2 hour time difference, so we've been able to see just about everything live at a respectable time. It's not normally like this. Grin

I have to admit, the skating is my least favourite thing. I find it dull and cringey.

Aerials is the best to watch. Womens final tonight.

IhaveChillyToes · 16/02/2018 04:28

I was so frustrated with iplayer yesterday trying to watch the men's snowboard cross AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

In the end saw it on red button replay at 9pm

So today decided I was going to watch the women live thru the night SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Also, watched the tea tray racing - super exciting but completely bonkers, sliding down ice head first, won't give result away though SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Yesterday they just kept showing curling on BBC and iplayer and red button for hours and hours AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

The red button thingy on iplayer was not behaving properly yesterday AngryAngryAngryAngry

Much happier watching it live on BBC and 601 SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Livelounge · 16/02/2018 21:48

@gettaebed - download Olympics today on BBC 4.

ToffeeUp · 17/02/2018 12:12

It's just not happening for Elise Christie. I feel sorry for her but wished the bbc stopped going on about it.

It's looking good for Yarnold and Deas and well done to Izzy Atkins.

eddiemairswife · 17/02/2018 13:00

And the curling goes on and on and on and............

UnimaginativeUsername · 17/02/2018 13:08

The curling is exceptionally dull.

We only watch on demand stuff anyway (no tv license, so all in Eurosport player). It means we can fast forward through the boring bits where they spend ages talking about how brilliant team GB are (there was a lot of this before the men’s skeleton final).

iklboo · 17/02/2018 13:08

Any idea when the figure skating is on today?

UnimaginativeUsername · 17/02/2018 13:13

No idea. DS2 won’t watch the figure skating (it’s ‘just dancing’ apparently). And I’m not fussed about watching it on my own.

ToffeeUp · 17/02/2018 13:16

The curling commentary is not much better, especially when they start criticising clothes, unzipped jacket and rolled up sleeves is a no no

Skeleton final now

UnimaginativeUsername · 17/02/2018 13:20

Sartorial critique is what they have to resort to when there’s so little else to say because the whole thing is so dull.

It’s like the golf commentators having a chat about the birds in the trees or whatever. But the curling is inside an ice rink, so there’s nothing for the commentators to fill the silence with.

The Eurosport commentators refer to the USA snowboarding outfit as a space suit, which amuses me.

ToffeeUp · 17/02/2018 13:25

Wow, Lizzie Yarnold what a run! And bronze for Laura Deas!

iklboo · 17/02/2018 13:30

Well done Lizzie & Laura 🇬🇧🥇🥉

eddiemairswife · 18/02/2018 13:10

Still curling on both BBC1 and the red button. What is more...it is the same match.

ToffeeUp · 18/02/2018 15:43

I watched the bobsleigh and speedskating on red button, managed to miss the curling except for the hogline controversy Grin

GreatWesternValkyrie · 20/02/2018 22:40

Watching (recorded) the women’s ski half pipe, I’ve not seen this before and am loving it!

What I am not loving though is the Eurosport commentators referring to every competitor under 29 as a girl and anyone over 29 seems to need her ‘33 year old mother of x number’ status announced on every run. I’m yet to hear how many children male commentators have fathered Hmm

And that’s without the multiple comments about loving a pink top a ‘girl’ is wearing. They’re doing back to back 540s and 900s and even a 1080 on skis, in a half pipe FFS!!

Can you tell I’m a little irritated Grin

GreatWesternValkyrie · 20/02/2018 22:43

Competitors, not commentators…too irritated to type straight!
