Maybe Michelle Visage was in the wrong CBB series and Carole Malone, women like that.

To be fair it's always going to be a trade off between who viewers would love to see and who'd actually agree to do it. That's a given for this kind of programme. Above all we have to remember that it's produced now by Channel 5, so it's never going to be put together how people on this thread would like to see. I'm just grateful that it wasn't a series of unknown Irish 'models' glamour models playing to type and so on and that's before you take the edit into account to persuade us who to like. India was the damp squib of this series for so many reasons - if you were a Channel 5 booker.

The betting syndicates don't wait until the programme odds are announced, they're not that amateur and they don't physically pick up the phone and dial in the vote. It's huge business and not that easy to explain.

Will anyone from this series benefit long term? I'd like to see more of Maggie on talk/panel shows. Not sure about anyone else, excepting Shane L who has a different career and Ann who probably just shrugs at it all.

MrsJayy · 04/02/2018 19:53

I would love to see Maggie on things i remember Lesley sharp playing her in the drama 3 girls and she was the gobby cop she was so quiet in BB and not how I thought she would be.

berryferry · 04/02/2018 20:12

It must've been bloody weird for Maggie being in that house with extroverted celebrities surrounding her, also it sounds like they couldn't (or wouldn't) broadcast her talking about the Rotherham case so I wonder why they booked her at all.

Can someone explain why Shane j wanting to be a role model for young boys is creepy?

picklemepopcorn · 04/02/2018 20:34

It's not him wanting to be a role model. It's more him talking about it all the time. He refers to his inner 15 yr old boy such a lot. If he spoke about 'confused young people', it would be less creepy. I don't think anyone is suggesting any misbehaviour on his part, but it sounds as though the confused 15 yr old boy is still pulling the strings.

I'm not convinced he's a great role model for young gay boys, anyway.

berryferry · 04/02/2018 20:51

I still don't understand why it's "creepy", it's an interesting word to use.

He obviously found life difficult as a closeted gay teenager, what would be the point of saying "young people"? He's talking about a specific experience.

I'm not sure he's a great role model either but I certainly don't find him talking about having a tough time as a teenager "creepy as hell".

picklemepopcorn · 04/02/2018 21:13

I noticed it, the phrasing was a bit odd. It may be a regional thing. To me it sounds creepy to be constantly referring to a fifteen year old boy. It's probably because he repeats that speech so often. Mother people would say 'when I was a teen' or 'before I came out' etc. It's the constant repetition, probably because he retells is so often. But it comes across as false. And creepy.

picklemepopcorn · 04/02/2018 21:13

Other people. Not mother people. Mother people wouldn't know what it was like to be a 15 yr old boy.

sheldonesque · 04/02/2018 21:36

My heart aches for the tortured 15 year old inside Shane J. But that15 year old is turning the man on the outside bitter and nasty.

Sad though that is, turning his admittedly very restrained vitriol on Ann was unpleasant to watch and encouraging his little henchmonkeys to do it too was so calculated.

I'm not sure blaming Ann for his inner unhappiness was fair. He needs to address the people who made him carry that pain with him all these years. It wasn't Ann.

So Shanej isn't a good role model, no.

ShaneL though? I think that man could teach us all about how to be and how to accept people. His family must be bursting with pride and rightly so.

Does anyone know if Shane J is on any of the chat shows, Lorraine, This Morning etc this week?

MrsJayy · 05/02/2018 09:06

He might be on Wright stuff this morning check Courtney Acts twitter he might say where he is

borderline11 · 05/02/2018 09:18

A hell of a lot of people have a "tough time" as a teenager, for loads of different reasons. Very self indulgent to hang on to it and keep burdening others about it imo.

badabing36 · 05/02/2018 11:21

Agreed he’s 35/6 get over it.

This. ^^ is why.

berryferry · 05/02/2018 13:08

Nope still don't get what's "creepy" about it, boring? Maybe. But the word creepy has very specific connotations.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 05/02/2018 13:48

Yes creepy and misogynistic are not words I would use to describe Shane J. Why is referring to yourself at 15 creepy? Is this no longer allowed?

badabing36 · 05/02/2018 14:47

I don’t think it’s creepy either, btw.

MrsJayy · 05/02/2018 17:33

Well, my posts were meant to be clear and simple on how betting 'fixes' are very hard to do.

I worked in gambling for many years, so I'd be all ears on the complicated version of how they achieve it on CBB
