I loved Ann being a sat nav last night, thought her directions and encouragement were fab SmileSmileSmileSmile

I like Ann cos she knows what she thinks and believes and why. Don't agree with all that she says though apart from wanting to go to sleep at nighttime

I think the others don't like her POV cos it is sort of like their conscience

The young people are just sort of pretending to believe whatever they think will make them be popular in and out of the house

I think Rachel and Malika are backstabbers. We don't know what Maggie is like in the house cos she is never shown cos editors think we just want to watch fakemance or ladz bantz.

I have changed my mind about Shane/Courtney. Used to like him/her BUT he/she are really showing themselves to be 2 faced going round the house stirring up trouble and bitching about Ann. When she never said the stuff he said she did

She says she doesn't care what they do as long as she doesn't have to stay up to watch or listen to them. I would be the same.

I don't mind loving couples kissing etc in public,

I would absolutely hate to be in a bedroom with a couple slurping next to me, think it is very disrespectful and rude to do that in a shared bedroom,

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 12:43

I always remember the van game they had in the Kate Lawlor year. Just made up to pass the time when there was no BB interference. They had so much fun and it was funny to watch them interact.

I have said this many times on these threads over the years, but I think the best thing BB could do is just disappear for a couple of days. No one in the Diary Room, no announcements to the house, just leave them wondering what the hell has happened.

Agree MrsJayy. It is painful that differences of opinion are seen as an outrage.

What's frustrating for the younger HMs is that they can't realisitcally tackle Ann about her disapproval.

They're all savvy enough to know that taking on (as the dumb public see her) a poor little grey-haired, sweet old biddy is reality TV suicide.

If they so much as roll their eyes at her it's perceived as the real-life equivalent of kicking a pensioner off a bus.

So they have to obey the reality TV code of silence and putting-up to stay in the show - and it's killing them - as it would anyone in real-life because of course, Ann is not a sweet old biddy.

MrsJayy · 19/01/2018 12:48

Oh and yes Shane j is a little stirrer I dunno if it is like that or has just gone a bit stir crazy but he isn't being shown as the kind considerade shane/courtney that went in. Bless Shane l talking in the diary room accepting his middle age and going to his bed at a reasonable time Grin

IhaveChillyToes · 19/01/2018 12:50

Let's say for arguments sake that Ann and Amanda and JB want to go bed at 10.30 and that the ladz bantz carried on until 1am/2am like the other nights live feed

That leaves at least 3 or 4 hours that Ann and others are in bed

Leaving the rest of the house to do what they want without her around or stopping them???

So what do the ladz bantz consist of, I don't know cos I fell asleep cos it was boring

MrsJayy · 19/01/2018 12:50

Ann doesn't see herself as an old biddy though Ann is self aware and knows what she is like.

MimpiDreams · 19/01/2018 12:52

I think someone has mentioned it before but I think Ann is autistic. I say that because Ann is just like me, give or take 30 years. We're like clones in attitude, in expressions, the way we speak etc. I even see her put her hands over her ears when it's too noisy like I do. We have very different opinions but the rigid way we hold onto them is exactly the same. And then some of the housemates were bitching because she doesn't like physical contact and I was like 'Yeeeesssssss, finally someone who agrees with me'.

PandasRock · 19/01/2018 12:59

I don't think it would be career shicide if anyone took Ann on in proper reasoned debate.

I would hope that comments like Dapper was making about her last night were career suicide, but sadly, society seems more inclined to laugh along with him than recoil with the horror they should be feeling.

Ann would welcome debate and discussion, from what I have seen of her. She happily discussed with Shane J, and both managed to remain calm and reasonable, despite holding irreconcilable views. No low blows, no personal insults. And no one vilified either for their views - instead the interesting topic was welcomed, and comment was made on how refreshing to see adult reasoned discussion, rather than constant tits and arse in the hot tub.

Ann is the least likely to play the ' sweet grey haired pensioner" card. She hates any kind of concession being given, and always wants to be treated as an equal - full equality.

Shane L and John Barnes aren't being ridiculed by the ladz (in the edit at least) for wanting to go to bed early. Just Ann. Why is that?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 13:02

You can have a moral code and not disapprove of others. I have never seen Ann tell the others that she disapproves, quite the contrary. I have seen other people like Rachel tell people Ann disapproves, but this is done for Rachel's own purposes rather than being a statement of fact.

In reality I think Rachel disapproves but rather than showing herself to be a "prude" she hides behind saying "Ann disapproves" thereby getting her own opinion across without fear of personal censure and also planting the seed in people's minds that Ann is the baddy.

SleepIsForTheWeek · 19/01/2018 13:05

Can someone tell me what Dapper said about Ann last night? I missed it.

PandasRock · 19/01/2018 13:16

That is true, Anne.

Same as when Shane J was trying to mix with with Ashley, and Ashley just brought it up straight with Ann, which rather showed Shane J up.

From what has been shown, Ann is not the one censoring the house. People are suing the excuse of Ann to either self-censor (a bit like my pre-teen uses me as a shield when not wanting to speak out against her peer group - ‘my mum wouldn’t like me to’, which gives her some space to work out her own reasoning rather than just following along with something she is uncomfortable with) or to try to censor others ‘ooh, you’ll have Ann after you if you do that’ which (again, from what has been shown) simply isn’t the case.

She didn’t want to stop Andrew getting a bumcrack wax, she just didn’t want to be used in his pathetic immature little game.

She didn’t rise when Ashley purposely asked her how she looked in a short dress, and she didn’t tell her to cover up.

She has been shown to let her hair down - Ashley has done her make up before, Malika did her hair - things probably out of Ann’s comfort zone as she doesn’t really do the ‘girly chat and bond over grooming’ thing, but she did it anyway.

futuristic1 · 19/01/2018 13:21

Ann makes her disapproval absolutely clear - I don't know how anybody watching could miss it! It's entirely clear to the HMs.

The idea of a reasoned debate with an 'intellectual' like Ann is interesting but my impression is that she terminates unappealing subjects with terse interjections or blunt - not talking about that - final statements.

It's immensely difficult as all her responses and views are dictated by her Catholicism - there's no room for her thoughts or opinions (if she has any) - issues are right or wrong - clear-cut and definite. There's no debate.

She's never going to say that she wishes Courtney could find a loving relationship because homosexuality is a sin - fact!

She won't wish Wayne a happy future marriage because she disagrees with gay marriage - fact.

I'd love to see someone manage to get her to talk emotionally but she's spent a lifetime dodging it - she won't crack now.

futuristic1 · 19/01/2018 13:24

Ashley and Jess are both playing the 'sweet girls' card.

Sucking up to Ann in the hope they get some of the old biddy/granny vote. "my granddaughter's a glamour model and she's the sweetest thing, never even kissed a man.' yawn yawn - but it seems to work year in, year out.

Ashley consciously appeared andundermined Shane's discussion with Ann because she was petrified she'd suffer in the public perception as part of the biddy-bashing brigade.

Scheming!

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 19/01/2018 13:27

Ann was explicit in her disapproval of anyone laughing at the fake labour task. Given that we only see a small percentage of what goes on, she may well have done it again. And yes, you don't have to talk to communicate something.

Not that I don't also disapprove of some of the shit happening in there, and would probably be showing it myself, but it's just not true to say Ann doesn't make her disapproval abundantly clear. She had Jess in tears after that task which I would also have laughed at.

And of course Ann can take a debate. That was her job.

IhaveChillyToes · 19/01/2018 13:32

I totally agree it is Rachel stirring it by saying Ann doesn't approve of xxxxxxxx or yyyyyyyy

But it is Rachel that doesn't approve - the stuff last night about sleeping in bed with 47 year old grandfather

Ann just says do what you like I just don't want to have to watch it or listen to it - hence my point about what do they get up to once she is in bed

Absolutely nothing apart from sit around smoking and talking about sex and showmance, why aren't they doing all the stuff that she supposedly disapproves of like going in hot tub naked or sauna running round playing games in the garden,

The reason isn't Ann it is cos they are BORING WITH NO IMAGINATION

as the other nights live feed showed

It was them sitting around talking and smoking talking about sex and fakemance

I would love some debates in there with real topics not just sex talk

I love the idea of the diary room being locked and no announcements by Bob just leave them totally alone - just to see what happens
*
Especially on a Friday

Change eviction night to Saturday one week

It would totally mess with their tiny minds*

MrsJayy · 19/01/2018 13:34

Rachel reminds me of Nadia Sawalhia trying to be all cool with everything so she didn't look bad/got screen time

PandasRock · 19/01/2018 13:37

Sleep

Malika, Shane J Ashley and Ginuwine were talking again about Ann’s disapproval and how they feel it stifles their behaviour. Malika commented about Ann’s reaction when someone was talking about Ashley and Ginuwine cuddling. Dapper walked through and said ‘Wot, it’s not like she’s ain’t ever had a blowjob’ and everyone dissolved into laughter (at Ann the virgin? St the thought of anyone wanting a blowjob from Ann?) and Malika said ‘and that there may be the root of the problem’

So Malika as vilely culpable as Dapper in that one.

Dapper and Ginuwine continued to snigger childishly at the thought of Ann giving someone a blowjob with Dapper posturing in a ‘what? You know I’m just speaking the truth’ faux innocence way.

Horrible, deeply misogynistic behaviour.

PandasRock · 19/01/2018 13:42

Quite, Chilly. Why aren’t they getting up to everything once Ann is in bed?

Is it because actually Ashley and Jess and Malika don’t want to be running around cavorting in the hot tub? But it’s easier for them to blame Ann for stopping them, than to just say ‘I don’t want to do that’

Ann was not bothered by Shane being Courtney, or by Andrew being Betty. She has said she doesn’t like the Courtney persona (vulgar in-your-face sexual behaviour) but she wasn’t bothered by the make up or clothes, or a man presenting as a woman (she wasn’t bothered by IW either, transgender-wise).

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 13:44

Yes, you are right umbrella - she did express her disapproval over the pain task. As would I. I was referring to the supposed disapproval of swearing / sex / ladbantz / bumcrack waxing.

Yes MrsJayy - I'd forgotten about Nadia doing that!

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 19/01/2018 13:50

Anne, I've seen her pull disapproving faces. You don't have to say out loud that you don't agree with something. She may be absolutely fine with some things and not fine with others; she is very insistent on modesty and her complaint about Courtney was not the cross-dressing but the outfit, and she verbalised that too. But you couldn't not be aware of her feelings.

However, I do think they're overplaying it. I think that set of young people don't spend much time with people outside their immediate circles where all that sort of thing is indeed just bantz and all admired. I suspect other housemates also think it's all tedious beyond belief but are ignoring them or have better poker faces than Ann. Rachel has disappointed me. So they are confronting someone not remotely bothered about upsetting them with disapproval and it's discomforting them, so they attack.

Andrew has absolutely no right to be so vulgar and offensive and Ann does have every right to object to that on the grounds of taste, never deference to her age, which is what Andrew turns it into. That way he gets to avoid actually thinking about it all.

misspetite · 19/01/2018 13:52

High morals, really good old fashioned ways and how some of our parents were brought up, be respectful, hard work and so on- that is all that Ann is guilty of.
Please lay off Ann.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 19/01/2018 14:00

And yet, misspetite, you are a fan of Dapper, who made jokes about her being forced to give a blow job. Much nastier than anything that's been said on here. And not exactly reflective of being respectful.

GoldenGumballs · 19/01/2018 14:04

If Ann stays tonight she'll win it all!

BeyondWW · 19/01/2018 15:26

Hopefully Ann will have got votes from the dapper-likers for keeping him in. I don’t know who I want to go as the second person tonight. Number one is obviously Andrew.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 19/01/2018 15:56

High morals, really good old fashioned ways and how some of our parents were brought up, be respectful, hard work and so on- that is all that Ann is guilty of. and wanting to shackle vulnerable women prisoners when they are giving birth Hmm
