BeyondWW · 19/01/2018 16:12

Are you in the fb group, sole Wink I just saw that picture!

SoleBizzz · 19/01/2018 16:14

Yes I nicked it. I like the elephants

futuristic1 · 19/01/2018 16:18

Yep - no matter how shitty they are and however dubious their motivations - it still stands that the other housemates show more consideration and give more thought to Ann's supposed 'feelings' than she does to theirs.

mirialis · 19/01/2018 16:24

Ann is a different matter because Ann should know better

She does not have the excuse of being stupid, desperate or uneducated, venal or immoral

Why is someone like Andrew off the hook (he's got a first class degree in aeronautical engineering so he's neither stupid, uneducated nor desperate) and Ann isn't?

Being immoral or venal is not "an excuse" surely? Confused

QuiQuaiQuod · 19/01/2018 16:35

Annes bestie in the house is GAY Amanda. homophobic? and she does panto every year with drag queens.

How the hell did daniel get out of nomming ? and why wasnt he a gentleman and save Anne? If D had chosen maggie no one wiuld have made a fuss, theyve got it in for Anne.

Ashley. really? whinging about not wanting to share a bed with G yet next min there they are. creey creeperson.

malika sounded like that woman a few CBBs ago, the one with david Gest and Angi Bowie, that schreechy woman. Anne fake???????????????? WTF? shes the only natural one in there, apart from Amanda.

I agree - the issue isn't whether Ann disapproves and shows it. She does. The issue is whether her disapproval should have such an impact on them and, if it does, why. And I reckon they just aren't used to such open negative appraisal.

Andrew clearly thought for example that all the old woman needed was a bit of charm. He's underestimated her.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 19/01/2018 16:52

Although she is easier on the men. The hugging of Dapper, the nominating of the two women for their behaviour, and on and on. But that's not because she's been charmed by the men. It's because she has fixed views of what men and women should be like and how they should relate to each other.

BeyondWW · 19/01/2018 16:53

Mimpi, I agree btw, it's certainly a possibility imo that she is autistic. But I know we shouldn't internet-diagnose, so shhh Wink

futuristic1 · 19/01/2018 17:03

Of course the HMs find Ann's disapproval difficult.

Don't all children want the approval of their parents?

Most people generally don't like to be criticised or to feel they are at fault - that's just human. The HMs are not weird for having natural feelings of inadequacy.

Ann is wrong to persist in behaviour which undermines the other HMs self-esteem.

She is largely oblivious of their disapproval of her. That may be autism. It may be confidence or arrogance. It may be ignorance. Whatever it is, she's got it.

Even if she realised she'd upset them, she probably wouldn't change her behaviour because she would consider herself right.

She wouldn't give it a second thought because she doesn't reflect on the consequences of her own actions and yet that's exactly what she demands of them!!! Odd that!

But she has God on her side - so she KNOWs she's right! ha ha ha

ihavechillytoes is absolutlely right about Anne being the voice of the housemates conscience. If they were happy in themselves with the way they were behaving the views of an out of date old biddy wouldn't bother them. For instance if she said 'I disapprove of you having coffee for breakfast, all decent people drink mead as a morning beverage' they would roll their eyes and continue drinking coffee because it would be apparent that she was wrong. However in their hearts they know that some of what she says about is correct and they resent being reminded of that.

BringMeTea · 19/01/2018 17:23

Despite my misgivings about Ann and her views I hope she stays. I would much rather her than spermy sex pond antics.

Qui- Malika does not sound like the woman in the CBB when Angie Bowie was present
Btw futuristic- I am enjoying your insightful posts

PandasRock · 19/01/2018 17:57

I don’t think Ann is oblivious if he other housemates disapproval at all. She just doesn’t let her life be ruled by others opinions of her, and won’t compromise her beliefs to gain approval. That’s a strong character.

I also think hat if she had actually upset or offended someone, she would herself be upset. She may not show this well, and might come across as curmudgeonly when apologising, but I do not think she sets out to upset, belittle, distress, or offend anyone.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 18:24

Women are always judged for having strong opinions. A man wouldn't get half the stick Ann is getting.

Some of the stuff being spouted is bizarre and almost seems like there are other motivations behind them, but in the spirit of the thread we just agree to disagree.

I think it will be Rachel and either John or Maggie out tonight. None of them will be a loss - John is getting no airtime at all, neither is Maggie and Rachel is a shit-stirrer.

I haven't watched BB or CBB for years. I'm watching this series because of IW.

It's really disappointing that the year of the woman indicates that women are objectified into either:

  • young/sexy/should be available to men or what's the point of them
  • no longer young and sexy and therefore what's the point of them.

When they are in the 'what's the point of them' category they are subject to sickening verbal sexualized abuse. The tone is that they need a violent seeing to. Im genuinely sickened/appalled at the men's attitude and how this has been the soundtrack of the Year of the Woman.

Is this discussion normal for CBB? Is it just showing off or is this what the UK is like now?

I'm even disappointed by Shane J who would rather acquiesce to be one of the boys.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 18:34

walking There are a lot of stupid people and there always have been - it is just that nowadays we get to see and hear them because of reality TV and the internet.

Dapper's comments about blow jobs in relation to Ann should have caused outrage in and out of the house. They don't because it is seemingly cool to be vulgar and abhorrent to have principles.

OP posts:
walkingtheplank · 19/01/2018 18:43

So if Dapper said that to a group of average blokes, would they laugh, or pull him up on it? Andrew is a well educated young man.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/01/2018 18:49

Sadly I think they would laugh.

OP posts:
BringMeTea · 19/01/2018 18:55

Of course they would laugh! Or if they didn’t it would be because it wasn’t witty enough, not because it is offensive and misogynistic, sadly.
