Waiting out for the next series of Our Girl set in Nigeria. Some of us are still mourning the passing of Elvis Harte. All discussions on Captain James and his team welcome here (as well as other things from time to time).

I suppose Elvis is thinking - thanks very much, I have just saved your life OR maybe he's thinking she's still the girl I love.

Ilovelblue · 27/02/2018 21:59

Rhu, if it's just the two of us, we may as well go for Tuesday again next week.

When we get to episode 5, I could only do Friday 23 March, or we leave it until the following week.

eejittwo · 27/02/2018 22:02

The episode 5 week is also a week from hell, incidentally.

Rhubarb01 · 27/02/2018 22:03

Ok, Tuesday is fine next week and Friday 23rd is fine as well.

eejittwo · 27/02/2018 22:15

PS - because there wasn't enough time to make the comment in the relevant scene - back at the shower scene, it's clear that Elvis regards this as his chance at a second chance, to mend his bridges with Georgie - all of which, of course, is relevant for next week's episode 3.

Rhubarb01 · 27/02/2018 22:21

Yes eejit and there's absolutely no doubt in Elvis's mind that he is going to rescue Georgie alive and have a chance to 'get her back'. When you consider that her position as a hostage is really very precarious it shows a great faith in his own abilities.

Rhubarb01 · 27/02/2018 22:24

I really loved episode 2 of this series but it was the highlight in my opinion. It does get a bit soapy after this, especially when they get back to England - far too many weddings.

Ilovelblue · 27/02/2018 22:44

Re the shower scene, I think I hit the rewind button on the remote by mistake and I was desperately trying to find the right spot again, so I didn't manage to make my usual comment about the thickness of Elvis's towel. Am sure that that towel was not army issue. I reckon it had to be M&S at lest, if not John Lewis!

"it shows a great faith in his own abilities" - in fairness, if you don't believe you are going to succeed, how would you ever go into that sort of situation?

eejittwo · 27/02/2018 23:04

I like episodes 2 and 3 particularly, and only watch the Elvis bits in 4 and 5, but then ...
Episode 3, I think, sets up beautifully the climax of Episode 5.

Sorry I didn’t make it last night but have just enjoyed reading your comments. An episode with lots of CJ and LP
We have an absolute white out at the moment

Good morning. Apologies didn't manage to follow all the comments on episode 2 last night but have of course caught up on them this a.m. Agree about episode 2 being the best and remember at the time that I felt quite excited about what might follow. Episodes 3 and 4 didn't keep up the momentum - too much Dr Dull I think. Still it is just good to keep us all focused on Our Girl so thanks yet again for keeping it rolling along until we hope April brings the next lot.

Ilovelblue · 01/03/2018 09:48

How are we doing in this weather? We've drifting snow here with the strong winds. It was snowing when I went to bed and it's snowing again just at the moment.

I think today is a good opportunity to watch OG and re-read some of my

Posted too soon! I meant to re-read some of my favourite ff.

Good plan, ilove Smile

Magi84 · 01/03/2018 11:31

With you on that plan Ilove any excuse to read lots of ff suits me. Actually we haven't come off too badly with snow. Had quite a bit but schools are still open and roads usable. It has been absolutely horrendous for many many people and we can only hope it doesn't last too long.

Ilovelblue · 01/03/2018 16:49

Most of the snow has melted now. Just a few icy patches, but it's the wind that is causing the problems at the moment. A friend who lives about 5 miles away has no electricity at the moment. Their entire village has been cut off. It's rare for me to sit by the fire doing nothing but that is what I have done this afternoon. Call the Midwife, Collateral and would you believe it... OG!

I see both LP and MK are in the gossip columns again this week. Looks as if Mark Wright has been liking photos of half naked women on Instagram.

Oh dear weather bleaker than ever here. Everything grey with sleet falling which they now say will turn to ice when it reaches ground because of this dreaded wind chill thingy. Only consolation I'm finding at present is that because we are now in March I can say to myself "next month" when I think about next lot of OG. Finally seems nearer at hand. Hope it is not a blooming let down and that there is plenty of worthwhile CJ in it.

Rhubarb01 · 02/03/2018 19:30

Evening all! Lots of snow down here in the West Country. we've got about a foot in the garden. For once the forecast was correct! I walked to work and back today as thankfully it's near enough to walk and on a day like today the best way of getting there. It's always a bit weird when you find the easiest way to get anywhere is to walk up the middle of the main road but with hardly any traffic and moving at a snail's pace still the best way. The weather very much reminds me of that saying regarding March "In like a lion and out like a lamb."

I've been catching up with my watching as well ilove as I had Monday's episode of Collateral outstanding and two episodes of CTM as well as the first episode of Strike. Whilst watching CTM I finally realised - a bit late- what they are trying to do with the colour scheme of the programme. It's been mentioned lots of times on the CTM thread that the colour teal is in almost every shot (walls, clothes, curtains etc) and I finally realised that they're trying to make it look like one of those old coloured postcards from the fifties and sixities with the yellows, browns, pinks and teals. I haven't noticed it in previous series but this time it's really obvious in the set decor and the clothes everyone is wearing.

I do hope that OG is back soon. It will be great to get some news about the next few episodes now that we've got over the demise of Elvis - sorry to mention it. I wonder how much time is supposed to have passed and what will have changed. There's supposed to be a new SF chap isn't there? That will be interesting even if it isn't Elivs Sad.

eejittwo · 02/03/2018 20:46

Just been watching the second episode of the first series of Musketeers, in which D'Artagnan very nearly gets blown up - and certainly gets blown off his feet. He seems to make a habit of it. And no, some of us have not got over the demise of Elvis.

Ilovelblue · 02/03/2018 22:10

eejit I'm with you there. Rhu how fickle can you be! :) I still can't watch the end of episode 4 without tears!

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 02/03/2018 22:56

We've got off fairly lightly in my part of Lancashire with the horrendous weather conditions and although we've had snow, the majority of it has now disappeared though it was drifting yesterday in the winds. Yesterday and today the winds have been vicious. I was awake half the night as I kept thinking the roof was going to blow off! They did die down a bit late afternoon but seem to have strengthened again.

Rhu what do you make of Collateral? I fell asleep during episode 3 so am very relieved I had recorded it as it took me three attempts to get through it.

Has anyone seen this?

It looks as if BA is still desperate to break into the American film/TV scene. I am sure he can do better than this for himself.

I think the new SF character is called Bones. I did see his real name somewhere and he is quite nice looking but have no idea where I saw it now so can't post it on here. Hopefully, we're not going to have too long to wait now.

Rhubarb01 · 03/03/2018 00:01

Now then, ladies, I never said I'd forgotten Elvis...who could? I've just learned to accept his enforced absence from the rest of this series and am prepared to broaden my horizons Grin

As for the news about BA's next pilot I can only assume he is looking for something completely different and perhaps he's more likely to be offered something like that in America plus they do seem to like Brit actors especially when they play baddies. The plot reminds me a little bit of the film Double Jeopardy (Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones) - probably the bit about chucking his wife overboard and how she then goes after him later. [In the film he frames her for his apparent murder on a yacht and years later she goes after him with the help of Tommy Lee Jones]. Mind you, it's very tough to get series commissioned over there and they make dozens of pilots .
