I certainly am

I don't think it's a good as it was when it first started, and it can be a tad predictable at times but I still love this show

I have it on my Kindle and off to re-read it now. From memory I think Sister Julienne and Cynthia are also mentioned.

I’m not sure Chummy and Trixie were real, I think they were an amalgamation of other characters.

MadAssHatter · 14/02/2018 22:37

How many books are there, can someone tell me?

BertieBotts · 14/02/2018 22:39

Three - Call The Midwife, Secrets of the Workhouse, Farewell to the East End.

Polarbearflavour · 14/02/2018 22:42

Then In the Midst of Life and Death. And Letters to the Midwife.

The Midwife’s Sister by Christine Lee.

BertieBotts · 14/02/2018 22:47

Oh! I didn't know she'd done two more.

BertieBotts · 14/02/2018 22:49

What's Tales from a Midwife? Is that a different title for Call The Midwife or is it another book?

Polarbearflavour · 15/02/2018 17:01

Tales from a Midwife is the three Midwife books in one! So the complete trilogy.

www.eadt.co.uk/what-s-on/sister-of-call-the-midwife-author-jennifer-worth-reveals-all-about-the-day-their-childhood-happiness-crumbled-around-them-1-4003812 This gives some background to Jenny’s life. I would never have guessed that from her books!

There is another book called Sisters of the East End about the same order of nuns, the Sisters of St John the Divine. The motherhouse is still there today!

Jenny is also mentioned in this article: www.rcm.org.uk/news-views-and-analysis/views/call-the-real-midwives-a-trip-down-memory-lane

Thanks for those links. Really interesting.

Weezol · 17/02/2018 20:49

Thanks for the tips. I had always felt that in the first book especially 'young' Jenny came across as quite brittle and a bit cold. Felt quite mean thinking of her like that given the vital work she was doing.

I had no idea about her childhood, it explains a lot and I have downloaded Christine Lee's book.

Stephen Mcgann was on Sunday Brunch and to quote Sadie he is rather fond of himself Hmm

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:07

oh Lord, usually I'm a few babies in before I sniffle but the girls coming out to see Trixie off got me!

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:18

oh FFS even the poorpox-stricken sailor has teal accessories 😞🤤

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/02/2018 20:19

Tricia was dispatched a bit rapidly, wasn't she?!

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/02/2018 20:22

Oh FFS. Trixie, that should say. Also, isn't Violet's hair dreadful in this series? Really weirdly styled IMO.

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:28

Lacontessa, think it's over -lacquered!

SadieHH · 18/02/2018 20:42

Isn’t he MrsJayy. I was blind for so long and then it hit me one day that he was actually pretty unbearable. Since then I can’t bring myself to watch him.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/02/2018 20:50

You’re not needed in everything Mrs Turner!!!

Pebble21uk · 18/02/2018 20:53

Are there to be any scenes without Dr Turner in this week!!?

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:53

They needed the doctor straight away but she had a head full of curlers,

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:55

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/02/2018 20:55

Just kick her in the nose whilst your leg’s on her shoulder Eunice...

DorynownotFloundering · 18/02/2018 20:58
