Guess who's back?

I am yet to watch the interviews although I did read what you have all said about the interviews. I will try an catch up eventually.

My brother and his girlfriend are visiting today, hopefully they don't plan on staying and I will be able to watch the final with you all. But if I don't, at least I will have a thread to come and read tomorrow.

See you all at 9!

Your thread title says it all! I'll be watching, but I wanted Elizabeth to be there. Oh, well. I think she'll be one of the returning supporters, so better than nothing!

Eightbelles · 17/12/2017 12:18

Going to watch but I don't like either of their plans. Not sure who will do better.

JustDanceAddict · 17/12/2017 13:09

The business plans are so lame! Sweets and IT recruitment - bore off!!
I quite liked Joanna’s businesswear idea but she was clueless.
Will watch it nonetheless as I’ve investrd too much watching time to not bother.

ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2017 13:12

Oh it’s tonight?! Can’t wait!

jusdepamplemousse · 17/12/2017 13:20

I couldn’t believe Michaela didn’t make it through ahead of Sarah. M has proven business experience and success and an actually good idea. S has sat on hands fiddling with bows for the best part of a decade and her entire business is repacking (fairly craply?!) fairly crap sweets made by other people? What am I missing?!

James’s idea clearly has some merit and he has a lot of appeal himself in terms of personality, but perhaps not quite smart and driven enough to pull it all together?

V sad to see Elizabeth go, she was hilarious and actually very competent albeit in a fairly alienating way, although her development plan was quite underdeveloped and her products did lack a USP in a what is actually a v established market. Joanna’s idea was great but it was literally like it has just popped into her head - she had not researched at all. Did she even have a charitable foundation set up or a partnership with an existing one in place?!

ScreamingValenta · 17/12/2017 13:27

I don't think Sarah's business has any more of a USP than Elizabeth's. Arguably less, as anyone could bung some pick'n'mix in a jar and stick a ribbon on it ("the ribbon adds value to it" Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin ) whereas floristry at least requires some skill and knowledge. Elizabeth had also done more with her business, and is a more dynamic personality.

(Can you tell I wanted Elizabeth to win?}

jusdepamplemousse · 17/12/2017 13:30

Oh I entirely agree that S’s plan is terrible. Baffling that she’s there!

E’s better, yes...but still not great. I actually nosied at her website and her flowers are perfectly nice but not stand out or original.

Just think M should have been through on merit, grating though she is.

Nyx1 · 17/12/2017 13:36

I am going to watch but your title is spot on

any fun is going to be from the other contestants.

I find it ridiculous that James lied about accreditation and got to the final - who wants to be associated with that?! And the other finalist thought a bow on her sweets made them unique?

VelvetSpoon · 17/12/2017 13:40

I'm disappointed Michaela didn't get through. But she will continue to be successful irrespective I think.

There's something about Sarah I find really irritating. Im astonished she's made any money from such a crappy business. And with no working website!

LeeRorr · 17/12/2017 13:43

I don't think Sarah's business has any more of a USP than Elizabeth's. Arguably less, as anyone could bung some pick'n'mix in a jar and stick a ribbon on it

I thought the same thing when I heard it - I have a feeling James will win unless Lord Sugar has developed a craving for a bouquet of Curly Wurlies.

Figgygal · 17/12/2017 13:45

I will watch but yes totally uninterested in who wins

bakingcupcakes · 17/12/2017 13:45

I was expecting Michaela and Jade in the final. Couldn't believe it when Jade messed up the last task and then Michaela went aswell. Not keen on James or Sarah's business plans but I'll watch tonight anyway.

GreenRut · 17/12/2017 13:59

Michaela's business idea was the best one I've heard of in the show for a long time, and something which is definitely needed so I can only think that there are other reasons why they didn't put her through. They pinned it on her having these other businesses but doesn't Alan Sugar himself have loads of businesses and holdings?

I've loved Sarah all along but hers is a bit pants.

James will win I would have thought.

ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2017 15:59

Alan’s got a recruitemrnt business though doesn’t he - Ricky Martin who won a few years ago?

Fekko · 17/12/2017 16:03

There were a hopeless bunch though this year.

Ropsleybunny · 17/12/2017 16:06

I'm not even sure I'll watch it. What a pair of no hopers he's chosen. I loved the feistiness of Elizabeth and Michaela, he should have chosen these two.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 17/12/2017 16:12

I was really shocked that he didn't take Michaela on because she was too much of an entrepreneur. Surely there was a conversation with her about focusing on that one business for a while?

Elizabeth should have gone into a wider selection of corporate goods, rather than just flowers. Her florists weren't actually needed for her business idea anyway. If she'd offered a wide range of products that she could source and send, I think she'd have more chance of having a national chain, but while Interflora exists, she doesn't have a chance with just flowers.

DumbledoresApprentice · 17/12/2017 16:12

Sarah’s sweet brand was on sale in Selfridges today. They looked identical to the brand that they were selling in Debenhams but were twice the price. Hmm

LockedOutOfMN · 17/12/2017 16:17

I think Mark Wright, the Australian chap, also had a recruitment business/software? I might be wrong.

I didn't think she was perfect, but I felt Michaela was very strong and deserved to be in the final. Agree that she will do well regardless of being fired by Lord Sugar at this stage.

ItchybodBrain · 17/12/2017 16:17

As far as I can see, Sarah’s business plan is no different to 100s of FB selling pages where they wrap a few sweeties in cellophane, add some glitter writing that says things like “Sweet Thing’s For A Sweet ❣”

MyBrilliantDisguise · 17/12/2017 16:21

Yes, LockedOut, and I think his was recruitment for IT, too, wasn't it? I doubt he'll want James tagging along on that!

Dillite2 · 17/12/2017 16:38

Wasn't Ricky Martin a science field recruiter? What was Michaela's plan? I am yet to catch up. I don't understand why, of she has proven to be able to run several profitable businessess, she was fired? Doesn't Alan want to get his investment back?

OP posts:
MyBrilliantDisguise · 17/12/2017 16:45

Just looked him up - yes, science and technology recruitment.

He said she wouldn't give his business the focus it needed.

HonestlySomePeople · 17/12/2017 17:45

I think Sarah's won it.... if you look at her website now, it's much slicker and she's got shops like Selfridges and Harrods selling her stuff....
Those kind of stores have the pick of every one of her competitors... what made her product stand out more? (apart from a huge endorsement from Lord Sugar)

Roussette · 17/12/2017 20:34

Hi all... can I join in and so much agree on the title!

I actually like Sarah, she's been consistent all the way through but ye gods is her business idea boring.

As for James.... his teeth annoy me Grin and he just comes across as a wide boy.

There must be reasons why Michaela didn't go through, I thought she was quality and LordS missed a trick there. I liked her vulnerability that was coupled with an incredible drive.

Who knows what horrors tonight will bring?! Grin
