Comedyshortsgamer · 12/12/2017 19:30

As there is a show coming out on ITv with paddy mcguniess near christmas thought I would start a thread here about everyone's favourite TV moments of all time

OP posts:
Codlet · 12/12/2017 21:51

Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent. That voice after the judges had taken the piss out of her for being an oddball. Gives me goosebumps.

Anasnake · 12/12/2017 21:53

Blackadder - over the top

Maryz · 12/12/2017 21:54

If we are talking serious stuff (moon landings etc), surely the most memorable must be the Twin Towers coming down? So many of us watched that in real time. And similarly, I saw the aftermath of the Omagh bombings "live" - fewer people, obviously, but the same sense of absolute horror.

Or the Boxing Day Tsunami; I saw that live too Sad

There are loads of funny ones, I love most of the ones listed here, but they are two different threads really.

This Life
When Milly punched Rachel on the dance floor.
epic

Ta1kinPeace · 12/12/2017 21:59

The end of Red Dwarf Season 4 when they take of the headsets and realise its all a VR game

or any of the Season 1 endings in Twin Peaks

MintChocAddict · 12/12/2017 22:26

Musharaf delivering his speech in Educating Yorkshire. I cry every single time I see it.
Sob!!!

XmasInTintagel · 12/12/2017 22:29

the office second part Christmas special when dawn and Tim get together.
This ^. Fantastic scene, absolutely beautiful :-)

velouria · 12/12/2017 22:38

This life punch was amazing.

For some reason just got round to watching England '86 that scene in the last episode with lol and her dad. Fuck me that was powerful.

The end of black mirror "shut up and dance" set to exit music for a film, total smack in the face, shivers up the spine moment first and even subsequent watches.

When Francis chucks the girl off the roof in original house of cards.

Threads "they've done it, they've bloody done it"

For a funny one, well it wasn't ha ha, but in misfits where Kelly realises she has had sex with a gorilla transformed into a man who is now dressed as a gorilla (I love a bit of absurdity).

OlennasWimple · 12/12/2017 23:14

All of the above

Plus the last episode of MASH where Hawkeye realises that the lady on the bus had smothered her baby, not a chicken Sad

Lojama75 · 12/12/2017 23:19

Judy Finnegan's dress falling down

mateysmum · 12/12/2017 23:38

Some great ones mentioned already. housewife I remember the Nicholas Winton thing too - watched it live. Truly, truly moving before the age of reality and public participation TV.

On a lighter note, can I add a Morecambe and Wise sketch - Andre Preview.. all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.

OneInAMillionYou · 13/12/2017 00:10

9/11 coverage had the most impact. To watch the Towers fall is something I will never forget. The horror and the knowledge that the world had changed forever.

On a lighter note, I also vote for Milly punching Rachel in 'This Life'. Loved that show

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 13/12/2017 00:14

elton john falling off his chair at the tennis :)

BonnieF · 13/12/2017 00:15

Some people are on the pitch! They think it's all over.....it is now!

DustyMaiden · 13/12/2017 00:25

The twin towers, never forget I turned the tv on and sat to feed DS, thought I was watching a film, couldn’t comprehend it was real.

Choccywoccyhooha · 13/12/2017 01:18

Yes, Milly punching Rachel in This Life.
Or Anna having a drink thrown over her and saying "You should have warned me, I would have kept my mouth open."

Or maybe Mr Bronson opening the backdoor to his car and there was dead Danny Kendal.

In terms of TV news then the Challenger Disaster, Berlin Wall coming down, and 9/11.

Chamomile · 13/12/2017 01:25

The last ep. of Blake's Seven where they all get killed, except Avon. It was shown at Christmas as well. I've never got over it!

pallisers · 13/12/2017 04:38

I don't cry easily but I cried watching that Nicholas Winton scene (googled it).

I remember watching the scene in Coronation Street when Hilda Ogden comes home after Stan's funeral. Superb acting - and writing - and direction.

toopeoply · 13/12/2017 04:54

Probably one of the most memorable for me, was that terrifying (at the time!) halloween episode of a Phillip Schofield and Sarah Green TV show.

christmashope · 13/12/2017 05:16

I have 2
Cried my eyes out in 1992 when in home and away meg died on the beach in Blake’s arms

And 1988
Scott and Charlene’s wedding in neighbours

Ilovetolurk · 13/12/2017 05:27

Came on to say Torvill and Dean to find 3 people already got here first!

velouria I’m afraid that Exit Music was already used by Person of Interest , the final 5 minutes of season 3, and definitely hairs on the back of the neck stuff

I think Charlie must be a not so secret POI Fan

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 13/12/2017 05:30

Third the Nicholas Winton clip. I'm only here because of that wonderful man. The Kindertransport saved my Grandfather from inevitable death. (His whole family perished in Sachsenhausen).
On a lighter note that Sam Fox made me laugh despite my highbrow pretensions.
Oh and the other significant moment was on 9/11. I remember rushing down the corridor at work to the porter's room and watching the towers fall on a black and white portable telly. It was only later that night when the BBC showed footage of people falling/jumping set to Barber's Adaggio that the horror fully set in.

BikeRunSki · 13/12/2017 05:59

David Attenborough’s piece to camera at the end of Planet Earth 2. Very stirring

That, and Del Boy falling through the bar.

Both genius in different ways.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 13/12/2017 08:50

The moment in The Office Christmas Special when Dawn and Tim finally kiss to the sound of Only You by Yazoo. I always cry when I watch it.

BusterTheBulldog · 13/12/2017 08:57

If we’re allowed sports then jess Ennis winning the 800m in 2012 to take gold.

Tim and dawn in the office and del at the end of Rodney’s wedding with simply red playing in the background both get me every time.

Great thread!
