Not silly, actually. Racism is defined as prejudice directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Not that one's own race and a few other races as well are superior.

People can have more negative feelings towards a particular race or races than they do others. People can associate different races or cultures with different things and treat people from those races or cultures in a particular way when they first meet them based on these prejudices. They might treat a stranger from Pakistan differently from a stranger from Japan. They might be happier for their son or daughter to marry someone from one race that is different from their own than another.

I know people want to move onto dance talk so I'm off

Cherrypi · 02/12/2017 21:25

Davood and Alexandra I think like others have said. Lots of ties means no one is safe this week.

EvilRingahBitch · 02/12/2017 21:26

The answer is that yes it is possible for the top two dancers to end up in the dance-off but I think you’d need to reverse the judges’ order completely in the voting (there may be a couple of other permutations possible because of ties).

FuzzyCustard · 02/12/2017 21:27

I can't say I've ever tried to work out the permutations of the voting. Too confusing. And after all, we only have to wait until "tomorrow" (ahem) to find out the results.

schaden 9 out of 10 people could probably tell you who is....now what was that number again?

GColdtimer · 02/12/2017 21:28

Ok then @totalnamechanger explain the Oti love on here.

FuzzyCustard · 02/12/2017 21:28

Ooh evil that's clever! I'm impressed. Even more for you showing your workings out!

WeatherDependent · 02/12/2017 21:29

Personally I just think Alexandra comes over as false and not sincere, I absolutely love Oti though. Just my own opinion, not right not wrong just how I feel.

Some people come over well and some don’t, it’s not about the colour of your skin it’s your personality. Some personalities suit you and some don’t.

Horses for courses and all that Glitterball

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2017 21:31

I think it was 59, Fuzzy

Just one digit (ahem) away from a gusset-thrilling experience . . .

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 21:33

You are a star, EvilRingah! Glitterball

IhaveChillyToes · 02/12/2017 21:35

Thank you for score card

There can't possibly be an equal exact number of public votes

Can there?

FuzzyCustard · 02/12/2017 21:38

fnar fnar schaden. Some people's gussets obviously not mine have seen quite enough action for one season

Lionso · 02/12/2017 21:39

I thought Joe had more dance training than Alex, and yes that is definitely not mentioned as much.

I loved Molllie's and Alex' dances the most tonight. :)

totalnamechanger · 02/12/2017 21:46

Well Oti is a professional and won't be subject to the same scrutiny because she won't lay herself as bare. Oti's cultural heritage is also not the same as Alexandra's.

As I said before I have no idea if someone is racist or not on here because if they were overtly racist their message would be reported and pulled immediately. I agreed with green that it was getting personal. I agree with a previous poster that we can have unconscious biases. I am white. My DC is mixed race but I can't say I am exempt from these biases. I'd like to try and recognise them and challenge them.

GColdtimer · 02/12/2017 22:11

I don't really have an opinion either way on AB to be honest and don't like the attacks some have made on her. I just think saying it's racist is ridiculous. Especially when you see the amount of love for Oti, a black woman, gets in here.

Anyway, back to the dancing. It's a tough one to call tonight. I think it could be Davood and Gemma in the DO.

HangryHanderson · 02/12/2017 22:24

Just caught up. Have some Wine and Cake you lovely bunch.
Gutted to have missed a Strictly Pointless show, who won?
Would love to have Richard Osman on SCD but he Is So Tall. I wonder whether he could do it (his sight is so impaired doesn't he come under partially sighted?) Would love him on it though. Wold also love Adam Hills (thank you to the pp who put me onto The Last Leg last week. I'm with Oti. Adam would be glorious).

Enjoyed tonight. Can't call it. Would guess Davood though.

Gemma - fine. I always think backing dancers should be restricted to Blackpool but it was enjoyable. How does Aljaz, who is so bloody good at waltz, always end up with so much gapping though? with every partner including Abbey. Has Janette cannily installed a repulsion crotch magnet or what?

Mollie - I liked it - banister-bothering 'an all. Liked the leap into his arms, not as Otiesque as Misty Blue's leap of faith but good nonetheless. Not sure how much rumba there was though.

Joe - I said if he and Katya pulled off that number they deserved their place in the semis and although I didn't see perfection (I thought he looked a bit exaggerated/laboured) bloody good going for that song and theme. He reminded me of Alan Cumming. Think he is safe.

Debs - I thought she messed up the first pirouette but must be just me. The lift was impressive. Less keen on theming, costume and cats score in general (definitely just me). Wonder if people will assume her and Alex are safe.

Davood - stitched up by the music and theme. The mask slightly better than Anton's entrails one but only marginally and didn't flatter him. Some legwork nice but I think he's going home.

Alex - I love her but didn't love this. Definitely the boots. I actually preferred Fern and Artem's lower scoring one to the same number a few years back. She made a much better Eliza than Mary, blame that on costuming. It just felt flat to me and not a showstopper.

Musicals week is always an odd one for me. Especially when you consider the overlap between numbers already done before the theme work that came from musicals (it's almost like they double up on the songs in advance but don't save them for week 11).

My favourites were Joe, Mollie and probably Gemma tonight.
Least favourite was Davood. Sympathies if the song was foisted on them.

HangryHanderson · 02/12/2017 22:44

theme week not work

examples of routines that could have happened tonight instead:
be italian (nine)
this nearly was mine (south pacific)
I'm a woman (smokey joe revue)
Climb every mountain (sound of music)
let's call the whole thing off (shall we dance?)
if I only had a brain (wizard of oz)
wouldn't it be loverly (my fair lady)
stayin alive (saturday night fever)
copacabana (copacabana)
killer queen (we will rock you)
shady dame (victor victoria)
mack the knife (3penny opera)
lambeth walk (me and my girl)
gold diggers song (42nd st)

it does make me wonder whether other pros brought forward their numbers pre week 11 and/or any pro nicked an eliminated couple's song choice for musical week (I know sometimes a pro will opt for another track eg Brendan using Lady and the Tramp, can't remember who had it originally but they left before they could perform it).

HangryHanderson · 02/12/2017 22:52

and that list doesn't include the spice girls debacle cos I am not counting viva forever! as a musical (we will rock you has a lot to answer for! Grin) or love is in the air/frans paso from Strictly Ballroom cos it's not made it to the West End yet Wink

I do wish I'd seen Kevin and Susan's Mama Mia routine though instead of Davood's Phantom. I'd have got more out of it. Nature of the show though, Davood's waltz was divine.

My favourite routine from a musical number goes to Camilla:

bonfireheart · 02/12/2017 23:37

I wonder though if AB was in DO - who would she need to be against for judges to not vote to save her?
AB v Davood, Mollie, Gemma, Jo and she'd go. I think the only one who might be saved over her is Debbie and that would really depend on who bought it to the lady dance. I think AB will be in all the DOs until the final.

ChoccyJules · 02/12/2017 23:52

I liked Alexandra's dance, was surprised given his comments that Craig didn't give her a 10 to separate her from the others (didn't he already hand out two 9s?). Agree that the costume was odd though, put me off as I was wondering who she was supposed to be in the story. I didn't like how she grabbed Claud to make sure she got her bit about closing the show on camera though. Pretty sure I would have said that if anyone had done it.
Joe's was good but a bit wierd, not sure if that was trying to squash that dance, music and theme into the same package. Obvs I still voted for him cos he's my favourite Blush

bonfireheart · 03/12/2017 00:08

I think AB shoes were a bad choice.

I just want Joe Varney to win. Not fussed about Debbie!

CeeBeeBee · 03/12/2017 00:12

I liked how Davood and Hemma put their arms around each other when it was announced that they were both bottom of the leaderboard. It was lovely seeing them being supportive to one another.

CeeBeeBee · 03/12/2017 00:12

Gemma!

bonfireheart · 03/12/2017 08:41

Just rewatching the dance dance and this is definitely the year of the gusset!

Inkanta · 03/12/2017 09:02

Yes I watched the dances again this morning. The gusset lift is not pretty - particularly with black pants. What was she thinking there bringing that into the routine.

MyNameIsJane · 03/12/2017 09:04

I hate the exhibition of the gusset too!
