If we are racist to AB, why the Oti love?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/12/2017 20:31

OK, just to assuage greennailvarnish's concerns, I will freely admit that I consistently voted for Louis Smith throughout series 10 of Strictly, threw a number of votes Chelsee Healey's way in series 9, gave all my votes to Danny Mac and his partner Oti Mabuse in series 14... How does that square with my apparent racism? (and by the way, "really, you just don't like her because she is different to you" and "I know I am right" - could you be more ridiculously patronising?)

FFS, this is such a lovely thread and Strictly was fun tonight and now I'm grumpy because of some ridiculous paranoid comment which I should know better than to rise to.

Here you go greennailvarnish, just have a Biscuit

Bejazzled · 02/12/2017 20:31

I don't look like Susan, Johnny or Debbie or Aston and that's who I've been voting for previously Confused

Tonight I voted Davood, Davood and Debbie. I must be strange, or possibly just honest.

dolfinne · 02/12/2017 20:32

if everyone who hated AB was racist wouldnt they hate Davood too, i dont see many people disliking him on here

IhaveChillyToes · 02/12/2017 20:34

What time does voting finish please?

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 20:35

20:45, chillytoes

dolfinne · 02/12/2017 20:36

Only Johnie and Susan are announced for the tour so far, do they usually announce after the show has ended ? ive heard speculation (it was probably James Jordan )before, that they want those who are on the tour to make the final, but that isnt true in this instance, the only people on the tour are out !

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2017 20:37

I know I am right.

Well - if you know you are right, we won't try to confuse you with facts, varnish

(Have you mentioned your own ethnicity? If so, I must have missed it. FWIW my g/father was from the Seychelles)

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 20:37

Gorka was born in 1990. That makes him 17, right?

How was 1990 nearly 30 years ago?

IhaveChillyToes · 02/12/2017 20:37

Thank you

SoupDragon · 02/12/2017 20:38

^Her dancing is amazing. I think if people here on this this thread are honest and self reflect, they may realise that they are a bit racist.
Yes I have said it. Deep down you are. You may parade it as ' I can't warm to her' or ' I don't like the power she has compared to Debbie's tension' but really, you just don't like her because she is different to you.^

Her dancing is not always amazing.

As for the accusation of racism, that's lazy and predictable.

TheDrsDocMartens · 02/12/2017 20:38

I loved Louis Smith. He divided people at times but he was great to watch learning to dance and Flavia did a great job with him.

Who did Chelsea Healey lose to in the end? Think that was a season I had two favourites, her and someone else.

NumberEightyOne · 02/12/2017 20:39

The people some posters are calling false are real people with real feelings. I can't understand how people can be so critical of other people who they only see a snapshot of on TV. There may be a million reasons why people may not come across well. They may be tired or nervous or God forbid they may just really want to win.

QuiteUnfitBit · 02/12/2017 20:41

How was 1990 nearly 30 years ago? Because it was 27 years ago?

CaveMum · 02/12/2017 20:42

Quick summary of thoughts:

Gemma - I liked it
Joe - loved it, thought it worked surprisingly well
Mollie - stupid AJ with his illegal lift! It was nice but personally I thought her timing was a bit off at times
Debbie - it was good but just left me a bit cold
Davood - I don’t like fast ATs, for me they should be danced slowly so that they smoulder, IYKWIM
Alexandra - it was very good but not “10” good

Based on the scores I’m guessing a Gemma v Davood dance off.

CeeBeeBee · 02/12/2017 20:42

Grouchy, Gorka is 27, which rounded to the nearest 10 would be 30. No way is he 17!

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 20:43

Harry Judd won Chelsee's year. He was good, but I thought Chelsee was better.

FuzzyCustard · 02/12/2017 20:43

With you again grouchy - 1990 was but yesterday. People born then should not have facial hair yet.

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 20:43

Hah, and the year Aliona won with Jay I though Georgia was better.

Thetreesareallgone · 02/12/2017 20:45

I agree Alexandra was stompy tonight, however that was partly because of the costume department, it's hard to look flapper-like with giant boots on. Bit the same as Joe in Blackpool, couldn't look sexy in a neon t-shirt. It can be a bit luck of the draw with the outfits.

My dd's favourite is Alexandra, although she loved 'the little couple' which was Aston and Janette the best and was really sad when they left.

My favourite is still Debbeh, I thought her dance was genuinely moving tonight.

GrouchyKiwi · 02/12/2017 20:45

Cee I know. I keep being flabbergasted that the 90s are so long ago. Where did all those years disappear?

TheSassyAssassin · 02/12/2017 20:46

Think Grouchy was being ironic...i.e. how the feck is it that almost 3 decades have passed since it was 1990? Like wasn't it 5mins ago kinda thing....think Grouchy can do her maths Smile

QuiteUnfitBit · 02/12/2017 20:47

Grouchykiwi I should pay attention better when reading Grin

CeeBeeBee · 02/12/2017 20:47

ah, I misinterpreted Grouchy. Yes, 90s didn't seem long ago for me either!

TheSassyAssassin · 02/12/2017 20:47
