Chris Evans' was trying to get his sidekick Vassos on Strictly this year as he'd been asked to audition for DOI.

I'd love to see Benedict Cumberbatch do Strictly. I think he'd be gorgeous in tails for some proper Ballroom, but not sure about his Latin potential Grin Suspect he's too A-list for the show though.

I'd like to see Sara Cox do the full show too (think she did the Christmas Special once?), she's one of those people who loves to throw herself into a challenge!

TheSassyAssassin · 20/11/2017 09:06

Yes I suddenly thought she might have been CeeBee...whoops..must pay more attention Wink....

TimFromRuislip · 20/11/2017 09:08

Miranda Hart is a big fan of the show, I think she has a party for the strictly final every year, but whether she would actually want to do it idk. It would be a challenge to have a tall woman, I think she's about 6 foot. Was one of the Kidd sisters on strictly, or am I imagining that?

TheSassyAssassin · 20/11/2017 09:09

Jodie Kidd did it....with Ian Waite I think?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:12

Bruno wasn’t rude this week thank goodness.

Probably got a hell of a shock when he saw the social media response to his "Just don't cock it up." I think he has no self-awareness.

Let's have a politician - Gove would be hilarious!

I'd actually pay to see that Clawdy - but he wouldn't accept I don't think, as it would be below his dignity.

However . . . if he is invited, and if he does accept, then I think we should keep him in until the final just for the opportunities for abuse entertainment value.

He's such a reptile ....

TheSassyAssassin · 20/11/2017 09:14

And in that vein Schaden, how about Boris? Hilarious! Gove really is very reptilian isn't he?

scrabbler3 · 20/11/2017 09:15

Nigella would be fab.

One of the 1990s supermodels.

Ryan Giggs. Jonny Wilkinson. Venus Williams. Chris Coleman. Paula Radcliffe. Tim Henman. Katherine Grainger. Seb Coe....I like the competitiveness of retired sportspeople.

A big name ex politician like George Osborne or Louise Minchin.

The journalist Janice Turner just because I love her writing. Or maybe India Knight, who seems like a laugh.

NumberEightyOne · 20/11/2017 09:16

I would like more female politicians to do it. Oonagh King would be great.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/11/2017 09:16

YEp Jodie Kidd was on it, she was lovely and nice in the ballroom dances where she could showcase her elegance but in the latins looked a bit like Bambi learning to walk

Don’t think Miranda would do well at it tbh

Agree with the pp about a “wow” moment from a non-dancer - last year it was Ore and Jo with that gorgeous jive

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:16

Jesus Wept, Shirley

That Charleston was amazing - and they danced a RECOGNISEABLE CHARLESTON all the way through - no fannying, faffing or farting about. It was SUPERB!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:18

She didn't talk back - it was really obvious that she was joking at her own expense.

I realised that when I re-wsatched it Ceto - I'd missed the bit about "Glaswegian paso" Grin

ppeatfruit · 20/11/2017 09:18

I don't get the 'it's gone downhill now" I'm enjoying it with all the campuses and weird make up, and mikes that don't work properly. It's live, I think we forget that.

Also aren't the celebs contracted to appear in the tour? Whether they wan to or not? i don't know how Will Young got away last year.Maybe he broke his contract.

ppeatfruit · 20/11/2017 09:20

No spell checker I meant "CAMPNESS" not campuses Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:22

The Daily Mail are now describing Debbie McGee as Paul Daniel's ex-wife. They know exactly what they are doing and they are bloody evil.

That is horrible Eighty-one - she was his wife - and I'm sure that in her heart she still is.

For a show-business marriage it lasted a very long time and was only ended by death. That's rare in the rarified atmosphere of slab-land.

LizzieSiddal · 20/11/2017 09:24

“It’s a workable scheme but it would unbalance Strictly, especially the “I’m donating my fees to charity so the more you vote for me the more they get” aspect.“

I agree, but it wouldn’t stop the egotistic Evans from wanting to try it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:25

I’d quite like to see Nigella Lawson having a go just to see her looking lovely in the frocks.

Oh - I think the wardrobe department would manage to make her look like "Edna the Inebriate Woman" if this series is anything to go by.

TheSassyAssassin · 20/11/2017 09:25

She might be his widow but she's definitely not his ex anything! Hmm

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:28

how about Boris?

The problem with Boris, Sassy, is that he has such over-weening self-regard that he wouldn't feel even minor embarrassment no matter what happened, He'd be another Ed Balls but without the charm.

I want to see the bastards suffer

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:32

But Boris would make a great "genuine" contestant - . . .

Yes. I could go with Boris.

TheSassyAssassin · 20/11/2017 09:36

Honestly Boris would be brilliant...because he really would have no hold on reality (i.e. his technical ability / popular opinion of him) and his waffling back to the judges would have me in stitches! Might join you with the crayons....perhaps a nice red colour Wink

awaynboilyurheid · 20/11/2017 09:39

Shirley Thank you for the Oti Danny Charlston that was great to see again! Will miss Oti now she's out ,it was fast brilliant but not frantic unlike some of the dances this week. I dont know who is voting for Susan but time to stop there was no technique at all to her paseo just stompng about swishing a skirt.Kevin enjoyed it bless him but that made Susan look even poorer.

NumberEightyOne · 20/11/2017 09:43

Exactly Schanden. Imagine losing your beloved dh and then being described as his ex-wife. Why are the tabloids so cruel?

CaveMum · 20/11/2017 09:50

Hasn't there been some ongoing dispute between Debbie and her step-son over Paul's Will? I think that's been buzzing in the tabloid press for some time so her Strictly profile keeps the story going IYSWIM.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 09:50

Boris could do the Jungle Book dance as Baloo the Bear with no special costume whatsoever. I'm warming to this idea more and more.

ppeatfruit · 20/11/2017 09:51

Lovely interview with Gemma on R2 just now. She said that a technician told her she has got " a good one" when she got Aliiaz! He has helped her to stop worrying so she just went for it on Sat.

IMO Katiya is too much about her with her choreography, what was that ridiculous drop lift about? It certainly didn't make Joe look good, it was showy for no reason (and probably hurt her). Grin
