Pashas face is getting rather round isn't it?
He looked so different a few Years ago..

HangryHanderson · 16/11/2017 09:57

evil clone scans much much better.
Ah Pash. Love of a good woman and all that. I remember Brenda getting a few comments a couple of years ago too when his trews were
a bit tight and he had a bit of a tum going - it's the one arena where men seem to be as judged as harshly as the women. I can't look at the pic of AJ though without just going aw look, he's grown some muscles, bless: objectively I know he's fit but I still feel maternal towards him, he's just so baby-faced. The only time I have thought Oh, he's actually attractive was in the photos of the launch - he carried off the tux and scarf combo beautifully.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 10:25

He IS gorgeous but not necessarily gifted in the brain or sensitivity department.

In ITT last night Mollie was already worrying about the lifts they are doing this weekend and he didn't show any sign of not doing them . So that'll be them in the DO again!

HangryHanderson · 16/11/2017 10:43

Potentially - but Charleston usually does well with the viewers. except kirsty gallacher's Most have had lifts though - even Judy Murray's bless had four in it.
AJ could veto them, sure, but Charlestons usually choreoed by someone else.
There are safer ones though - I'd only be able to do the link through the arms and be lifted back to back one with legs kicking (see Judy) but I could do the same to AJ, I think.
Ruth's Charleston was very lift light. Anton semi-lifts her twice. She semi-lifys him once and he does a leapfrog over her. So there are ways round it.
(I do wonder whether that's why he did fox rather than AS. In their goodbye dance he tried to lift her and well, that happened).
I agree with you though - I'd rather no lifts than lifts that look botched, ugly or go wrong (Gemma, Ed Balls, even Aston's salsa). It's also why I would not have given Davood a perfect 10 - one of the lifts looked clumsy/ungainly whether he continued swivelling or not.

HangryHanderson · 16/11/2017 10:48

Another Charleston with barely any lifts in (didn't score fantastically but I liked its vibe). Whoever choreoed did a decent job of disguising the fact that she was heavy to lift.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 10:54

Yes Gemma hates the lifts too. I don't blame them, it's horrible being lifted by someone who's the same size as you, who you don't much like or trust, ( remember from ballet pas de deux classes) Yeuch Shock

Of course the celebs in SCD have had more time to rehearse but still.

Angelalley · 16/11/2017 10:55

i miss Artem

Correction. He lifts her substantially at the end of their AS. Maybe it's the type of lifts with taller/more broad shouldered/muscular women - fast, swingy, gymnastic are harder than slower controlled? Even some of Sophie's were a bit awry (so robbed for not being able to do it again in the finals).
I couldn't do lifts - have no corps, am too heavy and couldn't "help" the pro - am sure I read somewhere there's a way of being lifted where you're actively involved rather than me just standing there like a sack of spuds. I could do an assisted lift off a table maybe

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 11:02

Thanks for that link Hangry That was a good charleston! Aaaah Brucie!

HangryHanderson · 16/11/2017 11:05

Yep. I would definitely have more luck if I lifted the pro. Put me in the Alison/Lisa/Susan category but with very strong back/shoulders...so give me Gio and he can do a backflip off me or something.
Or I could offer him a bum lift. Wink

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 11:10

They were the same size. Artem didn't seem too keen on her but he did well. The lifts weren't too difficult because they used the floor!

Yes you need to 'jump' into them , but if your partner is not strong enough to catch you (or you feel he isn't!) !

I have to go and do some actual work now. But I leave you with Aljaz at 1.22
That's how you do an AS without lifts.
(Lisa did the All that jazz direction but I prefer Alison's. Plus I was dreading the vocals but Hayley(?) nailed it).
Muses whether you could get away with a Paso to Babooshka.

HangryHanderson · 16/11/2017 11:21

Ah thanks peat. Yes, jumping into them is a trust exercise too far. Grin
No, I would just feel guilty at breaking their back or something, it's their career at the end of the day.
Holly and Artem's rapport was a strange one. As was her appearance on the show. I don't recall her having an album out or using it to go onto other things and she was due to marry a millionaire.
She was my favourite contestant though. Mainly because she was so laidback in comparison with Jason.

Horsemad · 16/11/2017 11:25

Love Holly & Artem's AS.

dolfinne · 16/11/2017 12:08

i cant remember Alison and Aljaz that much, but i can imagine they had a right laugh, they both seem like constantly happy upbeat people

RhiannonOHara · 16/11/2017 12:39

Aljaz was lovely with Alison and I got the impression they got on like a house on fire.

I like when a pro gets someone who's a bit of a duffer. It shows their true colours IMO. Aliona's face when she got the retired golfer (mental blank on his name) was a picture; like a stroppy teen. Aljaz on the other hand choreographed inventively and charmingly for Alison and it showed a playful and kind side of him.

Erin, back in the day, softened a lot when she had Peter Schmiechel (sorry for spelling). He was fairly hopeless, but I remember one VT where she said 'He comes in smiling, he gives me 100% all day and he goes home still smiling, and I can't ask for any more than that.' She said it so warmly. I liked her a lot more after that.

Ceto · 16/11/2017 13:35

On the other hand, I can remember Karen Hardy getting really quite unpleasant with one of the slebs - I think it may have been Gary Rhodes.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 15:16

I always have thought Kevin to be ok but now I think he's brilliant because he's taking so much care of Susan.

AJ's "Fantastics" to Mollie don't strike me as sincere. He's in it for himself. IMO.

Sorry Hangry I hardly click on links nowadays because of the security aspect. It's not personal Grin

The80sweregreat · 16/11/2017 15:26

AJ was on ' it takes two' last night and i couldnt get that image out of my head of the dictator that was shown on here a few pages back! If she is in the bottom two this week, i think it may be the end for them.

I like Zoe presenting this show, but i thought that Gethin did a good job last night and it was nice to see a different face with the celebs.
I would love Joe to win the whole thing as he seems really genuine and made a lot of progress.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2017 15:32

Yes I hope Zoe is better today (who said that ITT wasn't live on Wednesdays!!!) .

Joe is sweet but isn't Ore Grin

CaveMum · 16/11/2017 15:41

Zoe tweeted earlier that she is back tonight.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 16/11/2017 15:44

ITT is filmed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays AFAIK, so I assume that Gethin will be on presenting duties again tonight. You can tell by whether or not it’s prefaced by the announcer saying “and now, live from the BBC”. Likewise on the Saturday show they sometimes have a group dance right at the start which is pre-recorded, and then they have the “Live from the BBC!” announcement after that.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 16/11/2017 15:46

Oh - xpost. Dunno what’s happened there then. It seems very unlikely that they’d be able to do a special unplanned Thursday recording out of the blue.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 16/11/2017 15:49

Having read the tweet, she’s actually back tomorrow, which makes sense.
