This was very early on. I get the impression that he would rather have an Anton than an Oti. No disrespect to Anton at all as I would love him as a partner but Anton sees it as an all round experience, making it the best experience for his partner. Oti sounds like she is a bit of a slave driver -Karen and Ola were accused of the same by Will and Steve respectively. If you are keeping all your commitments going to cough Peter Andre switching lights on cough Two hours training is not going to cut it.
in fairness to them I think Debs and Alex are only doing this and AB postponed/sidelined/put album on hold cough mollie didn't cough Charlotte was also overstretched.
I loved Jay but would not have begrudged Kellie because she went all out wrt training despite EE commitments.
that said, Mollie doing 12 hour days produced that??
They used to put the training hour stats on ITT, do they not do that anymore?
I want an Alex, Debs, Joe, Susan final four. I cannot put Gemma in there as I have only liked two of her dances (paso, charleston) and actually much preferred Daisy Lowe in comparison.
Glad some of you liked the DS glossary - I only added one to it, it was written by a DS poster many moons ago, kudos to them.
DOI was binned due to lower audience but mainly binned because Jayne and Chris did not want to do it anymore and were concentrating on Bolero anniversary tour.
Now it is back as they are judges on it but the overall responsibility for overseeing the training is someone else iirc.

RhiannonOHara · 13/11/2017 14:29

Thanks, Hangry. I'm not sure Oti is a slave driver for hoping for more than two hours' practice though! And surely he puts in more time than that in general. But I know what you mean about Anton; I'm sure he makes his partners train hard but they pretty much always seem very relaxed and happy too, and have a lovely time all round. Might be because he usually gets people who are manifestly not going to win/get very far, though; if he was given a ringer one year I wonder if his attitude would change?!

Ceto, it's Alexandra's faux humility that I really dislike about her too. And that fucking teddy bear. Grow up and leave it at home!

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 14:52

I'm intrigued by what people mean by Alexandra's faux humility. She's been called Humblebrag and false but how do you know it's not just her and that she genuinely wants to do well but not appear arrogant at the same time? She can't win, if she reacts excitedly to high scores, she gets told to calm down and that she's annoying. If she has a more restrained reaction, she gets accused of being fake again.

RhiannonOHara · 13/11/2017 14:58

I don't know about others, but I mean the hand to chest, gasping, wide eyes, breathing 'Oh wow, oh gosh, really?' to the judges' gushing comments etc.

Comes across as very very affected.

Summerswallow · 13/11/2017 14:58

Cee I agree with you, as I said above, I think she has a very professional veneer borne of being 'on' on stage for years, but when she reacts in an emotional or more genuine way, like being excited, then people don't like that either. I've a feeling she can't win in how she presents herself, so the best thing for her to do is to be good at dancing and leave it at that. She was criticized for the same on X-Factor which she went on to win, because she was a fantastic singer, so ultimately she does have talents which many on this 'Celebrity' show really don't have (Ruth is lovely, but her talent is being nice and friendly, a reasonable presenter and being married to a complete twat!)

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 15:07

Thank you, I do get that people find her behaviour a OTT or just hyper, which she has admitted to, but I also think no matter how she behaves, she will get criticised for it.

I personally hope she will get to the final but she has every chance of being in a dance off before then.

Redcrayons · 13/11/2017 15:29

It's the 'oh no it's too fast, I'll never do it' then dance like a pro on Saturday that I don't like (Denise van Iuten, Natalie Gumede, Danny from Last year). Although I don't know if AB does this, I hardly watch ITT so only know her from Saturday nights. The wide eyed 'oh gosh was it good?' Seems A bit fake. She knows she's the best.

The ones with previous training who do well have a few duff weeks early doors, have a breakthrough dance, then Be brilliant all the way to the final. (Like Jay, Caroline and Kara).

Redcrayons · 13/11/2017 15:32

*Outen

Inkanta · 13/11/2017 15:37

Yes I understand what what you mean with the 'oh gosh was it good'. She always does do that and it is a bit irritating when she's obviously very good. No one else does it. Debbie doesn't. You'd have thought someone might have a word with her about it.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 16:04

disppearing yes I suppose you're right to an extent, but Ruth actually said on ITT that after doing the steps once she forgets them almost immediately , Anton maybe gets bored/or hasn't the patience with the amount of repetition that the learning of dances needs esp. for older contestants, and Kevin has what is needed. Susan is youngish too!

His sister is a gifted choreography teacher, maybe he's learned it from her!

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 16:32

Sorry if this has been said before. The group dance was better than I expected it to be. The girls' skirts were weird, But it made me cry , the emotions were not OTT just beautifully choreographed.

I love Seal and the song he sang but why don't they turn up the mikes?

Nice to see Tess with her hair up and in plain black (she should have worn with the white bandage dress on Saturday too) WHY does she love those bandage dresses? IMO They do nothing for her. Grin

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 13/11/2017 17:15

Just caught up with sunday’s ep. Ruth looked livid/on the brink of tears when Bruno was telling her not to cock up before her dance off. She can’t be surprised that she was going home, surely? She’s been on borrowed time for a while. Then to get the opening steps wrong on the dance off even with Anton clearly mouthing directions/counting Hmm.

To be fair though, Johnnie didn’t look like he gave a shit though when Claudia & Tessbot were interviewing him pre dance off. Oti just looks fed up.

MrsJamin · 13/11/2017 17:27

Totally agree, johnnie didn't seem to care he was in the dance off! Although he seemed to try harder than the first time, which is odd!

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 17:32

Oti did not se surprised when the red light fell on them.

StrictlyCalmanDancing · 13/11/2017 17:48

I know on dancing that Ruth had to go but by SCD standards I felt like she deserved to stay in more than Jonnie as she'd clearly put effort in, plus was having fun, and Jonnie does seem to have checked out over the past fortnight (and Oti a bit too this week, though there's not much she can do if he has).

I agree with PP that the height difference between Susan and Kevin does hinder them in terms of getting the perfect line. It would be interesting to know if/how it affects their marks or if the judges mark them appreciating the physical impossibility.

Ceto · 13/11/2017 18:07

I thought that Steve whatsit moaned that Ola was a slave driver purely because he knew he wasn't going to get that far anyway and couldn't be bothered. Chris Hollins didn't seem to have a problem and he must have had to put in a hell of a lot of work.

It always amused me with Ola that you could always tell when she reckoned her sleb was in trouble by what she wore: when she got down to not much more than a bikini, you knew she was desperate.

IhaveChillyToes · 13/11/2017 18:28

I felt bad for Ruth on Saturday cos of music Sad

Her Dad had dementia before he died and this was his favourite music so it would have been very emotional for her to dance to it SadSadSad

I am sure the tears that were going down her cheeks that she had upstairs when did first got up there before the scores were read out were deffo real ones SadSadSad

IMHO they were not fake ones at all just real emotion SadSadSad

I know it was probably her time or nearly her time to leave although I would have liked her last dance to be in Blackpool

Never been there myself just seen it on strictly and on "4 in a bed" on channel 4 - the Blackpool B&B nearly always come last so finding nice accommodation there must be tricky HmmHmmHmm

SoupDragon · 13/11/2017 18:37

Oti had the grumpiest face imaginable when waiting for the red light of doom.

blueskyinmarch · 13/11/2017 19:00

Confirmed by Kevin on ITT. It’s the Strictly Ballroom paso on Saturday!

Longtime · 13/11/2017 19:01

Duck, I thought Bruno was very rude to Ruth. He was laughing at her and offered no constructive advice other than not to cock up.

SingingTunelessly · 13/11/2017 19:18

Longtime, I agree about Bruno. It was quite shocking when he was asked to give advice and said something about 'it's not Ascot' and was smirking. Most of the judges try and give some helpful tips even to the hopeless contestants.

IhaveChillyToes · 13/11/2017 19:26

Totally agree about Bruno

He was really horrible to Ruth AngrySadAngry

He could have just said something like "keep your hand shape like xxxxxxxx" or something that she could try to do

Even if he wanted her to be out it was supposed to be a comment of something to try to improve in a positive way

Inkanta · 13/11/2017 19:32

Yes Bruno was rude. Thought Ruth looked generally cross before he said that though - and ashen in colour. Maybe tired. Or upset the public had not saved her.

scrabbler3 · 13/11/2017 19:45

Yes, I thought that Bruno was very flippant and won't have enhanced Ruth's confidence with those comments.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2017 20:36

I always thought that Bruno was a twat, but an amiable twat.

Now I think he has a mean streak a mile wide. He was unnecessarily cruel.
