Whoever KFG is partnered with, he teaches them to dance, while Anton plays for laughs.

I don't really agree with this. Anton gets Duffers year after year and I think he works to bring out their best and disguise their faults. Was it last year one of the pros did a whole load of fancy stuff in a Latin dance whilst their female celeb wafted their arms about a bit?

SoupDragon · 13/11/2017 09:07

When you look at Ruth vs Susan it’s also a question of how much they’re willing and able to train.

Also, I think some people just aren't natural dancers (I'm not!). I'm thinking of Judy Murray - I'm sure she is the sort of person to put in as much training as she possibly could but she never relaxed. I think she said that she didn't feel stiff when she was dancing. Is she doing Christmas? It will be interesting to see if she's learnt how to relax.

Horsemad · 13/11/2017 09:23

Loved seeing Mark & Karen's dances again, they looked so good together.

The DS Dance Glossary made me laugh, Hangry Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2017 09:54

I don't think enough of the public will vote for alexandra or Debbie enough to get them to win, as the judges have no sway in the final.

But unless these two end up in a dance off against each other, there is NO WAY the judges would put wither of them out (and tbh, if it worked out that they were both in a dance off, I think there would be some "creative accountancy" done with the figures.

I used to like Debbeh- but now I don't. There's an entitlement to her somehow that I find unpleasant. I've never warmed to AB. Both of them have "shared eyes", as a pointed out, and are ever-so-humble ("Oh, Little Me? You really, really liked it? Thank you soooo much judges!")

I'm finding sickening.

HaHaHmm · 13/11/2017 09:57

Very late to these threads and apologies if this has been discussed before....

A friend of mine is very active on the FB strictly posts so they keep popping up on my newsfeed. People are losing their shit about the perceived inconsistencies in marking. I wonder if they need to introduce some sort of difficulty tariff on the choreography, the way they do in competitive diving? It can’t be fair to compare directly something like Alexandra’s Argentine tango with the relative simplicity of others. It would make it more transparent that Debbie therefore got 8s and 9s despite mistakes because (I assume) she attempted more difficult choreography...?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2017 10:00

*shark eyes, not shared eyes (though that would be interesting . . . Grin)

awaynboilyurheid · 13/11/2017 10:01

I don't think Debbie is that likeable a person but she really is a fabulous dancer, so glad Ruth went out at last, she couldn't dance and she is just so so smug with Mr smug in the audience. I couldn't stand their travel programmes on tv where they feigned surprise in hotel rooms that their was a tv in the bathroom or travelled first class and pretended it hadn't happened before. Patronising at its worst.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2017 10:05

You may be right, but a lot of the dances seem to bear little resemblance to what they are supposed to be nowadays HaHa - when this show first started they were penalised for lifts in dances that didn't allow them, they had to incorporate particular steps at least once etc - now it seems to be anything goes, and the only way you can tell what dance it is is by the frocks the girls are wearing (not even then sometimes

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 13/11/2017 10:12

There should be four people in the final - three if we have a casualty between now and then. I agree that the judges will probably put Alex or Debbie through in most dance-off scenarios, and put them higher on the leader board so they’re less likely to be in the dance-off because Shock they’re very good dancers. So they’re likely to both be in the final. But at that point it’s entirely up to the voters and the third/fourth contestants, who will probably have got there on the strength of the popular vote, will be the bookies’ faves.

augustusglupe · 13/11/2017 10:23

awaynboilyurheid I know, I actually like Debbie very much, love her dancing and I like that fire in her anyway...shark eyes or not..Hmm
I can’t warm to Ruth one bit, I feel she never loosened up and got out of the ‘day job’. It’s almost like a ‘Stepford’ TV presenter mode she’s in and can’t get out of it. Agree about the other TV show where they went round the world...like I’d want a Gold plated living room Grin Nice that they have their millions of followers, but I’m not one.

blueskyinmarch · 13/11/2017 10:28

I would like a Debbie, Alexandra, Joe and Davood final. I like to watch Alex and Debbie dance but i like someone who has really had a 'journey ' to win so Joe would get my vote.

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 10:48

Both Alex and Debbie are getting a some really horrible comments on social media,
more so than on here. Even when the original post is about another dancer, they are somehow blamed for somebody else's low marks, because it is somehow fixed for either AB or DM to win.

If it's mostly up to the public to vote then I don't think either of them are in any danger of winning. I still enjoy watching Gorka them dance and can't fault AB's determination and work ethic. I'm a bit Confused about the shark eyes comments.

I'm pleased that Davood was top of the leaderboard on Saturday and it shows last week's dance wasn't just a fluke.

I'm rooting for Joe to win but it would be good to see Davood in the final too.

FuzzyCustard · 13/11/2017 11:31

I notice Debbeh on "Celebrity Chase" yesterday. Is she desperate for cash or exposure? (Also Duncan from Blue was on it and bless him, he was a bit "I DON'T KNOW THAT" to almost every question, but Martin thingy from Homes under the Hammer knew lots!)

Martin Thingy on SCD next year?

reachforthestarseveryday · 13/11/2017 11:38

I notice Debbeh on "Celebrity Chase" yesterday. Is she desperate for cash or exposure?

Well, it was raising money for charity...

Maybe she's bored/lonely/wants the money/attention/enjoys doing TV shows? She was on prime-time TV for years so she must enjoy it.

I didn't know Martin from HUTH but he weans't very good at the final chanse - only answered a couple of questions. Duncan from Blue was lucky with his questions...

Do you thin they make questions easier for celebs? I noticed there was a question about Iran and one about ballet, both of which Debbie answered...

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 11:41

I love The Chase too but don't always watch it. I saw a celebrity episode last week with Shaun Williamson (Barry fro Eastenders) on it and he was phenomenal. He should be a chaser himself!

CeeBeeBee · 13/11/2017 11:44

I don't. blame Debbie for wanting to occupy herself with appearances on TV shows.

Some of the question celebrity chase do seem easier than normal but when Shaun Williamson was in, he answered some obscure ones.

ptumbi · 13/11/2017 12:30

She was on Celebrity Masterchef too. I still don't like her!

RhiannonOHara · 13/11/2017 12:33

Kind of sad to see Ruth go; I liked her and Anton. She was very gracious in her loser's speech.

Do Jonnie and Oti not get on? She almost snapped at him in the to-camera comments bit at the end.

He looks like he's had enough/can't be arsed/both. I also wish they'd put him in a proper suit and suggest he puts his hair up.

Loved Claudia's outfit; really fresh and different. Tess looked a bit going-to-the-Oscars –not exactly overdressed but slightly wrongly dressed.

I am dreading and dying to see Kevin's dream paso in about equal measure. Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2017 12:42

I suspect that Oti is fed up with Jonnie's work ethic (if what is reported on social media is even half true)

She's hard-working and determined, and expects a degree of professionalism and dedication from her partners, which it seems she isn't getting from Jonnie.

Even when she has a hard-working partner she can be fierce! Grin

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2017 12:46

Shaun Williamson has also been on Pointless twice. he loves quizzes. My dream job is to be a Chaser!

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2017 12:52

I just want the final to have good dancers in it so I can relax and enjoy it. Both Joe and Susan are from virtually the same road as me but even I can be impartial and think others are better...

I love watching Alex dance and love her work ethic. I think that's true role modelling for young women. I am full of admiration for Debbie's stamina but am a bit fed up of seeing her crotch!

I think Joe is good but not winner good. I can't see this 'bags of personality' to be honest. I prefer Davood's energy .

Drinaballerina · 13/11/2017 12:52

Maybe they should have 2 marks (like DOI if I remember correctly) - technical and presentation. I can't get too worked up about it, it's only entertainment but that's only because none of my faves have gone yet.
Roll on next week, I may watch ITT for some hints for KFG paso!

RhiannonOHara · 13/11/2017 12:58

Quite weird if Jonnie is lazy/late to training, really. Most sports people on Strictly seem to have very good work ethics.

I haven't read any of this stuff about his behaviour though. Where is it to be found?

Summerswallow · 13/11/2017 14:02

Alexandra is growing on me. I think often performers who perform a lot (Debbie, Alexandra, Aston to some extent) come over very stagey and not that natural in the VTs, and it's only over time you see glimpses of their more natural personalities. Mollie showed that on Sat and it paid off for her, you could see she was upset having tried so hard by that quite unfair marking, and the viewer felt for her. It's their professional veneer that makes them harder to like- although individually I think both Debbie and Alexandra have come on a journey (if that's your criterion for liking anyone)- Debbie back towards her past work and to stretch out beyond ballet and Alexandra is mainly a singer who has to dance, but again, is having to train incredibly hard to do so. If they were both ringers and were both finding it easy and didn't bother training so much, then the criticism might be founded, but they seem to work harder than some of the less naturally talented stars, probably as they have a huge work ethic developed in the industry and training hard is paying off for them. But they are hardly sitting on their laurels and just trotting round the studio twice a week, so I don't quite get the disdain for them. Mollie has the worst of all worlds really, she trains incredibly hard but isn't that good, hence the tears.

Ceto · 13/11/2017 14:06

I didn't like Debbie much before this, but I like her more now. I guess it's that she clearly puts an awful lot of work in, is having a whale of a time with Giovanni (and actually makes the effort to pronounce his name properly) and does produce some beautiful dances. It just seems such a shame that she doesn't have her husband to cheer her on and be proud of her.

I mostly find Alexandra's dancing pretty boring, and her faux humility is getting right up my nose.
