Here's the Salsa:

Well if you compare Susan to professional dancer Debbie, theatre star Alexandra then yes she’s crap! If you value her contribution & journey Grin then she’s great!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 12/11/2017 22:16

Susan is not a great dancer but she’s normally better than Ruth and Johnnie and certainly was better than them this week so I think she’s fine to stay in for a little while. This week I reckon she also did a better job that Mollie. Most weeks Susan’s the worse of the two but if Mollie goes out first it’s not like we’re going to lose a potential champion.

AppleKatie · 12/11/2017 22:17

Susan may be crap but she's funny, a lovely person, and has been talking for years about being able to go on strictly one day. She's genuinely trying and wants to be there even though she's got zero natural ability. Which makes her my favourite!

Although back in the real world she's obviously not going to win so Joe for the win for me. I agree Debbie and Alexandra are both hard as nails with shark eyes to boot. Horrible.

OublietteBravo · 12/11/2017 22:19

I guess they'll all want to avoid the Foxtrot like the plague - since 3 out of the last 4 DO contestants ended up there with Foxtrot.

callmeadoctor · 12/11/2017 22:19

Just watched Mark and Karens AT, just oozed sex appeal. Alex and Gorka just missed that for me.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 12/11/2017 22:20

Mark Ramprakash was lovely but I think he did get a lot of votes and marks for sheer gorgeousness. He doesn’t do a lot in his legendary AT, but he does smoulder very nicely.

feebeemee · 12/11/2017 22:21

@CaveMum I forgot how much I loved Mark & Karen's dances, thanks for the clips. Also, I miss Brucie but not his jokes

ImListening · 12/11/2017 22:32

I don’t mind who wins as long as it isn’t Alexandra or Debbie.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/11/2017 22:59

Brilliant Hangry

(How did you do your footnotes?)

The80sweregreat · 13/11/2017 06:56

apple, Debbie does have those ' shark eyes' - lots of people around like it though! I have a feeling she is going to win it all though - not sure why and I know nothing about dancing ( despite watching this show for years and ITT as well!) but i think she is popular.
On one hand though, it would be good to see an older person lift the trophy too. I have enjoyed all the dances , but Davood's one on saturday was so entertaining and I also like Joe. It really is such good weekend entertainment and so well produced. Bring on Blackpool!

SoupDragon · 13/11/2017 07:13

but she is crap at dancing....?!

Strictly isn't a "best d car" competition though. Each week you are asked to fpvote for your favourite, notthenest dancer. I vote for the ones who have entertained me the most or for one I think just had a bad week. let's face it, the vast majority of the audience have no idea about heel leads and an assortment of things I can't remember or spell. They're just voting for the one they've enjoyed.

Last season I enjoyed Ed far more than some of the better dancers as he was clearly enjoying it and throwing himself into it with everything he had.

MsLumley · 13/11/2017 07:13

A Joe, Davood and Gemma final would be my perfect line-up. Can't stand Debbie or Alex.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2017 07:13

D car is dancer.

MrsJamin · 13/11/2017 07:19

I'd be happy with any of Joe, davood, Susan or gemma to win. It's pretty much a popularity contest where they dance a bit. I don't think enough of the public will vote for alexandra or Debbie enough to get them to win, as the judges have no sway in the final.

Pumpkini · 13/11/2017 07:39

Continue to be delighted Joe has done so well - and that people like him. My worry was that he would have a bad week 3 or something and he would be a bit of an unknown and consequently not get any votes. But I suppose lots of people do watch Holby??? Can't say I ever have but I swooned at him in Take the Highroad (loved that show Blush).

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 08:00

Marking my place. I know late Grin The thing with Susan is that she CAN dance, (her physique hold her back a bit) but she learns the steps and does them , better than Ruth, who was ready to go IMO.

I like Ruth , I thought she was sweet, esp. when, with Claud, Sue gave her a consoling ,low down, cuddle and then Ruth really gave her a proper cuddle.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 08:02

soup 'D car' LOL!!!

Summerswallow · 13/11/2017 08:19

Susan's footwork is pretty good for a beginner, it's her physique that makes it hard to get close to Kevin and get the right lines, as well as the height difference. They are fun to watch though, hope she stays in longer.

I still love Debbie but I don't love over-marking and I wish they wouldn't do it as it puts people off her when there's no need given they are good dances, just not perfect.

disappearingninepatch · 13/11/2017 08:21

ppeatfruit I think the difference is also in the approach their partners took. Whoever KFG is partnered with, he teaches them to dance, while Anton plays for laughs.

FuzzyCustard · 13/11/2017 08:33

@hangryhanderson I LOVE your dance summary. It has made everything clear! Thank you.

Ceto · 13/11/2017 08:45

Does anyone know why Neil Jones doesn't have a partner this year?

Isn't it mostly because none of the male professionals left?

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 13/11/2017 08:49

When you look at Ruth vs Susan it’s also a question of how much they’re willing and able to train. Susan is 15 years younger than Ruth, physically fit and clearly totally dedicated to working as hard as she can. (yes I know Debbie is older than Ruth but she’s exceptional).

Ruth either physically couldn’t do the same level of drilling in footwork that Susan has or she could but actually wouldn’t enjoy it so what’s the point. This is not a criticism of Ruth - if she doesn’t want to bring herself to breaking point for the sake of a light entertainment show then that’s entirely understandable.
