All the 'this is the most perilous situation there's ever been in 8 years of Bake Off', 'this is the toughest decision I've had to make in 8 years of Bake Off', 'Coming up is the most dramatic moment there's ever been in 8 years of Bake Off' I found a bit desperate to attempt. Let the viewer decide if they think it's dramatic.

Stop trying so hard to tell us that this is the most exciting series there'd ever been with the most talented group of contestants. It clearly wasn't and they clearly ween't.

Speaking of the pursuit of fame - have we all heard about the lovely Candice —and her lipstick—? Just announced in the line up for Dancing on Ice!

Yes Squoosh it sounded very fake to me. I don't know why Paul didn't 'suggest' to the directors\editors, whoever, that it wasn't a good idea to spout nonsense. I'd 've though that he 's in a good enough position to make them think twice..

SDTG Could you give me a good reason to get into DOI? I find the ITV's 'me too', programmes hard to enjoy, the hysteria annoys me.

DOI was tosh but passed the time amiably enough in January if there’s nothing else on. They usually cast at least one mega ringer who can be relied upon to do a wow number each week.

But frankly the only reason I really watched it was because Monkseal’s recaps produces the narrative drive and professional dancer personae that the show itself lacked. If he’s not recapping it then I CBA to watch it.

Steven isn't gay! He's married with two children. I mean, I know that doesn't mean he definitely isn't gay but he's not out if he is gay.
I think the right person won although I wanted Steven to win earlier in the series, he went to pieces a bit in the later episodes.

The best person won imho! Cool, calm, collected, non-dramatic Sophie was a worthy winner in my book.

I thought it was a good, solid final with no outright favourite. Roll on next year.

But.....how the jeff are we supposed to cope without our weekly eyeful of Noel? .

Agree bugger Sophie did change from cool a bit in the final though with her yoga position by the oven! She's human after all ! I'm looking forward to Extra Slice tomorrow ( I'll record it tonight )

I’m happy Sophie won... I managed to avoid Prue’s mishap too. Overall not a bad start to the first C4 series, there’s teething troubles but they can be improved!

I always feel bad that 2nd and 3rd get less attention than 4th. It was interesting when they looked back at Kate’s time she had some really amazing weeks and some really awful ones.
Stephen’s cake at the end was second only to the one they made for Liam. I really think the more popular contestants got the best cakes.

I recorded ES and will watch as a treat for doing the washing up!

The 'Your bakes' section of the GBBO website is worth a look.

Found extra slice kinda anticlimactic this week - though I must admit I laughed at the attempt to make Stacey seem 'nicer' by seating her with Liam!

The 'your bakes' pics cheer me up, I'm an OK baker nothing wonderful but I cannot decorate to save my life! I can do a basic royal with feathering but beyond that nah!

I've said it before, but I was not at ALL sure about Noel Fielding, but I was wrong - I admire the way he has been funny and engaging but without trying to be the centre of attention - both he and Sandy were very good at keeping the bakers as the centre of the show (I think Mel and Sue did that very well too - and I do still miss Sue).

I read somewhere that when contestants got upset and crie from frustration or whatever, Mel & Sue would stand beside them and use lots of unbroadcastable language to ensure that any footage of it could not be used.

I am another who thought GBBO would be ruined by the change in line up and I am delighted to acknowledge I was wrong. Sandy and Noel have been really good.

Did anyone else notice on Extra Slice that Steven said during the final he knew he was messing up and got so upset he left the tent at one point and Sandy went to him and calmed him down and brought him back.

ES was great , I'm going to miss GBBO and ES. Not sure about the 2 nearly unknown guests , though. I often wonder why they bother with them.
