Oooohhh fess up....who is Monkseal among us?

Monkseal has posted on here once as Monkseal. I know because he replied to a question I had about what he meant by "Year of the Man"

It was possibly the most exciting moment in my MN posting history.

bonfireheart · 07/11/2017 20:21

Wasn't then pakour comment mentioned on the show by Craig?

dolfinne · 07/11/2017 20:25

was the past pro James Jordan by any chance , i watched a facebook video of him and Ola and he was saying he thinks Debbie will win and the producers really want a woman to win this year

bonfireheart · 07/11/2017 20:31

James Jordan is so bitter and just trying to keep himself relevant. I might be less cynical but I don't think there's a conspiracy theory over the winner. And I don't see why having a woman win would benefit the producers. I would think having the first paralympian winner would be a 'bigger' story.

dolfinne · 07/11/2017 21:53

he does always seem bitter, apparently it was his decision to leave but he is always all over the media talking about strictly

I have only seen him pop up once on here, probably for the best, I am a complete Stan with regard to his blog. Or a Judy. I make no secret of it, he is the only person other than my DP who makes me laugh like that. I've never seen him use other people's comments without referring to it though (my proudest moment: He used Gloti. I was happy for days). I am very sad indeed
He is on Digital Spy fairly often call me Annie Wilkes and whilst I often comment on his blog, I haven't yet as I am saving it to go with a Brew once my middle one has dropped off.
If he is here covertly... thanks again for getting me through the Winter < runs up to Debs, nicks Shirl's Crown and announces Chris as Queen Of Bloggin> whilst throwing myself at his feet Craig-style. Actually I don't think I can go down like Craig.Wink
in the meantime here are the songs for this Saturday...

Alexandra and Gorka will dance the Argentine Tango to Mi Confession by Gotan Project
Debbie and Giovanni Salsa to I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You by Boys Town Gang
Gemma and Aljaz perform the Viennese Waltz to You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me by Brenda Lee
Mollie and AJ Paso to Layla by Derek and the Dominoes
Ruth and Anton will Foxtrot to Mack The Knife by Bobby Darin
Susan and Kevin will dance the Tango to Firework by Katy Perry
Davood and Nadiya Charleston to The Lambeth Walk by The Pasadena Roof Orchestra
Joe and Katya dance the Rumba to One by U2 and Mary J. Blige
Jonnie and Oti return to Ballroom with a Foxtrot to Someone Like You by Adele

Glitterball

Hmm. Poor tango music there. Plus - and I love Prince - but why didn't they do a group dance to Firework on, you know, Bonfire Night?!
The Lambeth Walk, just no. That had Brian written all over it. Plus, if you really have to use it, save it for musicals week.
And I like Mack The Knife, I really do but I can't help but go all Sliding doors (step and movie) as I think Oti should have used it for Danny's AS, not changed any QS choreo and deployed Misty Blue as their freestyle. I love Gotan Project (cue Alex unfair to have decent music jibes) but Mary J Bilge can do one.
Based on music only Susan vs Davood, oi!

HangryHanderson · 07/11/2017 22:28

I thought James was let go and put it down to an early boot with Vanessa/Ola later with her early boot with Iwan. or the fact they were badmouthing/planting stories in the press
The early booting having me worry for Pash. Then I remembered Janette getting a ringer this year after winning Xmas and thought
a) maybe Pash can win Xmas although I am rooting for Judy because Neil
b) Pasha absolutely deserves a ringer next series
In other news, Ola's autobiography is on kindles now for less than four quid Grin

CaveMum · 08/11/2017 06:42

So glad to see some "proper" music being used this week (Gotan Project, Bobby Darin, etc). I always thing of "Someone Like You" as a Rumba so will be interesting to see how it works as a Foxtrot.

I wouldn't be surprised if Monkseal lurks on here. People often post links to the Blog on here and a good Blogger will look at the stats of where their traffic is coming from so MN probably features quite highly in terms of the number of clicks through.

BalloonSlayer · 08/11/2017 07:16

Are James and Ola still together?

I remember an episode of Strictly when it was their anniversary and they were given a surprise card/present/cake/can't remember live and they both looked pig-sick about it, really awkward. I thought, oh dear . . . Sad

SoupDragon · 08/11/2017 07:22

I've just rewatched the judges scoring for Jonnie and Shirley was right, it was her turn to comment. Tess confirmed this. Craig doesn't mention parkour though, which is what I went to look for.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 08/11/2017 07:35

James and Ola are turning on the Christmas lights at the Belfry shopping centre in Redhill this year. I'm not making any comment about the difference in profile from Saturday night BBC1 prime time to Redhill shopping centre Wink.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 08/11/2017 07:41

James and Ola are very much still together based on the ghastly posters for their tour in which they’re wrapped around each other apparently naked. There were rumours about why they might have been a bit off with each other a few years ago though…

NumberEightyOne · 08/11/2017 07:44

The Jordan's are dreadful. They are doing a tour which I imagine will mainly comprise of Ola dancing like a stripper and wearing barely anything. She does a racy calender every year. I get the feeling that a lot of her sexy image is his idea not hers.

SoupDragon · 08/11/2017 07:45

Redhill is probably the right level of Christmas lights :)

NumberEightyOne · 08/11/2017 07:47

The tour is called 'Uncensored. It's hot, dirty and dancing.

Not perhaps something to take the kids or your grandmother to.

Raisedbyguineapigs · 08/11/2017 08:19

I do get the feeling with the Jordan's that James has burnt all their bridges by being an obnoxious test so now Olas stuck doing half naked dancing with him instead of doing Strictly.

morningtoncrescent62 · 08/11/2017 09:36

I keep watching the VW of Jodie and Ian that HangryHanderson kindly identified and posted for me. I absolutely love it - and it's joined my list of favourite 5 strictly dances of all time. Thing is, I can't quite see why. It's certainly not the 'best', or most original, or most beautifully-executed VW or anything, and objectively I can't see anything that stands out about it, but for some reason I find it completely captivating.

Does anyone else have a favourite dance that on the face of it is good but not astoundingly good?

RhiannonOHara · 08/11/2017 09:57

Shirley was right, it was her turn to comment.
I thought Shirley tried to tell Tess it WASN'T her turn, so it would have gone Craig –Darce – Bruno – Shirley? I was Confused about it because of course the order is Craig –Darce – Shirley – Bruno.

[need a life]

MrsJayy · 08/11/2017 09:58

The jordans were the face/bodies of Anne summers last year Classy. Ola was totally lovely on im a celeb I expected her to be lazy and divaish he on the otherhand is an arsehole.

RhiannonOHara · 08/11/2017 09:59

morning, I really love Mark and Karen's samba to 'I Go To Rio'. Not the most amazing technically, and not showy compared to most of the dances these days, but I loved the song and the choreography and they both had a ball dancing it.

BlessedBeTheFruit · 08/11/2017 10:20

I've just discovered that James Jordan does his own judging and scoring on Twitter...

AmericanPastoral · 08/11/2017 12:30

I remember when Brian Fortuna was on Strictly - back in the day. He was new to the show and was asked by Claudia on ITT how he had settled in, had he been welcomed by the other pros. He mentioned that the Jordans had gone out of their way to be friendly and had invited him to their place for dinner.

There was another time when some pros went to visit some veterans around Remembrance Day. Kristina and Ola were among the female pros to be shown chatting to the old soldiers. You could tell Kristina was just going through the motions but Ola appeared to be totally concentrated on the veterans she was chatting to.

It's always seemed to me that they are genuinely close. It has appeared in recent years that James is pimping out his wife - promoting her racy calendars on Twitter etc.

That Monkseal blog had me laughing so loud I was heard down the corridor at work (pretending to be busy)

HangryHanderson · 08/11/2017 17:29

oh morning I am pleased you are pleased, out of curiosity, what are your other four favourites?
my favourites which I liked but were not top of the leaderboard:
Wuthering smooth - a billowing Alison and Aljaz in breeches
Foxtrot - Cherie and James (it got 33 so was good but not necessarily iconic)
Cha cha cha - Judge and Oksana (I sat on my sofa squealing)
Jive - Holly and Artem (still love it, it had such a cool vibe and she did brilliantly given her braces broke)
Viennese - Sunetra and Brenda (anyone who had a heart so I have posted when Mollie danced to same song)

Actually having found it to post, Cherie's foxtrot was week one and top of the leaderboard Blush so in actual fact doesn't count as one under the radar!
