There’s a fair chance that Craig’s 4 did for Aston. If he’d given an entirely defensible 6 then Aston would have been above Gemma and level with Johnnie (and Mollie but that’s irrelevant). Reasonably possible that that would have landed someone else in the dance-off.

We’ll never know, but OTOH we don’t know how many people who did vote for him only did it because they saw him in danger and wouldn’t have done it if he’d been a bit higher up - still leaving him screwed. When push comes to shove, people knew that Ruth, Aston, Gemma, Susan and Johnnie needed votes. Enough people picked up the phone for 4 of them but not Aston.

i think that Shirley needs to go. She knows her craft , but is just not suited to the programme. It’s a shame as I had high hopes for her.
The BBC should bring Karen Hardy in for the next series .

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/11/2017 16:26

I forgot about Joe and Katya. I LOVED their Charleston.

Yes, I did too, and I don't often like charlestons. Were they intentionally channelling the Trumpton intro at the beginning, because that's what it reminded me of!

I'm enjoying Shirley, mostly although I could do with her remembering that the show broadcasts to all the home nations, not just England. I quite like the little technical things she throws in (butterflies in hobnail boots) and all the judges can all score a bit weirdly at times, she's certainly not alone in that. I prefer her to Darcy and Bruno by miles. However, I still miss Arlene - for me, Shirley's like Arlene but without the biting sarcasm. I would love Karen Hardy as head judge.

mydogisthebest · 06/11/2017 17:37

I like Shirley. She gives good constructive comments and I am learning more from her explanations and tips than I have in all the other series.

Darcey drives me mad. The faces she pulls at Craig are boring now. We all know he marks low on the whole we don't need her silly faces. Also what is with the standing up when giving a 10 this year with her?

I thought Darcey made a fool of herself on the results show. She stuttered and stammered her pathetic explanation of why she wanted to save Aston. She did at least look embarrassed to be lying though

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 17:43

dolphinne I relied on the kindness of strangers on youtube last year although my favourite pro Vitali didn't win. Curtis look so similar to AJ but was knocked out fairly early iirc. there is a channel but I am blocked from it, you might be luckier.

I saw that on isnstagram too and don’t find it especially sincere!

SoupDragon · 06/11/2017 18:26

SYTYCD so you think you can dance

Thank you :)

MrsJayy · 06/11/2017 18:39

Janette is emotional on IT2 which i am now hooked on Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/11/2017 18:52

I wish they would go back to dances without any 'extras' or an elaborate story/forcing the dance to meet a theme.

So do I Campervan. And two dances a week so we could properly compare - and that way the newbies to dance would have a chance to start with a comparatively simple one, instead of being thrown in at the deep end because the producers want umpteen different dances on a single night!

And get rid of the bloody awful VTs!!!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/11/2017 18:55

I still miss Arlene

Same here - I loved Arlene - she took no prisoners, and she had no favourites.

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 19:23

Ooh but didn't Arlene do a lot of cougar flirting with the male slebs eye-candy? So not favouritism per se but awk-ward at times. (I know the women get told how pretty they look but, sitting next to Bruno aside, it doesn't come across as too pervy) except Len about an eyeful of Anastacia once...

dementedma · 06/11/2017 19:46

Joe is good and getting better. Seems very likeable and is creeping up the board unnoticed. Charleston was excellent, spider routine during Halloween was great, and his Paso excellent. Not sure how he will fare in the Rumba next week

ScaryMonstersAndSuoerCreeps · 06/11/2017 20:45

Apologies for the DM link...
Christmas SpecialNeil Jones has Judy Murray!!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 06/11/2017 20:56

Arlene was just awful towards the end. Dreadful leching over the young men and those clunking prescripted lines full of alliteration. She added nothing. Alesha wasn’t a dance expert but at least she occasionally responded in a natural and spontaneous way to what she saw.

I’ll make an honourable exception for that time Arlene channeled EvilWillow and just said “Bored now!” I can’t even remember who the comedy contestant was who bore the brunt of that one. Possibly Fiona Phillips?

The80sweregreat · 06/11/2017 21:23

I like joe. He is my favourite now Aston has gone. Alexandra is also good but I have a feeling she won’t make the final. Aston looked so upset on it takes two. But that’s life and he’ll be a dad soon. That’s much more important.

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 21:26

Yes, I love that Partnership.

Alternatively Pasha to win even though Kimbot is my least favourite sleb from that list.
Or Katie as my second favourite sleb even though it will be a ballroom-by-numbers from Brenda

Judy>Katie>Colin>Robbie>Jeremy>Kimbot
Neil>Pasha>Dianne>Brendan>Amy>Karen>

The six couples will each perform a routine which tells the story of what everyone loves about Christmas

Ooh I'll bite! Given that I can't think of a Terry's chocolate orange themed dance, I'll go for...

Trimming the tree (Rocking around the Xmas tree) - QS - Colin
Mistletoe and Wine Cliff - waltz - Judy
Presents (Wrap her up) - CCC - Kimbot
Snow (Let it snow/White Xmas) - AS - Katie
Eating Karen (Food glorious food) - VW - Jeremy
Santa (Claus is coming to town) - jive - Robbie

I'd give it Pash/Kim based on that.
Bear in mind I get tempos mixed up so dances might not be appropriate and Colin's done it before so would need to see what he did last time.

Now me, personally, I'd be doing ''I love all the Xmas rows'' as my theme and would do my swinging freestyle dance to The Pogues.

MrsJayy · 06/11/2017 21:31

Totally80s his baby will be here soon and strictly will be forgotten he actually came across a bit spoiled bratty tonight

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 21:32

Sorry, above in excitement for Xmas special. If you do not want to click through (I did thx scary Flowers) the couples are:
Colin, Amy
Judy, Neil
Kim, Pash
Katie, Brenda
Jeremy, Karen
Robbie, Dianne

The80sweregreat · 06/11/2017 21:33

Yes. Let’s hope he concentrates on being a dad and puts it all behind him. It’s only a well paid reality show after all.

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 21:49

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictly_Come_Dancing_Christmas_Specials

Rocking round the Xmas tree - used and won by Jill, jive and used by Kelly Brook
Let it snow! - used by Colin for a CCC and Lisa for a QS
OMG! Colin won with I get a kick out of you! this will be his THIRD Xmas special!! Was Jason Donovan not available?!
White Xmas used by Aleesha for a VW, that could be one for Katie? but also used by Su Pollard foxtrot and Bobby Ball AS and Soph for an AS
Santa Claus is coming to town - used and won by Darren (he's done two specials) for an AS and used and won by Charlie Brooks jive and used by RochelleSaturday for a salsa and by Tom for a charleston

Ah, rocking around the Xmas tree also used last year - Ainsley - jive

blimey! I had no idea there had been so much recycling.
And sadly not sure they'll use Wrap her up (I love that song) as they can recycle Xmas wrapping (although tbh wrapping is NOT something I love about Xmas. Hate it, hate it, hate it).

TheweewitchRoz · 06/11/2017 21:55

I’m actually really liking Shirley - her explanations & advice make a lot of sense & she definitely knows her stuff. Darcy comes across to me as full of her own importance, so she really irritates me!

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 21:56

totally forgotten this ever existed!

This would still beat it though (but I adore George Michael)

HangryHanderson · 06/11/2017 22:01
Adore him! Tardis He's in panto in Manchester and I am having a big sulk cos I can't go.
