Aston was the third contender Janette has had and she has blown it each time. Peter Andre, Jake Wood and now Aston. She doesn't deserve a decent partner

Regardless of whether or not Giovanni is a creep, I still think his relationship with Debbie seems unaffected and affectionate.

I remember when she found out she had got him, she made some really arch response about his sense of humour.

I get the impression that they've both had a pleasant surprise.

MargotMoon I think overall Janette is a good choreographer but she misjudged it this week and paid the price. She's not a hugely experienced Ballroom dancer - she is a Salsa dancer who didn't start studying Ballroom till she went to college, a huge disadvantage when you think most top Ballroom/Latin Pros start dancing the style as small children.

But I was right about that VW, that effed it for poor Aston. She might 've said it was her fault but I definitely heard him say it was HIS fault , NO JANETTE IT WAS YOUR FAULT. Though there may have been a choreographer involved , who knows, the Jackson 5 concept , and the music, was all wrong too for the VW.

Margot. Hatred is a not strong. WRT Julian McDonald, they were saved in the dance off and she behaved in a really rude and disrespectful manner, shrieking and screaming with delight and jumping up and down. Most unseemly

But doesn't the show have other choreographers working on it who help the pros out? Thingy thanked the charleston choreographer so Katya clearly didn't pen that whole routine herself. So why doesn't Jeanette farm out the ballroom?

To loose one contender might be unfortunate. Two a catastrophe, but three?!! Feel really bad for her cos I do like her. Maybe she's just had a run of bad luck.

The Pros are only given outside help, if they need it, for Charleston, Salsa and Argentine Tango as they are non-traditional dances. They help each other out a bit as they get voted off but when it comes to the 10 core dances they're expected to know their stuff and get on with it.

He didn't deserve a 4 from Craig. That's what did for him. In the end Shirley was right to make the decision she did, but it was a travesty he was there in the first place. I don't understand how people could vote for Jonnie over Aston.

Shocked here. We aren't experts but just felt Aston was generally better, up to and including today (which of course is what they judge on...).

Over tea the dd’s were telling me how Aston was likely to quit if his wife went into labour next week ( dd’s are 12,10 and 8 so not quite sure where this info came from or if it was a ‘joke’ on ITT) but it made me a bit cynical that this isn’t an easy way of dealing with a potential conflict in the very near future.

I think the story about Aston quitting was an attempt by the papers to give a shrouded spoiler.

I am the first to say that Janette's Ballroom is only marginally better than Anton's Latin.
However, in fairness to her, Peder Andre was not a contender despite them building him up to be one...he was not putting the work in and was never going to last much longer after that jive #Jameliagate where he had only put in 4 hours work. The GBP love an underdog but hate people they deem to be arrogant/lazy/not using the opportunity.
Jake Wood was unlucky...Had Janette chosen his VW rather than his CCC to do in the DO, then he had a chance to knock Mark's rumba out as only Craig voted it higher and Len iiirc wasn't keen on the contempowafting.
Same as Anita vs Katie D dance off - Gleb chose their nonsalsa. Had he gone for their ballroom, she might have got through.
It won't be the last we see of Janette as she is needed for the shorter slebs but she is not wrong in thinking she might not get such a ringer again.
He chose the music I think (the producers have overall say but often a sleb gets a pick as do the pros). It isn't a well known Jacksons song.
The theming lent itself to the ''I sang as MJ once'' but I agree should have been left for a funky samba number or freestyle.
As with Cloudia, we have missed out there: his freestyle would have been hip hop bodypop backfliptastic with bells on.

Well that makes me like Janette more, if she's not a natural ballroom dancer. Not all of the pros are amazing at all types (e.g. Anton) but still manage ok.

@luckyDuvet Yeah I thought when then got paired that Giovanni's delight was really false and OTT as if he was overcompensating for being 'lumbered' with the older female celeb. I think we've all been pleasantly surprised!

Although when I think of Matt Baker's backflippy freestyle which led to poor Kara attempting a handspring, maybe we were saved. Nor was I keen on Louis either.

My final four would be Alex, Debbie, Susan and Joe at this point. Susan to win for the irony. (It'll never happen unless her fanbase manage to keep her out of the bottom two right up to the final but you never know).
She'd be the first real duffer to win since Chris Hollins. But brings joy, is likeable, gives KFG his first win and I would not begrudge that.
She can only do it with the public vote though, a decent freestyle and the QS as the judges' pick. Which leaves a problem, for personal pick unless Kev pulls off another brilliant Blackpool paso.

Similarly I loved Alex's paso and jive. Loved them.
Loved Debbie's paso. Tango on mute with different music fine.
Liked Joe's paso and his VW.
so they all have something.

It took me ages to work out who Debs reminded me of: tis an insult perhaps with the age gap but she looked like Amanda Abbington in Sherlock.

Not too disappointed to see Aston gone. Sadly I don't think Mollie is a long term contender either though.

Love the thought of Susan winning it, but sadly I don't think she will!

Aston's show dance would have been something special.
Think the next in order to leave will be:

I think the things that contributed to aston's premature departure were :

• poorly thought out theme and storyline
• poor choreography, vw is meant to be flowing, virtually all in hold, twirly twirly - this was not
• not a well known song
• they were under marked - a 4 it wasn't, Craig!
• they don't have loads of public support, probably because people see him as a ringer and so they didn't think he needed votes.
• his worst dance was against one of mollie's best (when danced in the dance off without the stumble)
• Janette doesn't have fans of her own to vote whoever her partner is
• it wasn't a comedy routine with a planned stumble in it (I'm sure anton made them Fall over)
• the rule is that the judges have to vote on just the dances in the dance off and not take into consideration past dances.

So there it is. A lot of factors and so bye-bye aston. A shame as his showdance would have been ace.

I didn't care who left out of those 2. Having Michael Jackson as a hero made me unimpressed with Aston any way. What has Alliaz to do with any of this? Is it incestuous pro-dancer carry ons? Wish they could stop screwing each other and just get on with the job if so.

Can't get Aston out of my head from the Trolls dance. One of my favourites of all time!!!
