Davood is the best male celeb dancer but is just a bit too intense at times. On ability, he should never have been in the DO and I shall be voting for him from now on as it seems the viewers are overlooking him in favour of those with the entertainment/fun factor.

I enjoyed all the dances actually and was even willing Charlotte on.
Music could be more rousing to fit the dance styles, though.

The only celeb I know is Ruth from This Morning and she does have the likeability factor.

I did see Alex on x-factor when she won it, but I wouldn't have recognised her or her amazing dancing skill.

cowgirlsareforever · 15/10/2017 21:28

I think Anton has a certain charm and is realistic about his place on the show.

Piggywaspushed · 15/10/2017 21:31

I've never been clear how Anton survived the racist slur storm a while back and came up smelling of roses!

cowgirlsareforever · 15/10/2017 21:32

He was very lucky to escape that one. Perhaps he knows where the bodies are buried?

Piggywaspushed · 15/10/2017 21:34

Haha! Perhaps!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/10/2017 21:36

The problem with a live results show is that there are a lot of 6 year olds in the audience and they, and their parents, would be grumpy about not being able to watch the results show “live”. Also, this way the BBC have a solid ratings banker to anchor Sunday night (less important now than it used to be now that Countryfile is such a ratings juggernaut)

Ruffian · 15/10/2017 21:57

. Poor Charlotte had no natural ability and always struck me as being scared stiff of Brenda - Anton (or any of the others) would have got much more out of her. And Brenda also gave her routines which were well beyond her ability.

^^ and that has been true of a number of his partners - I remember really disliking how he pulled Sophie Ellis Bextor around the floor and was clearly impatient for her to help him win. the judges repeatedly commented on her lack of emotion and it seemed to me she was very intimidated by him.

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 15/10/2017 22:01

Piggywaspushed what racist slur ?

bonfireheart · 15/10/2017 22:03

Davood is def better than Simon & Brian. Better certainly this weekend than Joe & Johnny. Aston (ringer) is prob the top male celeb. Are there any more, can't remember if there are!

MrsJamin · 15/10/2017 22:20

Davood is the best male celeb dancer
Huh? What about Aston?

FernetBranca · 15/10/2017 22:21

One of Strictly's strengths is the very wide range of celebs they have. Not necessarily in celebdom stakes but in demographic. Some of the demographics overlap, but there is always an older woman or man, someone with little to no physical prowess, several fit people but complete non dancers (usually athletes), someone tall, someone short, etc.

You always need a mix of taller/shorter/older/younger pros to match the dancers. Vincent, e.g., was a natural for the "not tall" female dancer - it was pretty much a given. Sometimes it was a good dancer - e.g. S Club Rachel, sometimes not. Anton very clearly knows his role is to dance with the more mature lady: there was no way Lesley Joseph was going to get AJ or his ilk. Anton, to my mind, always makes the best of what he gets, and he dances with the same charm with Katie Dereham as Lesley Joseph as Anne Widdecombe.

To my mind, Bendan never accepts a role or a dancer - Lulu, e.g. - and chafes against the fact he does not have an obvious winner. He never feels like he makes the most out of what he inevitably is going to get.

ilovesooty · 15/10/2017 22:32

I certainly don't think Anton has accorded equal respect and put in equal effort with all his partners.

SoupDragon · 15/10/2017 23:15

I think Davood is a little disappointing as a dancer. He was in the dance off because of the mid table curse where people don't vote for them but, whilst there were clearly worse dancers than him, I don't think he's great.

I don't think Charlotte ever relaxed into the dancing. She always seemed to be holding something back. Not stiff exactly but lacking the flow and enjoyment.

CeeBeeBee · 15/10/2017 23:28

I had higher expectations for Davood too but I really do think it's the choreography that's letting him down. There needs to be more technical detail in the dances to allow him to shine but so far, there seems to be a lot of running around, out of hold elements that bear little resemblance to the style of dance it's meant to be.

Bruno really has a thing for them being the hottest couple of the show but it's not going to save him in the long run...

Wingedharpy · 16/10/2017 00:00

I don't think Charlotte was comfortable with much of it either.
To be fair, she is 42 but looks about 28 so she was probably knackered!

I love Brendan, and his sticky out bum......and Anton, though they strike me as polar opposites personality wise.

Anton doesn't take any of it too seriously whereas Brendan really, really wants to do well and that must put some extra pressure on his partners.
Do the pros stop getting paid once they're out? Just wondered.

BeaLola · 16/10/2017 00:13

Charlotte was gracious, I think she tried but doesn't have natural ability like other shave discovered, also Brendan not perhaps the best partner for her - on paper she looked like a good prospect compared to say Susan- I wonder how she would have done with Brendan as a coach ? Charlotte reminded me of Victoria Pendleton. I think Brendan's speech sounded like a goodbye.

For some reason not liking Davoods partner at all although I did love her dress. Out of the new dancers really like Brian's partner and her excitement each week when they get through.

Ceto · 16/10/2017 00:42

Sophie Ellis Bextor was so not intimidated by Brendan.

The professionals must continue to get paid after they get knocked out, because they still do the pro dances and turn up on the balcony. Also the ones who get knocked out seem to get chosen more for things like the dance with the singer, e.g. Pasha and Dianne did it tonight.

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 16/10/2017 05:19

Morning! Sorry, I missed the results show. Caught up bits. Was Brenda really saying goodbye or was he desperately trying to claw his way back into good books to get a 16th season? That's his lowest position for a while now. Maybe he will do Xmas or Pudsey?
Besides his tour he keeps advertising won't be far off and Zoe is pregnant. Did Davood look shocked to be in bottom two?

Anton said with all her fake tan that Laila looked like a p**i and apologised (whereas Carol Thatcher said golliwog and refused to say sorry. She got fired. He didn't).
But there is a conspiracy theory that Laila used to use the P term herself but when it all kicked off, Anton took all the flak because she didn't want her parents being upset by it all. That might explain why he was not fired. Craig kind of refers to it in one of his books. ''Anton is absolutely not a racist as far as I am concerned and had a Japanese girlfriend at the time...It was one of those things where she might have called herself various names, like I might call myself a 'rancid queen' or 'big old poof' - or rap stars and singers like Rihanna might use the N word - but if someone else says it then it's not acceptable.''
It was overheard backstage and Craig thought Anton might have needed to apologise to Laila but not the whole world.

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 16/10/2017 05:22

That was in reply to whatshouldmyusernamebe btw.
Oh and series, not season, sorry too much DWTS Blush

The80sweregreat · 16/10/2017 06:41

I do love Craig , i have read one of his autobiographies and he is a fasinating character - if i were on this show he is the one I would want to impress the most ( but sadly wouldnt) and he has lightened up a bit over the years - he does manage to say something positive, even to the really not so good dancers these days.

MrsJamin · 16/10/2017 07:00

I have lots of respect for Craig too, much more than bruno. I nod along with Craig's comments and he always does criticism first and then what's good.

Cherrypi · 16/10/2017 07:02

Craig has definitely been less pantomime villain this year. Davood is not a famous eastender. I'd not heard of him before. Also new pros don't always do that well their first season unless their British.

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2017 07:19

I agree with mrsJamin too. Craig tells it like it is, but if you get praise from him, you know it is well earned. And he's fair.
I can't take Bruno seriously. He may know his stuff but I can't tell because he is always standing up waving his arms around and using ridiculous similes and flowery language. (And almost knocking seven bells out of Shirley (who for some reason I want to call "Audrey"))

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/10/2017 07:28

Am I the only one who didn't feel Alexandra's jive? I can see that technically it was very fast and reasonably accurate - although that slide between Gorka's legs was clumsy - but it didn't seem to have as much jive action as some of them have in the past.

I watched on catch-up and had already seen on Digital Spy that it got 10s, so expected to be more excited by it than I was.

It made me laugh, though, to see Darcey whipping out the 10 so enthusiastically - I still remember her frankly embarrassing "Because it's Week 3, a 9!" for Jay's jive. So we've established that 10s don't come out before Week 4, then?!

Beardshaw · 16/10/2017 07:33

Quite glad to see Charlotte put out of her misery, she was just so mimsy. Loved Susan and thought Kevin did a fabulous choreography job - as he often does. Glad to see Jo survived, he could be really good, maybe, just needs more confidence and a bit of time.
Thought it was a good week all round, free of silly gimmicks.
