Its my first time watching these 80s eps, have they not built the houses Sally, the Platts and Yasmine live in yet? Or Victoria Court presumably? Do they get built on screen or just appear one day?

The bigger houses (Sally's etc) are on the site of the old factory, which if I remember rightly used to make jeans. I can't remember when the factory was knocked down.

Coronation Street bingo - a mark every time someone says “prop’r fam-la” and “a fresh start”. A point every time Gail says “oh David”.

On 1986 Coronation Street Jack had asked Sally if she has an older sister. She replied that she hadn't but that she had a brother.

I'm loving the old episodes!! That was the glory days of Corrie!

Last week on classic Corrie, Gail got really angry with a customer harassing her and pinching her bum and the other cafe staff said "he's only having a laugh". Alec asked Sally to work at the graffiti club and she admitted guys must like her judging by the number of times she got pinched! Thankfully times have changed - although in 1986 if someone groped me I thumped them!

The factory did make jeans and it was just as unrealistic a portrayal of a factory as it is now!

Toyah looks so grotty in her cardi and acts as if she hates the pub and why are we not seeing Peter and why does he not have a storyline!

I ageee. I currently like 1980s Ivy a lot more than I did back then. She seems to be quite a fair-minded woman and not the mouthy zealot I recall. Perhaps that comes later.

It's realistic that some people live further afield too (Jenny and Alan, Gail and Brian, Ida, Martin, Shirley, Phyllis, Betty) unlike now where everyone resides in the street except Audrey.

Housewife - at first I also wondered how you could have swooned over him as I assumed you meant modern-day Brian (Roy's lodger) and not 1980s Brian!

I'm absolutely loving the 80's episodes. Has anyone else noticed how much more Northern everyone talked back then? Hardly any of the residents of current coronation street speak like proper northerners.
