BA's career has gone no where* He hasn't really bagged any big roles has he? I thought Fleabag showed what a great actor he is and might lead to more stuff on the BBC at least.

Flowerfan · 19/10/2017 09:37

Hopefully this is because he has been out of the country for most of this year and when this series finishes we will see him in something else. (Perhaps wishful thinking on my part but we can but hope).
I was sitting stamping my feet and shouting no no no at the tele when she was 'with' Melan!!! Obviously in on my own!
BA does fit the bill of Sandhurst Officer so well it needs an Army, Navy or Airforce programme for him (voice, accent, and the rest)

Flowerfan · 19/10/2017 09:38

BUT BBC PLEASE SOMETHING FOR HIM

MissEliza · 19/10/2017 14:04

BA did a drama a few years ago called First Light where he played an RAF officer in WW2 so obviously the BBC like him in that kind of role! I thought Fleabag showed what a good and diverse actor he was. He was such a shit!

Flowerfan · 19/10/2017 16:47

Yes saw that Eliza and a Vera episode when he was an army doctor!

wibblywobblyfish · 19/10/2017 21:39

I've just bought series 1&2 box set. Watching S1 ep 1. CJ's character has changed so much since over the course of the series! Forgot how much grittier the first series is.

Rhubarb01 · 19/10/2017 22:35

I rewatched episode 2 (current series) this afternoon and I was only thinking myself how very different series 2 and 3 are to the first series. I have to agree wibbly that series 1 was a completely different kettle of fish. I don't know if it was just the different chemistry between the leads, the setting in what was still an active 'war' zone or even something as simple as the use of a great soundtrack that gave it a completely different atmosphere. I really felt that the characters were in jeopardy and I can't say I the same of series 2 or the current one - this may change Hmm. As for CJ, he's definitely changed but that may be a fair reflection of the situation in which he now finds himself and feeling less idealistic and enthusiastic. We also don't know anything of his home life. Last series all sounded rosy but maybe it's not now - still really worried about what this means for him and Molly. I just can't bear the thought of it all going belly-up for them. If that happens (realistic as it might be) I think I will just ignore series 3 altogether.

Ilovelblue · 19/10/2017 22:36

Hi there everyone.

Curlup glad there's another Elvis worshipper. Rhu, TRish and I thought we were the only ones a couple of weeks ago. Really sorry though that I cannot see any attraction with Milan at all!

Wibbly in the first series, I suppose CJ had a bigger part to play because of the budding romance with Molly. These next two series have had a different focus. At least he seems to be in more scenes this time than in the previous series. By the way, I have watched the end of episode 2 with Elvis a couple seven times now. He is so gorgeous!

TRish47 · 19/10/2017 23:45

Welcome Curlup! Another one to join in the Elvis fan club. He is rather gorgeous. Rhu! I could not bear it if it all goes Tits Up with CJ and Molly. There has been some speculation that she may be pregnant and that’s why he is so worried looking. What are your thoughts! Having said that we in NZ are still waiting to watch the series, I have only seen snippets to keep me going.
Lovely day over here, sunny and warm. Xxx

Rhubarb01 · 20/10/2017 00:16

That's certainly a preferable suggestion TRish. I had noticed how distracted by the kids CJ seems to be at times from the way the camera pans around as if it following his gaze and it might have been significant that he was particularly unsettled when Kingy was looking at pictures of his kids and talked about wanting to say goodnight to them. If Molly should be pregnant perhaps he is thinking of what happened the first time with Rebecca. Where is little Sam these days? He might be feeling that it's time to call it a day and be at home or there might have been words about it all - not sure Molly would be cross with him for being away though.

Oh the talk of sunshine when it is cold, dark and very windy here tonight not to mention the whole weird stormy red sky on Monday full of Saharan dust and forest fire debris from Spain. I wouldn't mind a little bit of sunshine.

Firegirl · 20/10/2017 08:01

Morning. Just had a thought. Didn't CJ say to Elvis in series 2 that Molly was in Afghan? And aren't they all returning to Afghanistan next week? Wishful thinking to hope there might be a cameo from Moĺly. But then I suppose that was some time ago and she may be back in the UK by now.

Rhubarb01 · 20/10/2017 21:27

Evening all!

Not sure about the timescales firegirl. I think they showed the opening sequence with Georgie and Elvis as being November 2016 and I suppose the Nepal sequence is supposed to be spring/summer 2017? To be honest we were all totally flumoxed by the timscales for series 2 seeing as it jumped back and then forwards again by two years and we couldn't decide if the non-wedding to Elvis was before or after CJ met Molly and no one has ever explained how Georgie knows Molly but somehow she does re the comment on Facebook. I'd love to know the backstory.

Wouldn't it just be brilliant if they'd kept a little cameo from LT under their hats and she appeared in skype or something - surely she could have done that whilst working on Eastenders? Just hoping in vain, I know but still hoping - pleeeeease!

The trailer for episode 3 is a bit of tease isn't it? I wonder who Georgie is defying orders for to run across no mans land? I'm hopeful that it will be a good one and there's also going to be some friction with Elvis and his new short, hot haircut.

Any takers for Episode 2 watchalong on Sunday evening?

Just a small aside - I was reading the previews for next week in the RT, and in particular for 'The Last Post', and I noted that the military loathing RT editor had written in similarly scathing tones about that drama. Perhaps she should pass over the reviewing of anything involving the army to someone else and stick to Poldark which she seems to love - I cannot imagine why, as since series 1 Ross has been - well I can think of many phrases but to quote Georgie - a tw*t!

Flowerfan · 20/10/2017 22:14

Hi I think I am ok for Sunday night although I haven’t had time to do much ‘homework’

Ilovelblue · 20/10/2017 22:26

Rhu and Flower, I'm fine for Sunday night but although I guess I've done the homework, I'm not really full of inspiration. May need to watch again on Saturday to give me some ideas.

I have been watching The Last Post but I do get a bit confused over who's who in the police. It's taken me three episodes to work out who is which rank.

Is anyone doing anything exciting this weekend?

How about that then. Cotton traders on line. Perfect and I am not keeping it until Christmas in fact I’ve just been baking in it'!!

Flowerfan · 21/10/2017 14:23

That’s about as exciting as it gets here ilove but at least it brings back great memories!😜😜

Shirlpearl21 · 21/10/2017 17:00

Is it just me, but does series one and the romance between Molly and Capt James knock spots off anything going on between Georgie and Elvis? Bring back Lacey Turner so that the chemistry between her and Charles can brighten up what quite frankly has been some wooden acting so far!!!!

Shirlpearl21 · 21/10/2017 17:08

Is it just me, but does series 1 and the romance between Molly and Capt James knock spots off anything that's is going on with Georgie and Elvis? Bring back Lacey Turner and use the chemistry between her and Charles to create a half decent story line!

Rhubarb01 · 21/10/2017 18:12

Hi shirl - you are most definitely not alone in your view of series 1 versus series 2 and 3. Most of us would love to see Molly and CJ again but we just don't think it's going to happen, so are making the best of Elvis and Georgie but mainly Elvis Grin. In fact I yearn for a little bit of CJ and Molly magic dust - sigh!!!

Totally off subject but I'm about for SCD if anyone fancies swapping the odd comment about the dancing or otherwise - have you decided on all your bets now ilove?

Ilovelblue · 21/10/2017 19:52

Evening everyone. A bit late to comment on SCD as it's been on an hour now and I need to catch up on the recording so sorry Rhu. I had some unexpected visitors around 5 pm and it threw everything out of kilter for me.

We normally have 4 bets, costing us a total of £20 between us, but this time we really struggled and have stuck with 3: Aston, Alexandra and Gemma. We did wonder about Debbie McGee but our armchair expert view is that she won't have the stamina to carry it through to the final. Mind you, what do we know!

We have very high winds again here in Lancashire and the rain has been relentless since around 1 pm. The back garden was partly flooded which happens only rarely. Is everyone else suffering at the hands of Storm Brian?

Hi can i join in please.
I have to say im really not enjoying this series as much as the previous ones.
Im hooked though ( on Elvis and CJGrin) so will carry on watching in the hope the storyline improves.
The teaser for next week looks promising for more Elvis at least!

Ilovelblue · 21/10/2017 20:23

LaughingLlama what a brilliant ID! Do you like llamas? I guess you must. I went llama trekking earlier this year.

So far, I think I prefer this series to the last one and like Rhu says, it can't be about CJ and Molly any more, so I am happy to enjoy whatever TG creates for us and lust after both CJ and Elvis. I absolutely love his black humour towards the end of the most recent episode when he asks if Georgie thought he'd have been shoved in a body bag by now. Do you have a view on Milan?

Who is up for the watchalong tomorrow? Any takers as well as me, Rhu and Flower?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 21/10/2017 20:33

Hi Llama oh yes please, do join in.

So far I'm enjoying the start of this series more than the start of series 2 as I quite like the return of more banter in two section and although Maisie is annoying, I think she and Rab together work well from a comedy point of view. I don't dislike Georgie but I also don't feel very engaged with her character either. At the moment I'm just not that bothered and feel a bit neutral about her. Not so neutral about CJ or Elvis though. I do hope to have my emotions stirred a little in the next two episodes.

ilove just finished watching SCD and think you'll do alright with your three bets. I reckon they'll make the final. As for the 4th one - assuming they have four in the final - I think it could be Debbie or possibly even Joe? Going home tonight - I reckon maybe Brian

or Simon although Susan was pretty bad but I'm sure she'll be saved as she is so much fun.

Rhubarb01 · 21/10/2017 20:35

Oh and yes - it's been very windy down here in the West Country too. Less windy now and just raining.

kazzaD66 · 21/10/2017 21:53

Two SCD highlights tonight - Craig doing an impression of Bruno and Anton's outfit and quip about his trousers his dance certainly not a highlight Grin
