Well, I had a second viewing when I got home from work this afternoon and a few things struck me.
The opening sequence in Syria. I can't believe that Georgie could be arguing with the driver like that when surely Elvis is in charge? For example the radio says abort the mission and Elvis says nothing but Georgie shouts at Maisie to do as instructed but she's just the medic! However, I also noticed a little moment when Georgie gives Maisie and Elvis a suspicious glance when Maisie replies to something he says. The back story has been leaked on this already but it was interesting that I saw the eyes flitting from one to the other.
Maisie - as well as being very annoying, was also a little bit inconsistent. There were a couple of scenes when she and Georgie seemed to be a little more on the same page - when Georgie was treating the man with the bad leg, Maisie acknowledged she was good at her job and also when they were chatting outside about Milan. There was a shared little smirk and I thought they had the potential to bond. The rest of the time she was just too loud, brash and upfront and didn't come across as particularly bright!
I quite like the new member Rab. He's supposed to be more intelligent so I suppose he fills in some of the gaps in knowledge by educating Two Section eg Geography of the region, religion etc
I reckon CJ is going to consider leaving the army. He looks cheesed off and a bit tired. From what we've heard it sounds like that's the intention and, if so, it's working. One thing that did grate on me was the little speech he gave to the section with the Nepalese Commander when they were loading the truck particularly when he said the earthquake had happened, "frighteningly close to the earthquake of 2015." It just sounded exactly as it was intended to be, background information for the audience, not true dialogue.
Ditto to the scene with Georgie's mum. What was the point? Tell you what I would have finished my cake first!
I know there's been a lot of conversation about MK's appearance. Last year this was discussed and it was mentioned then that she does have a naturally darker complexion because her mother is from Gibraltar. She didn't strike me as wearing a lot of makeup and when I recall the way she looked when she was abducted in series 2 she certainly looked pretty roughed up - apart from the teeth. TG has made his joke about that already.
I'll keep watching to see what happens but I do think we need an injection of Elvis and soon, please
