It was as though they didn't know what direction to take this series in. It was floundering between kitchen sink drama/thriller/revenge caper/ childhood misery memoir. None of it seemed to flow.

Give me strength. Would have been better to finish it the episode Kate moved out and had Tom and Gemma driving away after that.

So series 3 Gemma and Simon will reunite whilst looking for Tom, They will become close again and put aside everything to be 'better parents' for him... That will really tip the poor boy over the edge!

Should have had more courage and killed him off. Definitely thought that's where it was heading.
For such a fantastic first series this was sn utter shambles. Nonsensical.

I think the ending we all came up with on an earlier thread where Kate and Gemma team up to drown Simon in the swimming pool would have been much better writing tbh

80's Tom ran away, Simon is very much alive and Him and Gemma are wallowing more than ever!

Last week's episode had a good bit of pace and then this week.......splat.

Just like Liar on ITV1 and a lot of other 9pm primetime TV dramas, this all went to shit. The Americans do this kind of thing so much better - more believable, more nuanced and more gripping.
