I'm waaaay behind with neighbours. But just wanted to express my annoyance over the Shane/Dipi house layout. That room they always show with the open plan kitchen leads into the garden at the back and then the other door that leads into the house - if you turn left you come to the hall and the front door is straight in front of you, living room to the left, right? That's what the layout has always been with the previous occupants. But lately when people are leaving the open plan room to go home they say their goodbyes and then they turn right, which is where the bedrooms / bathroom are supposed to be! I'm sorry if I've totally confused you and I know it's not an important point or anything but it's so stupid. Why did they get rid of the front room anyway?

I thought the same. Definitely with Tash and Michael and their predecessors in this house we saw them in the lounge to the left and the house had a formal hall and front door and you could glimpse kitchen to right. Never saw an open plan family room, it seemed smaller

Their house is massive. Toadie has a right pokey wee hole in comparison.

Okay here's my diagram
So basically you have Ramsay Street at the top then you have a front garden and their front door which no one ever uses and it's never seen. Then you have a hall leading to a fairly decent sized front room which again hasn't been seen or used since Lauren and her brood moved in. The hall also leads to the open plan sofa room / kitchen. Then you have the back door which everyone seems to use to get in and out of the house (even the neighbours who, incidentally don't bother knocking. I mean, why would you be bothered if someone just walked into your kitchen via your back door? That's totally normal, right?). Anyway also leading off the hall you have at least two bedrooms. How do I know the floorplans of the house so intimately you ask? Well, when Michael/Tasha, Steph/Max, Lucas, and all other inhabitants lived there they showed these other rooms. Why they don't show them now I have no idea. It's just weird. Because they now have no front door. Also, like I said in the post above, what bugs me the most is that when people leave the house (if they're walking through the house, not going out of the back door). They exit the kitchen and turn right but the front door isn't on the right! It's on the left. Ben did it a couple of other episodes ago (well it was a couple of episodes ago for me but I'm waaay behind so it was probably a couple of weeks ago). Anyway, he picked up his guitar, said his goodbyes and turned right to where the extra bedrooms / bathroom would be!!! Why aren't the writers aware of the house plans?? This is inportant information!
Okay I'm going to lie down in a dark room somewhere and recover from my irrational anger about this .
Oh, and you know what else has made me angry lately? Paige giving out parental advice to Steph. She's had a kid for about 5 minutes! Yet she's all listen to me impart my motherly wisdom on you. Ahhh!

I think maybe they want us to think that they knocked the old living room wall through to create a big open plan room but the new open plan room isn't big enough for it to also contain the old living room. Plus if this was the case there'd be a window in that rom facing onto the street. And also you'd see people using the front door. I think maybe that part of the set was damaged and they couldn't be arsed repairing it? Although they could at least have had the location of the rooms right in their minds when giving the actors directions on which way to exit the room to get to the front door.
God, what's wrong with me, I'm putting way too much thought into this. I seriously need to get a life!

This site has floorplans of Chateaux Brennan (22), Willis (24) and Canning (26) with lists of who used to live there. I didn't know Terese's house had 5 bedrooms. It does say that interiors have been changed over the years . Where applicable there are also historic floorplans

Ooh thanks for that link and there is actually a floor plan of the house in question! Number 32. Apparently the old living room that looks out into the street is now a bedroom. And there is a way out to the drive if you turn right out of that kitchen area too. So I'm glad that's cleared that up .
The house has had a massive refit so where the bedrooms used to be is now another lounge room and a sun room. I think that might be where Lauren saw Matt's ghost / I think Paige slept on the sofa there with someone (?) Tyler (?).
