Tennis Tennis Tennis

Am most excited & thought the grass needs a new thread.

I'll stick my neck out & say Fed to win the mens' & Carolina Plisshkova (sp?) for the womens'.

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:03

(for a 31 year old)

Even his serve is holding up.

Vamos Rafa!

bookbook · 07/07/2017 16:04

whoosh - in 22 minutes . Feeling a bit sorry for Khatchanov

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:05

book I do, a little. He is definitely a talent. But Rafa is looking so good.

LittleWitch · 07/07/2017 16:08

I need Rafa to slow down a bit cos I want to watch Andy and at this rate I'm going to miss most of it - got to get home from work and go to gym at 6.30. Angry

But VAMOS!

bookbook · 07/07/2017 16:08

Khatchanov looks a bit leaden - footed to me - a bit static on the spot

BagelGoesWalking · 07/07/2017 16:08

My DD17 said "Imagine how loud Azarenka was when she gave birth!" 😬😂😬

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:09

Bagel GrinGrin

There are probably not enough decibels to cover that.

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:11

Karen (which is easier to spellGrin) has a game. That's nice. But don't let him ahead of himself.

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:13

Castle getting excited by Masters green jacketsGrin

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2017 16:16

Grin @ Bagel's DD. I bet everyone on her floor was given ear defenders!

£94.80 poorer, but I finally have a working TV, so shall be joining you all for LIVE tennis when I get back from work today. Hurrah!

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:19

Jo serving for the set?

Good to see Halep is through- looked like it was tough though.

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:19

Creme excellent news!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2017 16:24

Jo has taken the first set. Sakkari is playing better now than at the beginning.

bookbook · 07/07/2017 16:25

May turn over then - this is almost too hard to watch

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2017 16:32

It took 10 minutes, but Jo broke Sakkari in the first game of the second set.

SanFranBear · 07/07/2017 16:33

I can't abide the grunting and shrieking normally but for some reason, Rafa's groans are bearable Blush

Felt for Heathery today - she started so well. Hope next year she's able to fly into the second week as I really like her.

LittleWitch · 07/07/2017 16:34

Oh hell, Rafa's really got his toe down. I'm going to zoom home now I think!

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:45

San I posted earlier, that I don't mind it with the men- because it's usually because of real effort, and not just an affectation, which I really do think it is with some of the women.

QuiQuaiQuod · 07/07/2017 16:49

Am I allowed on this thread as I cant stand Rafa? or Roger?

although RF is the lesser of 2 evils!

cant stand Djoko either.

Im in crush with Marin Cilic and Delpo, (although Im channeling Madonna as theyre both young enough to be my grandsons, put together. Miaow!)

only ggod thing about Kvitova being out (and I wanted her to win again) is no longer to listen to Tracy Austin abebering on eveyr 2 minutes about what happened to her hand.

shes as bad as Castle.

and who thinks Inverdale isa good commentator? hes so BORING!

I m not able to read every single post but what the view on Venus and being at Wimbledon and not sorting out whats going on in her private life regarding the ''incident''?

shame Bedene and Watsy are out they did really well.

QuiQuaiQuod · 07/07/2017 16:51

oh and btw why has Djoko taken on Stavros Flatley as his coach? Grin.

Raahh · 07/07/2017 16:53

Qui you are very welcome- so long as you aren't precious about the fact that there are some of us who can't stand Murray either Grin.

I love Marin. I liked him even more when Goran was around, but I do have a bit soft spot for him.

bookbook · 07/07/2017 16:57

well, thats that - Jo wins

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 07/07/2017 16:59

Everyone is welcome to the thread but Raah and I at least are tremendously pro-Rafa and I can't speak for Raahh, but I may get snippy if he's dissed. He is, imo, an absolute exemplar sportsman.

But welcome to the thread! Grin You are in good company if you can't stand Djokovic, and we tend to discuss as many matches as possible quite evenly - it's not all about Vamos Rafa!

Raahh · 07/07/2017 17:04

Yes Grin seriously, we are pretty fair about most players. Djok has some fans around, but not so many. Delpo is very good choice tooGrin
I get very defensive about Rafa, especially when the commentators have already decided he will lose- which seems to be mostly a Wimbledon thing. Doesn't happen at other tournaments so much.

Am not really a Roger fan, but I appreciate what he has done for the sport, and when he is on form, he is great to watch.

Hopefuly Qui you are not a fan of young stroppy Aussies. Most of us would like to see them bannedGrin

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2017 17:04

Hi Qui.

Well done, Jo. She's looking good.
