Brrr Gave me chills. On last night but possibly a repeat, Found that Scottish guy John really really disturbing. In fact it me an actual nightmare.
It was the combination of being gross in so many ways and then being confident enough to be actually really rude to the point of nasty to his date. He date seemed a lovely chap too.
Loved the young travelling couple. So much cuter than anything on Live Island.

First dates Canada and first dates US are actually pretty good. Drew Barrymore is the narrator for the US and Ellen Degeneres produces and they are trying to pull the staff in like the UK more than the other spin offs have.

SeanSpicer · 08/06/2017 19:08

I think it said John owns a bar so maybe has ended up with a skewed view of drinking/how much is too much.

I agree he was really sinister. Also I think he has resting-potential-murderer-face which doesn't help.

Onceafortnight · 08/06/2017 19:11

I would hate to know him in real life. Scary.

John was awful, but I thought the way he manipulated his date into leaving was the worse. He made it out that they should leave and he was the one wanting to leave.

Then the next minute his date asks for the bill, but he doesn't ask for his half of it and then stay to eat his steak!

Awful scary bloke.

I hope his date comes back.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 09/06/2017 11:35

Just caught up with this and agree, what a horrible bloke. And so lacking in self awareness.
His date seemed so sweet- I hope he comes back and has better luck

HangingRock · 09/06/2017 11:42

I agree with his date. "Don't be a dick!" What an arsehole John was to him. Rude bastard. He was no oil painting himself. The date deserves better.

senua · 09/06/2017 11:44

I really felt for the chap with the flat cap, who had a cat. It felt as though he'd had a rough life and could do with some mothering and I just wanted to have him over and feed him up.

I knew they wouldn't click.
Him: hello. What's your name
Her: Janna
Him: hello Jenna
her: Janna
Him: Jenna
Her: Janna
Him: yeah, I said Jenna didn't I
Her: not Jenna. Janna
Him: Jenna?
Her: Hmm

senua · 09/06/2017 11:52

I agree that John was horrible: drank too much, ate in a disgusting way, was rude, was eyeing up other talent (the waiter) in front of his date.
Well done on his date for not politely suffering in silence. It must have taken guts to walk out, especially in front of the cameras.
I wonder what went wrong, they usually pair them up quite well. I hope the date gets a second chance.

Yes, the calmly eating his steak after being so awful to his date seemed a bit, I don't know, serial killer-ish?

Davros · 10/06/2017 09:49

Ooh, where do I find FD Oz etc?

Sidge · 10/06/2017 18:56

John was absolutely disgusting - a rude pig of a man.

Belching, necking drinks (he was a publican wasn't he? Bet he drinks all his profit), went out for a fag for ages leaving his date sitting there like a lemon, just vile.

Even if you don't fancy your blind date have some respect and consideration and just eat your dinner, say thanks but no thanks and then leave.

Jultay · 10/06/2017 19:07

That John proper freaked me out too ... I wouldn't like to meet him in a dark alley that's for sure ... felt so sorry for the other guy but he had a lucky escape 😲

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 10/06/2017 19:51

The one word that kept springing to mind whilst watching John was 'repulsive'.

noenemee · 11/06/2017 10:49

The word in my mind is predatory.

He was judging the men on looks alone with no regard to them having an interest in him and no thought at all about what he had to give.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/06/2017 11:17

Yes,he was quite alarming imo, gave me the real shivers and not in a good way!

purpleme12 · 11/06/2017 12:34

I couldn't believe that horrible man. He was rude from even before he said he didn't find him attractive. But on his Facebook page he's proud of it all and still thinks he was honest!

wobblywonderwoman · 11/06/2017 12:48

Really weird, unattractive man. How did he get through to the actual show is beyond me!

Hope the nice man gets a happy ending.

Love first dates though!!

MyGastIsFlabbered · 11/06/2017 15:32

Oooh how did you find his FB page?

purpleme12 · 11/06/2017 18:43

One of those sponsored posts came up about it and someone had put a link to it on one of the comments

TheWitchAndTrevor · 11/06/2017 19:54

Yes it came up on my fb feed too.

He is revelling in it, all the attention, showing newspaper clippings.

There unfortunately are a few comments from similar mind sick heads too. Saying he's done nothing wrong, and people need telling and not led on...Hmm

hostinthemachine · 11/06/2017 21:10

I saw John's Facebook page and he says he asked for a Tom Daley type. As if! Lovely Greig had a lucky escape.

cowgirlsareforever · 11/06/2017 21:13

I really disliked him. He struck me as very self-loathing and happy to take everyone else down with him.

Lots of lovely people though on that episode. I hope they go the distance.

noenemee · 14/06/2017 14:06

Did anyone watch last night? At the end it was revealed that Grieg, John's date, is back at the restaurant next time Smile
