Couldn't find a thread about this already. I read a review of this in the Guardian today and saw it will be on TV on C4 on Sunday.

I'm really looking forward to watching it even though the book is so disturbing. And the reviews of the show have been very positive so far. Anyone else?

No spoilers please for anyone with fancy shmancy access to US episodes (even if we know what's happening 'cause we've read the book...)

Ooh Sunday? This week?

OutComeTheWolves · 26/05/2017 04:57

Not going to spoil it (I've seen up to episode 6) all I'll say is that it's fantastic. They've really made it quite sinister and believable the way her rights are slowly eroded.

FixItUpChappie · 26/05/2017 05:12

I'm not in the Uk and its already well into the season in my neck of the woods. no spoilers but I wanted to say I really like it and personally feel it is picked up steam as its gone along...looking forward to more Smile

HardcoreLadyType · 26/05/2017 05:35

I'm so pleased to have seen this thread. I follow Margaret Atwood on Twitter, so I have seen loads of people talking about it for weeks. I didn't know when it would come to the UK.

She seems really pleased with it, so I'm guessing the way the story is shown is close to the story she wanted to tell in the book.

I'm really excited to see it, now!

Donostia · 26/05/2017 05:54

I've seen the first five episodes and it's brilliant! Even having read the book there are surprises, they've padded the book out, and normally that annoys me about adaptations but with this it makes it even more sinister I think.

lilydaisyrose · 26/05/2017 06:55

I haven't read the book so no storyline spoilers either please! Looking forward to this!

CurbsideProphet · 26/05/2017 07:49

I'll be watching on Ch4. I've read the book quite a few times, so I'm very much looking forward to it Smile

Fairylea · 26/05/2017 07:50

Cannot wait to see this.

I remember reading the book when I was about 17 and being so excited and engaged with it that I stayed up all night to finish it!

BikeRunSki · 26/05/2017 07:51

Very much looking forward to this. I don't think it's going to be cosy Sunday night viewing somehow!

Bellaposy · 26/05/2017 07:51

I've seen the first 5 episodes and it's excellent! Disturbing but brilliant.

BikeRunSki · 26/05/2017 07:52

I remember reading the book when I was about 17 and being so excited and engaged with it that I stayed up all night to finish it!.

Me too. I think I was slightly younger, maybe 15/16. I think it should be compulsory reading for all 16 year old girls.

Fairylea · 26/05/2017 07:56

Bikerunski definitely. I am trying to get my 14 year old dd to read it at the moment!

bonbonours · 26/05/2017 07:57

Thanks for this post, I loved the book and didn't know it was coming on telly. Can't wait.

BikeRunSki · 26/05/2017 07:59

Good work Bella. At 5, I suspect my DD is still a little young!

Gowgirl · 26/05/2017 08:05

I was so pissed off I couldn't stream this, my Sunday is sorted now....

Creatureofthenight · 26/05/2017 08:06

Looking forward to it, love the book and have seen lots of positive press about the show.

Ulysses · 26/05/2017 08:14

I've just read the book because I knew this TV show would be starting soon and it was fantastic.

Redredredrose · 26/05/2017 08:35

I'm up to episode six - so excited that this be on UK tv so we can talk about it! I'll be rewatching with DP, so I can talk about each episode as it airs here. It's really good.

UrsulaPandress · 26/05/2017 08:38

It's on the A level syllabus this year.

EsmesBees · 26/05/2017 08:41

Also looking forward to this. Loved the book but not read it for years. I worry it won't be as powerful as I remember.

CowParsleyNettle · 26/05/2017 08:52

Saw the trailer the first time, didn't pay attention. Saw it again and was intrigued. Am now 60% of the way through the book and hoping to finish before Sunday!

Footle · 26/05/2017 11:21

I worry it will be just as powerful as I remember , more so in fact, and I won't be watching.

FloweryTwat · 26/05/2017 11:24

I did this for a level 20 odd years ago and it's the only book I've re read (several times) for pleasure since.

Looking forward to seeing the series. Saw the film too, which wasn;t bad.

FairfaxAikman · 26/05/2017 11:27

I've seen it and loved it. It's been made relevant to the present time without deviating significantly from the source material (slight spoiler- there is a bit which addresses what happens elsewhere, which I think worked well)

App1eCakes · 26/05/2017 12:50

My DD aged 14 read the book earlier this year and although she really enjoyed it and found it really thought provoking, I'm not sure she's ready to watch it - for those who have seen it already, do you think it's going to be a bit too much for a young teen? I'll probably need to watch and veto it myself anyway.

I love Margaret Atwood's writing generally, I'm hoping this adaptation will live up to the hype!
